Look, I'm of the mind that pedigree talk is great but ultimately pointless and done just for fun. Unless you have a resume like Fox it's nothing that will ever really be settled, but it's harmless talk.

Take a Valium or something and relax.
You've been on this site since 2011. You haven't seen enough of this "pedigree" talk amongst the same "pedigree"? It's just same elitist bullshit year in and year out.

Don't get me wrong, I respect everyone's play here, but what kind of validation do you want? A print out to frame on your wall of someone saying you're a top 3 player? It's egotistical and proves nothing. Not you personally, but u see where I'm going.

Like, these threads come around nearly as often as tier lists and match up threads. Where's the hype? There is none, and if there is it's overshadowed by this type of shit.

Just gets fucking annoying, I want this community to grow but it won't unless people get over themselves and try to appeal to everyone else.

I admire sonicfox because he's so humble. Just like Justin Wong. Justin will stream and ft2 or 3 viewers and educate them on what they can improve. Increase their drive and motivate them to want to do better.

Where's that type of stuff here? Because I don't see it. The most educational people around here I see are @PND_Ketchup and @PND_Mustard They actually genuine give a fuck. Just wish everyone else did and I don't even play the damn game anymore. It's sad, it really is -_-

Also, I know there are people who do shit to try and further the community. I'm not saying no one does shit, because a few people do. And if you do, keep on doing it. Maybe one day it'll pay off.

God Confirm

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.
the figureheads of the American scene are 2/3 times just toxic players. Personally my favorite person from the NRS scene is InControl. He counts because he's on NRS streams every now and again. What a guy.

Just as Viscant is not considered anywhere near top 5 in Marvel (he won the first Evo for MVC3 using a super broken Phoenix team), I think there is no way KDZ can be considered top 3 in Injustice. Evo is huge, but other huge factors (such as the state of the game being extremely different due to a broken, brain dead character) can definitely outweigh it in my opinion.

I love these threads. This sort of discussion is way more interesting than a bunch of random low level players whining about their characters and posting their suggested balance changes for the 1,000th time.

To me, it's ludicrous to suggest that having personalities and egoes drives people away. Should we also stop NFL players from giving interviews and doing touchdown celebrations? Should we stop wrestlers and UFC fighters from cutting promos and talking trash? Would someone actually suggest that the interviews / celebrations / promos / trash talking are driving *down* ratings for those sports?

It's also not as if these discussions and matchup/tier discussions are mutually exclusive. We can and should have both. If someone doesn't like this type of discussions, then avoid it - the thread title makes it pretty clear what this is about.

I want my props. I earned them. gimme gimme gimme.
Me and @16 Bit aren't the best of friends (at all) but he was undeniably one of the best in MK9 and Injustice.

But the difference is he was hype and wasn't boring. Having a personality is one thing, being a top player is another. Being a top player with a personality is what we currently lack.

He also won TFC and Winter Brawl(post patch). He had a few post patch top 8s as well.

I'd personally go with Sonic, Theo, Jupiter but there's a case.

So you say nothing when online warriors fish for props for doing nothing, but when people with actual legitimate results over 5 years will multiple (dozens? hundreds?) top 8s and EVO medals discuss it you get your Jimmies rustled? Get over yourself.

I'm willing to concede there is a defensible argument for it, but I think that case is a lot less compelling than the case for Sonic/Theo/Jupiter. I'd go with that trio as well, and I don't think it's that close.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for sonic fox's skill level and accomplishment's... but humble is NOT a word I would use to describe him. T-Bagging, shit talking, "im better than you" talk... however he does it with a smile on his face. I don't mind if he isn't humble bc you have to have that killer instinct and confidence to be on top. but humble he is not. again a lot of respect for him though.

It's all so very confusing.
I don't entirely agree that results later in a games life utterly eclipse those that come early though.. very early, yes, I totally agree. First 6months or so are suspect.. but the games meta changes as well, it's not just a matter of people getting better
Well that's on you to make the decision, are you a competitor or an entertainer first?

I don't do this to entertain others, I do it to crush their dreams. So what you're saying is that you and PL are only remembered now because you're loud?

It'd be hype if either of you would win tournaments still, but since you're not, what weight do your words have to truly draw people in?

It's a double edged sword

Congrats then on being utterly forgettable the moment you arent dominant any more, also, congrats on a super shitty attitude. Crush their dreams? Grow up. Or try to, cause you kinda sound like a man-child.

Id also like to point out that Pig's words hold a hell of a lot more weight than yours because he's looking at things from multiple perspectives. He is also promoting and scene and has for a long time. I guess you dont get it, but there is no scene without other people. Without the 'public' being interested in the game and its various narrative threads its just you, a grown ass man (or close to grown id imagine you're at least 18) playing a video game on a couch somewhere vs a tiny handful of other man-children.. But hey, you're 'crushing their dreams' because you MKX gooder than they do!

