Poison Ivy Speculation Thread

Do you think Poison Ivy will be more of a Trap/Setup type or Mid range neutral type character?

Nah she does the grab raw both times, MB does a stun for a follow-up.
Unless you're talking about the leg clutch one which definitely looks like a string ender.
.
Ya I meant the leg clutch snake strike grab.

I wasn't sure if the kiss was a grab or not because the startup animation is kinda goofy?
If it's a grab that would be awesome.

I'm hoping it is lol. There's a chance that it's like Kano's choke coz a grab that can be MB'd to full combo seems cheap, but then again we have Cryo who does just that.

Maybe the leg grab will have an MB addition for damage or a pop-up, she falls pretty slow after it so I think it's a fair assumption. Very similar delay to Alien's rekkas and Reptile's grab string.

Her Vine sparks look like they'll track, otherwise the spacing for that combo on Bane is on point. If they do then she'll have a tool for anti-zoner like AQ's from the deep.

Lastly I'm already worried about her wake-up as it'll probably be kiss grab...

Her projectile was the only move that uses her back plants so that can't be gear moves right... right?

I imagine the dino plant has to be her trait because she is also using the stance moves from the plant mace at the same time in the footage so it has to be her trait I think, could be a gear trait though, hopefully not.

All of her slap/punch/snake strike hand normals use the plants as well.

It's hard to see from youtube compression, but when she slaps you, the monsters bite the opponent.

I hope that dino thing isn't a gear move but since they always seem to show gear moves in their trailers, I'm afraid it is :/

It looks cool af though.

the cartwheel. do you think it is a special or just part of the string? It appears twice but have different properties each time.

Let the gif speculation begin I guess.

Jump in definitely hits twice, if you don't believe me go and watch the video, you can clearly hear the double hit sound when the move hits. Next we've got a fast jab string that ends in a low and goes into what appears to be an overhead cartwheel. The cartwheel could be part of the string or a special. The low vines return again, I'm not really sure about the applications of spending the meter to launch because it appears that Ivy can't get a followup from what I've seen and she seems to want to play a close up game so pushing her opponent away seems counter productive but maybe it has applications in the corner. Finally the plant mace we saw teased previously, I believe this is going to be similar to how Erron Black's gunslinger or Cover Ops Sonya's stances work with a special input into the stance and then three options out of it with a fourth to cancel it. Here we see a long range low that knocks down. Also just quickly I think the string before low vines is a mid.

So here we see the bear trap interactable again which is pretty cool. Again we see the b3. After the jump in we can see what looks like a low starter string which we may be able to cancel on the second hit. It also looks like the string may launch grounded opponents but I'm not sure since Robin was already in the air.

String into what appears to be some sort of grab ender, not sure what the potential is here except as just an ender for combos.

This one is a bit weird, either it's a regular special or a command grab which can be meterburned for a followup, I'm not really sure which, it's hard to tell because they just do it raw.

Same move as above I think but without the meterburn, it seems like it's just a plus restand in this version as opposed to the meterburn one which combos with it's followup. So when she meterburns this move, Ivy will kiss her opponent but otherwise she will go in for the kiss and then slap her opponent away, pretty cool way to involve personality in her move set.

Some sort of pollen projectile for the flowers on Ivy's back, most likely a gear move. I was correct in suspecting that the rising flower was her throw animation, looks pretty awesome to me.

Another string which may be a mid, I'm unsure and another overhead cartwheel but this time it knocks down, I believe this is part of the string this time around though. Next DINO PLANT! I've seen people speculate a lot about this and honestly I think it's her trait for one reason and that is that the dino is being used while Ivy is still hitting strings and plant mace specials, so I figure it has to be her trait so that it can be used independent of her other specials. It may be a gear trait but I'm pretty damn sure it is a trait nonetheless, hopefully her vanilla one cause that is sick, sort of in the same vein as Atrocitus and Dex-starr. Here we see another option out of the plant mace stance, which hits the opponent multiple times and then launches them for a followup.

So we have a low starting string and here is our overhead starter which also goes into a low and is able to be special cancelled as you can see it's cancelled into her super.

The complete super, sorry about the frame rate on this one.

That win pose, our Queen of Green.

So that's all I've observed so far, what else have you guys figured out from this trailer?

Well, I wanna see everything in her stream before I judge her but Idk... I was expecting more... Plants :( and that Joshi looks great haha, I kinda think it's gonna be her actual trait!
I hate the fact that she is a mix-up character fromwhat we've seen so far.. Ugh.

pretty sure you can follow up her from the deep MB move. in the trailer maybe the opponent is far away so she couldn't get much off of it

Y'all buggin. Ivy looks dope. I liked what I saw. Why everyone so scurred of neutral and only want the easy setplay shit? Pfff this trailer hasn't swayed me she's still gonna be my secondary. :p

Nah I think she'll be fine all around, she has range on her strings, highs and lows, possible command grab, stance for shenanigans and if florasaurus is her trait then crazy pressure and mixups. The only concern is how she'll get in but if the Vine sparks track like from the deep then we're all set.

My only real concern(s) is how many of the 4 specials we saw are gear only, and what her wake-up will be, kiss grab is mostly likely and grab wake-ups are trash but I'm still staying hopeful.

Question. Do you guys think it would be weird if a guy named baconlord mained poison ivy? Considering I got the whole meat thing going on
She's not vegan, she only cares about plant life, she couldn't care less about animals. If anything she'd support eating meat over plants. Totally accurate name for maining her.

She's not what I was expecting but it's probably a good thing. My full screen game has always sucked. Here's to hoping Ivysaur is the standard trait
