Hell sparks = soul sparks.

I mean hell sparks were already a rip off Shang's ground skulls. They were just way more effective gameplay wise. There is a big chance that Shang is going to have those)

My biggest worry with Shang being DLC was that he wouldn't be a part of the story. I really wanted him to interact with these characters.

But since he has a model that's ready to go, that means he could be in the story without being fightable. Really crossing my fingers.

Wonder what Shang's gear will be. He's not wearing an amulet in the trailer, which would have been my first guess for gear for him. Maybe they have the "no amulet" amulet equipped?

Someone pointed out that he seems to have a sword sheath, just like MK1. So that's for sure gotta be one of them.

Going back to his island, knowing nobody but the monks and Masked Guards would be there and then taking all their souls (as well as a Goro bonus) for a big powerup is a pretty cool Shang Tsung thing to do. Really hoping that's actually the case in the game.

That looks so sick man. All I wanted was movie Shang or old man Shang. They gave me both and I couldn’t be happier. He will have his movie skin as well I have no doubt. Being the narrator in the krypt is my favorite announcement so far lmao. Followed by Kahn preorder dlc. The preorder and the dlc has me most hype lmao. Yeah it’s weird but it sucks to see people think they are getting screwed by it.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Cary got his share of the characters profits. Maybe they just need more time to get him right. I don’t care what the reason is, I love it. Couldn’t be happier with an announcement/reveal/event.

But guess what? You could play him in a more offensive and close ranged way right? Due to the variations right? Those are back, expect Shang to have more than projectiles in his new kit.

Also expect that character in your AV to have some whacky and highly spammable projectiles in his kit.

Yeah, I feel the same. He was so scary and creepy in the original Mortal Kombat. You could tell he's seen and done some shit.

I actually really like the change. I feel it goes really well with the fact that Shang is a master deceiver, he would totally try to make himself seem as frail and helpless as possible to trick people. Matter of fact isn't that how he tricked Kenshi?

I think the only problem right now (to me) is that this is old Shang Tsung and his eyes aren't white. So he looks too normal.

I hope the costumization allows to make him look like this:

You missed the entire point there.

The variation system means even characters with zoning centric designs can be made to not be zoners.

2/3 Erron variations in MKX were designed around zoning but you could totally play him on the other side of the spectrum if you chose to do so.

Worrying about Shang being “spammy” seems hypocritical when the guy in your avatar proves that having good projectiles doesn’t mean you’re going to be a hard zoner in a game where you have playstyle options.
