What does anti hero mean?

A hero who isn't really focused on doing ''the right thing''. But they are kind of still doing the right thing for different reasons. For example a mercenary who does the right thing for money and not for the sake of doing something good. Kinda like cloud from ff7 at the beginning of the game.
