Going back to his island, knowing nobody but the monks and Masked Guards would be there and then taking all their souls (as well as a Goro bonus) for a big powerup is a pretty cool Shang Tsung thing to do. Really hoping that's actually the case in the game.

Gotta make up for all the souls Shao Kahn took out of him and put in Sindel.
