NRS could make Mortal Kombat: Armageddon roster in MK11 and people would still find something to complain about.

 

Which makes no sense considering how MK started. With references to these characters. Terminator, Ghost Rider, Bruce Lee, JCVD, Big Trouble Little China.

If you would've told the MK team all those years ago that eventually they'd have Rambo, Terminator, Predator etc in their games they'd be stoked. The whole foundation of MK was all these wild characters coming together

So because certain MK characters were inspired by some of these names a few decades ago, they should now be added to the roster over actual MK characters? Yeah, that DOES make a lot of sense.

 

I now want a John Matrix/Commando inspired skin for Terminator and an Expendables inspired skin for Rambo.

Having a mindset that these guests are maliciously added to ensure that no MK originals get added is silly, for all you know NRS had already made the main roster full of MK characters and decided to add these 80s movie characters in afterwards. I'm gonna be honest even though I like mileena after how nasty and disrespectful some of her fans were I don't think she should of made it in the game, but whatevs still gonna play her.

I also suspect that the huge success of the guest characters plays a part in allowing NRS to continue to pump out content.

There's nothing toxic about it. There's no fighter out there with this many guests in it. I find it dumb, always have. And who are these "most fans"? I could just as easily say, most fans prefer no guests.

Its a fact that when you allocate time and resources to creating 5 guest characters, it means you have 5 less MK characters you can work on. I would have been fine with 2 to 3, but suggesting that 5 guests aren't enough in a roster of 37 is just stupid. Just look at Robocop. What a bland, boring character. What is his gameplay? He shoots his gun 90% of the time from full screen. Wooow! The creativity, cause we didn't have enough gun wielding idiots in this game yet. But hey, he makes it in over Reptile because TeRmiNaToR vs RoBOCoP! Who even asked for this character. Three people on Twitter? And now, we get Rambo!! Oh man, I can't wait to see the diversity and creativity with this one!

They've gone on record multiple times saying guests sell more than the standard MK dlc characters.

 

Cherry picking Robocop's zoning design as a marker of bad creativity concerning guest characters is a bad look, considering literally every other one of them have interesting and varied playstyles. Just 'cause Robocop is designed as a zoner, which inherently means projectile "spam" doesn't meant that he's not creatively designed for the game himself. There's clear creative effort in his animations, moveset, brutalities, fatalities etc... Shang V1 is a zoning character, plays very similarly to Robocop, so I think'd it be better for you to just stick with being upset that there's guest characters as a concept rather than to suggest they're badly implemented.

As for the "most fans". I mean. We can look to the sample size of... this thread. A few people mad that Rambo is being added, but most generally excited for it or at least okay with him being added. Extrapolate that into the size of the full MK fanbase...

I'm not sad about her being in the game, it isn't about the character or people happy with her coming. But I don't agree with how the process went and any mentally healthy person wouldn't agree either.

Pretty much. People would still complain about inclusion of characters they personally don't care about even though they wouldn't be "stealing a slot" from anyone.

Show you what? That the majority of her fans aren’t toxic? That should be pretty obvious to, idk, anybody. Like just scroll through Mileena fan pages and most are just fangirls/boys. I can name maybe two accounts who are legit toxic that still exist.

People honest to god can't grasp the fact that not every single Mileena fan is or was toxic. Literally the first tweet I saw under Ed's Kobe post was talking about Mileena AND Spawn requests...Like they wanna act like Mileena fans are the only ones who acted like that. Nah, Mileena fans are just the ones y'all hyped up and continued to respond to. Y'all fed into the toxicity because y'all would rather acknowledge and argue on social media instead of just reporting or blocking people who talk about or request characters you don't wanna see.

All the people who shit on Mileena fans need to show that same energy for Spawn, Ash, the male ninjas, Stryker, etc.

 

The weight of the guilt for this whole Mileena situation can fall on more than one party, y'know. To say that a subsection of her fanbase wasn't on the most insanely toxic brigade for the character in recent memory would be denying facts. Equating that -specific- group in with people who have lobbied for other characters is just silly.
Was it all Mileena fans. No. That fact doesn't excuse the behavior of the apparent vocal minority of them though, and I also don't think it's right to just pretend that shit never happened and sweep it under the rug to be forgotten just because she was put into the game.
But, neither is it right for people to be on this anti-Mileena fan crusade.

 

The only reason people think that Mileena fans are more toxic than any other community is becasue she has way more fans and a longer history in the game. In popularity polls, she is a top 5 or so fan favorite, so there is more likelihood of having some assholes in the community more visable.

Reiko, Hotaru, Nitara etc are in comparrison much less popular. The fools from these communities who are making death threats would just be ignored / laughed at.

Yeah, unless they add new trophies/achievements for the DLC characters like they did with when they were actually finished with MKX and Injustice 2, I don't think this will be it.

I will also add that it seems like Mileena should have a bit more suggestive costume....maybe her alternate is. Since she's supposed to be all seductive and stuff.
Her default ain't bad....it just needs to be a bit smaller.

I also firmly believe she should have been given Sindel's bust despite being a Kitana clone, she doesn't have to be just like Kitana after all...
