Street Fighter V General Discussion

Needs to be less talk about balance patches. Aside from small fixes to things like option selects, we likely aren't getting any until after Capcom Cup.

As for Nash, aside from losing out to the footsie characters (the same characters Daigo, Momochi, Mago, et. al. have been calling top tier such as Chun), his main issue is his lack of a reversal. Even though set play is (thankfully) gone, some of the mixup characters can still put up some oppressive stuff. Just look at how Europe thinks Laura is top tier. This is in part because, once she gets the ball rolling, it's hard to get out of her mixups if you don't have an invincible reversal.

Now the Japanese however, it already seems that they've scouted this out. Majority of the characters they agree upon as being top tier do have invincible reversals on top of having very good footsies. Only Chun is at a slight disadvantage because she needs meter for hers, but she makes up for it by having arguably the best buttons in the game.

What Nash does have in his favor is that he's relatively easy to pick up, play and win with up to a point. His dash gives him something that can help him get in on players with bad fundamentals. That said, ease of use rarely ever makes someone top tier - or else Zero wouldn't be top tier in Marvel 3, and Sentinel wouldn't be a god in Marvel 2. As has been stated, alot of his go to tools can be countered, it's only a matter of players learning how to.

What about Gief :DOGE

I saw the video you posted. Was it just a name swap or were your points and everything switched too?

Edit: I've been hunting around online looking for an answer for you, but it appears that everywhere I go you've already posted something. Have you tried deleting game data or reinstalling from scratch?

it got fixed

Wetdoba

All too easy...
Nash gets outpoked by other top tiers easily (chun li hate). The moonsault gets antiaired so easy even people randomly spamming jabs out of fear do it.

What makes him top tier is his dash, which is godlike. Infiltration dashed the fk out of the competition last tourney.
His dash makes everything else he has look very strong.

He's Nash. And he has a dash. Nash. Dash. NASHDASH!!!!!1
Also his non charge sonic booms lol

The speculation comes to Design & Trend via the Capcom-Unity forums with help from NeoGAF. During Final Round 19 this weekend, players watching the event stream noticed some curious statements.

(Photo : Capcom/Steam) "Street Fighter V's" March update and Alex character DLC may be revealed at a tournament this week according to recent rumors. A message from a prominent Twitch streamer gave rise to the speculation. "Street Fighter V" is available now on PS4 and PC.
"Street Fighter V" fans have been anxious for details about the game's March update, and new rumors may reveal when it's coming. With a major tournament set for later this week, an Alex reveal seems possible.
At one point in the Twitch chat, the CapcomFighters account asked viewers if they wanted to know more details about the March update. When the affirmative replies poured in, the account said "NCR is next week, please tune in" with a winking emoticon. As this tease appeared to come from an official Capcom Cup source, fighting game enthusiasts are freaking out. Could this truly imply that a big announcement is due in the next few days?

It certainly looks that way on the surface, but fans may want to temper their expectations a bit. Upon closer analysis, it was determined that a popular streamer by the name of Honzo Gonzo was responsible for typing the statement. While his reputation as a "Street Fighter" content producer might possibly give him some insider knowledge of Capcom's plans, this online personality is also known for being a massive troll. As is the standard in the games industry, everything he's mentioned should be taken with a grain of salt.

That being said, much of the "Street Fighter V" community is inclined to agree with Honzo even if they don't completely trust the source. As one player pointed out, the upcoming March update intends to remove Option-select features from the game. To pro combatants, this change would fundamentally alter how it plays. Because of this, it would be foolish for Capcom to revise anything with the NorCal Regionals so close. It would be fairer from a competitive standpoint to make that adjustment after the tournament finishes on March 27.

Ergo, a common belief is that the event could close with an Alex demo or March update showcase to dazzle attendees. Since it's approaching the end of the month, the patch could be pushed immediately after the reveal or in the following days.

Should the above rumors be true, a NCR reveal would also abide by Capcom's current "Street Fighter V" strategy of pandering to its pro community. Considering the fighting game launched with such little content in tow, many feel it was released early to arrive before the major tournament cycle began. If that's the case, there's no doubt that this developer is putting its eSports customers first.

"Street Fighter V" is available now on PS4 and PC.
