PL says "KL NOT IN TOP TEN"

You fools are missing the larger point.

Perfect Legend also states that the community has been getting better and better by the day. He used to be able to attend a major tournament and spam teleport 3 to victory. To be fair, the same applies to other players. I, for example, used to be able to attend a major tournament and spam Freddy's basic zoning and place top 8. However, players have done their homework and winning has become a lot more difficult. All Perfect Legend is saying is that you need to adjust your gameplay and find other ways to win.

Besides, every high level player has a bad showing now and then. Remember that REO did not even place top 16 at Evolution this year.

PL's statement is certainly controversial (to say the least) for 3 reasons:

1. People see it as him making excuses.

2. It's in contradiction to what the community and other top players agree with.

3. It implies he won EVO with a mid.tier character.

There are always times when high level players doubt their main character's potential. To give an example with REO again, he used to believe that Jax beat Kabal until he made the appropriate gameplay adjustments and started winning. Likewise, Maxter wanted to drop Cyrax for Sektor.

This statement is not controversial, especially if you know how Perfect Legend operates. I have no doubt in my mind that he will adjust just like he did after MLG Columbus.

Let's not question PL's credentials, please. Kung Lao's issue is that he *has* to commit to spin in order to use his full potential. I believe usedforglue is the one that says "spin to win", and he's right. This means that KL has to commit to eating full combos once im a while. Relying too heavily on standing 1 and 2 will most certainly get you blown up against low hitbox characters.

give me a break...Kung Lao is top 5 and he is never leaving that status. Sorry to burst PL's bubble, but just because KL has some match ups where he gets punished and can't just do whatever the F he wants doesn't mean that he is outside of the top ten.

It took M2Dave to be serious for once for someone to finally put some sense into this thread. Agreed with the above and especially, the other post you made about people leveling up. It is so obvious. For example, watch your average top player gameplay from March, and compare it to what someone like Dizzy does now. It's night and day. The guy punishes every poke, every whiffed normal, anti-airs almost every jump, and does it to maximum damage.

I think PL will find out that Kung Lao is top 5 and never left there if he does what he did after Columbus and tries to figure out different ways to play him in certain match-ups. I hope MLG picks up MK next year (at least for the winter championships) to give players incentive to keep leveling up and improving.

I agree. Everyone, casual or pro, hits a wall hard to climb now and then.

Nonetheless, this is controversial for the reasons I posted. Otherwise it wouldn't have escalated this quickly.

People seem mad and salty just because PL said this. M2Dave is right about REO saying that about Jax, I didn't see this many people raging when that statement was made. Lol.

I agree.

Dizzy has especially improved. It almost seems like you need to be a high level Kabal, Kenshi, or Sub Zero player to beat this guy. Everything he does is 100% on point.

I don't know how he can say that. It seems like the only characters he has struggled against in tournament are Cage and Cyrax and that makes him not in the top ten? I don't know about that.

Let's be serious here. KL is top 10. The "footsies KL" talking point needs to go away too. The Carl frantic KL jumping around like an idiot KL is the best KL. let's stop pretending otherwise. No one's doing anything with footsies KL. I don't even think people saying it know what they're talking about.
QFTT!!!

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
Well hey, Scorpion punishes tele3s for 41% meterless, lets all pitch in together, call it a bad matchup for Lao and push mah character up the ranks :tonyt

LBSH, all this propaganda regarding "Kung Lao's bad matchups" is just baseless theory fighting.

Hell, if you really stop and think about it, the reasons Sektor, Kitana and Cage supposedly beat KL, were no different pre-patch, maybe even VANILLA, but you guys were absolutely dead set against the idea that a character not patched in this game would have a single bad matchup.

And what's this shit about Kabal beating Kung Lao? Kabal has a HORRIBLE track record against KL in tournament.
(except Junior, I wonder why #Kappa)

kung lao has 24 21 spin dive kick and tele, 2 different projectiles a decent overhead.... spin.... teleport.... kung lao loses to 1 character and that character is kabal and kung lao is the best character to fight kabal in this game with arguably... he has an advantage against most of the cast.... people who are retards win with him on occasion because of how random he is. the man has a fucking 7 frame jab god damnit and he has every option to get in with i dont care if low hit box chars can give him problems, hes more than fine vs cage, hes fine vs sonya... his footsies are amazing.... all you have to do vs johnny cage is 24 overhead all day long and run away.... all you have to do vs sonya is play the zoning game, bait a projectile, get in, get out, rinse and repeat.
Id like to see you whiff that 24... f33/b3 whiff punish and if the opponent crosses you over at the right moment which isent hard to time youre dead. and if your opponent doesnt whiff punishes he will get in and once cage get in he will get at least 15% chip and if he gets the read he will take half your life