Seriously, grow up. This bizarre entitled attitude is not only pathetic, it helps to kill the scene by degrees. I have no idea why anyone should overly care if you're good at a video game, if you do nothing to promote and push that game, but still walk around like you matter.

Ya know who's 10x more relevant? Promoters. Content creators. The guys that build and move the scene forward, not the one guy that's currently good at one game, mixed in with a bunch of other guys who are currently good at the game.

Im bad at fighting games, but I enjoy playing them. I have no relevance beyond my enjoyment and the money I put in through purchases and very rare donations, but my voice is by far the most numerous in the FGC and without my voice and voices like it, there is no FGC. Am I entitled to something for that? No, no Im not. Excepting the thing we are all entitled to and that's our opinions. And my opinion and the opinion of thousands of others like me, is that the people who give back to the scene are FAR more valuable than the people that show up, expect some kind of entitled respect, then disappear having left no more of a mark than a handful of wins.

This is something the MOBA community has on us in spades.. A lot of sponsored MOBA players have contractual obligations regarding content creation and stream time, etc, so they help grow the scene while that scene helps support them.,

First of all, F0xy is being 100% serious when he says he crushes dreams on an internet forum focused on video games.

Second, random forum-goers are not the FGC, let's make that clear. F0xy spends a lot of time and money travelling and helping people around, he brings excitment and it's always great to have him around, he's a big part of the scene and has been for years.

Also, equating spending thousands of dollars and hours travelling somewhere to watching a stream gave me literal aids. I am now dead. Congrats.

What's up with the butthurt replies in this thread?

Appeal to everyone else by...doing exactly what EVERYONE else does? I have no idea why we're supposed to grovel and beg for new players when A) There's not exactly a problem with numbers and B) This is the same type of forum stuff that every community gets involved in.

Look at Nuckledu, who's probably the most popular American SFV player right now. In SFIV, he went to WNF and intentially trolled the hell out of the whole crew by doing taunts mid match and playing like an idiot, then he won! And when they complained, he said "I just expected good players to be able to stop me, and there were none," and people thought that was AWESOME. A dude shows up knowing he's the best and he shows it in dominating fashion. It made him more popular than ever. It's why people love Conor McGregor.

He also goes on record when he says he loses to nonsense or players who aren't as good as him. It just happens, every competitive person is like this, why are we any different? Because it's more open, I guess? Top players get in pissing contests all the time, it doesn't mean that it's "toxic," it's just the scene being healthy.

A lot of times, everyone also takes the forum talk as players being inapproachable, and that's simply completely untrue. If you come up to talk, they will talk to you, they are not monsters. They just don't really care about your opinion of the game they are dominant in because, frankly, they probably know better most of the time. Is this a crime worth decrying the whole scene? Sweet Christmas.

The most insulting thing here is to imply that these people asking for props don't care. They wouldn't ASK if they didn't care, dude. Everyone wants to be the best, and would prefer if it was over a group of 1000 than 100. You're talking like they're actively trying to kill the scene, and that's so dumb. I think you really need to look outside your bubble at what makes competitive sports so watchable and really re-evaluate your position, because it stinks.

This is the most elitist community I've ever seen. It's all title prop fishing and fake validation from a really small community.

No wonder this community never grows, it's gets clout from a new release with a few new members and then begins to dwindle down to the same fucking bullshit.

If you're good and you want validation share your knowledge with the community and try to grow.

Who cares if anyone is top 3 out of a couple hundred, if that, people? This is the type of shit that pushes people away, not brings them in.
Nah, there is definitely more elitist communities for sure honestly. Most of the top players here are cool with everyone, no matter the skill level. I've had long conversations with random players I just met for the first time at tournaments, played long sets with them and everything. I've seen DJT play some random for like half hour straight before because the guy was a fan. I've seen Michael Angelo instantly become cool with any random new person that comes and says hi to him.

No offense to other communites, but I feel like a random newcomer would NEVER get casuals out of like Mew2King, Tokido, things like that. Not to say there's anything wrong with that, they are probably much busier than us. All I'm saying is compared to other communites, I feel like the NRS community is actually one of least elitest of all. The NRS community is where you see the most interaction between high level and low level players, whether it be playing casuals, giving advice on matchups, or just striking up conversation in general.

By the way we are for a fact growing. I've been competing since 2012, and we were WAY smaller back then. The community has grown larger and larger every year, and now during MKX the community was definitely the largest it's ever been. The competition is honestly the best it's ever been too.

Also, there's nothing wrong with debating which players are better than which. Just like there's no harm in debating which characters are better than which, it's all in good fun and it's very interesting. You see this thread got over 10,000 views in less than a week, there's obviously something about this thread that's attracting alot of attention that many of the other threads on TYM fail to do.

Sorry, but everything in your post is just dead wrong

This thread is chock full of JUICE. Man. Entertaining as Hell on a boring day.

I'm also learning quite a bit more about most of the players being discussed in here (Pig, Wound, Bit, etc).
