Well Yomi wasn't the same 2016 as it was 2015. We all disbanded around October 2015. So who knows if we would have continued our dominance or not had we stuck together all of 2016 and did the same exact thing we did in 2015. I'd also like to say that me Slayer and Michael Angelo still made some key top 8's in 2016 anyways, on our own without the training of Yomi.

Most important of all Cowboy was not playing in a bad matchup in our first to 10. Shinnok vs Lao/Pred were definitley 5-5 matchups. I'm not really going to open that can of worms because Cowboy isn't honest about his characters so there is no point in arguing, it won't get anywhere
In that patch, after BS's nerfs, the match up with HQT was bad in my opinion. I don't recall how the Lao MU was though.

MKX isn't debatable. Last I remember, I mopped you up for my second EVO medal. Thanks for that by the way, it's hanging on my wall right now.

HQT got nerfed too in that same exact patch lol. Just as much. I don't see how it's a bad matchup. Shinnok's zoning contested HQT, Shinnok fireball does WAY more damage than HQT fireball. Also if HQT gets his with a fireball he has to block the next one, he can't just fireball before the next one. Up close Shinnok's mix is way better and unreactable, you can react/fuzzy all of Predator's mixups. I don't see how it's a bad matchup

BS couldn't contest HQT's zoning, just look at the set itself. The EX scoop helped, but HQT still heavily won the zoning war.

Up close is more up to debate, but while Shinnok got the mixups, Predator had footsies. Besides HQT's mixes were weaker but safer, so it's not like he was that far behind there either.

You can't really say that HQT got nerfed as much as BS with that patch, I mean people were even joking about cancelling the set after the patch for how much BS got hit.

Impostor vs HQT, on the other hand, was more even in my opinion. I don't want to give numbers, but it probably was around 5-5.

What results in Injustice and MKX are you guys basing the PL pick on?
Well PL was an ESL finalist in all 3 seasons, plus won the biggest mk tournament in history at mk9 2011 plus repeated including a victory over REO in the mirror!! Where he didn't even make top 8. Carl deserves a spot for that even not doing much in injustice as he laid the groundwork for NRS expectations

As someone who wasn't around during the mk9 days but wants to educate themself, is there a collective site of all the tournament top 8s during mk9?

Similar to the srk ranking website. That way we have a reference point to look at. (I know srk isn't 100% accurate but it's better than nothing)

This list is about the achievements in all 3 NRS games combined. PL and REO were the best in MK9, but you can't just say their achievements in MK9 alone were so good it automatically puts them up in top 5 NRS players. The same way you can't say Theo's Injustice achievements alone are good enough to put him top NRS players of all time, the same way you can't say Dragon/Hayatei MKX achievements are so good it puts them up in best NRS players of all time.

The whole point of this list is people who have a great achievements in ALL 3 games, not just 1 or 2

PL underperformed in Injustice and was/is pretty irrelevant in MKX, but 2 EVOs are two EVOs. He's top 3 by default. Sonic Fox is easily number 1, obviously.

The rest is difficult since many who were insanely good at MK9 underperformed in the other games. DJT is obviously there and it's not debatable, and I think I'd still go with REO.

5th spot is tough. A toss up between between Pig and Wound. I'd go with Wound because he was absolutely elite at all 3 games, no disrespect to Pig, whose dominance in MK9 alone and his multiple Injustice top 8's/EVO final make him a strong candidate as well.

I still think this is a bit flawed because there seems to be bias (including from myself) towards the MK9 days. For instance, there is no debate that Wound was a far more consistent player than REO across all three games, but for some reason I find it hard to rank him above him.

I voted sonic, djt, king, cowboy and MIT

Ive won multiple tournaments in each game, but not in MURIKA. Who cares if you've won 20+ tournaments over in eu. Only once did i get to go to america in those 4 years. And that 1 time was a bit of an ordeal anyway.

I have yet to see the Hall Of Fame with only 5 players in it.

In no way am I in top 5. I only have A LOT of MK9 top 8's, several IGAU top 8's, and a bunch of 9th and top 16 finishes in MKX where only myself and Madzin have done this at BIG majors in the USA using all SZ. But I appreciate the one guy who mentioned me.
Why do you have to bring Madzin up every time?

Say what u want about pl, cd, P2w, M2dave, Maxter, tom, 16 bit, cd Jr, Reo, kdz, myself and some others but at least we had personality and the rivalries were real

Now a days it's about hugs n kisses and "oh god plz be nice" and "YO bro where's the weed at let's get toked"

Just different and lame

@Tweedy is a new school player who belongs in old school though that's why it was refreshing
Ok but what about the players now that were around then?
I'd chat shit before but not now because there's nothing to gain.

Orrrrrrrrrrr, you could say that all the oldschool heads are only loud now because you're not actually doing anything anymore, come at me BRO. With the exception of people like REO ofcourse.
Times change, competition evolves, people mature.

Gone are the days where the NRS community is dominated by men 30+. We've entered a new age. I suppose its kind of ironic that the younger generation are more mature about it.

I mean I'm not seeing any debates of anyone taking my 3rd spot lol. All I've seen in this thread is "How come Perfect Legend isn't higher" or "I think Wound should be top 3" or "King definitely isn't top 3"

But I haven't seen any legitamate explanation like the long post I gave for my top 5, as to who could possibly take my 3rd place spot. Anyone who's better than me in MK9, they aren't better than me in Injustice nor MKX. Anyone who's better than me in MKX, they aren't better than me in MK9 nor Injustice. And anyone who's better than me in Injustice, they aren't better than me in MKX nor MK9. The only exceptions being Sonicfox and DJT, obviously

I have like the perfect balance of the 3 games. If I played everyone in the world in all 3 NRS games, I could almost guarantee I would beat them in 2 out of the 3 games for sure. Unless their names are DJT or Sonicfox

The atlantic ocean did the titanic no favours, and ForeverKing plenty.... :DOGE

Biggest NRS tournament in history was EVO 2015, had more entrants than all mk9 evos combined.
I'd also go far enough to say that the further down the line of NRS games competition got harder.
MK9 was mainly just east coast business.
Inj1 introduced the threat of the west coast
MKX introduced international competition, with each advancement, top players from beforehand have dropped off. Is this due to the game, or the expanded player base?

Resolution through knowledge and resolve.
NRS games have evolved in that the classic approach no longer yields the best results. It used to be know the matchups and do what you do. Now its know the matchups and counter your opponent's tendencies until he hesitates and then do what you do. Those that haven't caught on and implemented this from go have had their struggles against those that have. I know I'm oversimplifying a bit, but its the clearest picture I can paint with assaulting you with a wall if text.

Everything people put their all into evolves and the evolution will continue until every one of us hit the moment where we lose track of its vision.

This thread is so good it even brought back Coolwhip lol. In my opinion when ranking best NRS players, you can't let achievements from one game overpower achievements from another game. Every game equals eachother. So if player A is better than player B at MK9, but Player B is better than player A at both Injustice and MKX, player B wins by default. So even if you were #1 in the world in one game (for example REO MK9) if somebody else has MKX and Injustice over you, they are a better NRS player.

That's how I would rank it anyways

Ayyyyy. You didn't want to come catch this Aquaman/Martian over here in America anyways, those characters were broke :p I wish we did play MK9 in tournament though

But thats clearly not true, if 2011 EVO can in no realm be as difficult of a tournament as 2015 evo. Considering the numbers and the quality players that entered both.

If you wanted to go by this logic, then you have to include EU, in that case I'd be the greatest NRS player of the past 3 games, but its just not true.

I mean even if you include EU, wouldn't Sonic still have won the most Injustice and MKX tournaments? But I see what you mean. The competition is definitely harder now a days, there's no debating that. All I'm trying to say is you can't let one game's achievements overpower another games achievements. Like you can't say Theo is a better NRS player than Perfect Legend, because all of Theo's achievements are in one game and Carl has alot in 2 and some in 1

@Pig Of The Hut I have another perfect example that disproves your Evo theory more. Let's talk about Jupiter in Injustice. You would say Jupiter is one of the best Injustice players in the world right? He probably was the best in the world at one period of time. You would say he is easily, undebatably top 3 in the world of all time in Injustice right? Well he has 0 Evo medals.

How could somebody with 0 Evo medals be considered one of the best of all time? It's because of their CONSISTENCY. Yeah Jupiter never placed top 8 at Evo before, but his being able to place top 8 all year round in basically every single other tournament besides Evo gives him that recognition of best of all time. Would you put Noobe, yourself, Pimpimjim, Slayer, etc. over Jupiter in Injustice for you guys' Evo medals because he doesn't have one? Of course not, his consistency all year round in Injustice outside of Evo puts him above all the Evo placers besides Theo and Sonic

16 Bit

Mash d+1~Cat Claws
Elder God
NetherRealm Studios
I think an argument could actually be made for Jupiter not being top 3 though. You could go with Sonic, Theo and KDZ. Depends on how much you weigh early game stuff. Either way, Jupiter and yourself are top 5 players and I would say winning your respective KIT and MLG placings pretty much solidify those spots.

Basically, EVO isn't everything, but it's A LOT. You need to win bigly to make up for not having that. You and Jupiter did. Most didn't.

Of all time?

16 bit. Don't care where he works now he deserves a mention for mk 9 and injustice.

My honourable mention is Chris g. Not a "hall of famer" per say but he did do a lot of damage in tournaments no denying that. May have something to do with his character choices or not I am not sure. Hella fundamentals.

Not by King's criteria for this thread. If he'd won EVO in 2 different NRS games (or had EVO medals in IGAU/MKX) you might have a case there, but this is more about people who were fear-inducing top players in all 3 games.
