Kung lao outdamages jax in the matchup. Risk reward is always in kung laos favor unless he is cornered.Jax's tools just so happen counter Kung Lao yet he loses? HAAAAA
couldnt have said it better myself. and i like how u mentioned ex-spin. that move is so overlooked. its really quite a good wiff punisher.Kung lao outdamages jax in the matchup. Risk reward is always in kung laos favor unless he is cornered.
F4 gets blown up by 21 spin, jax can do f4into ex overhead smash but again risk reward...
kung lao's 21 is faster than jax's strings, his d4 outranges jax's pokes. His hats can avoid groundpound, ex spin on kockdown can blow up groundpoundsetups on reaction.
This is 6-4 kung lao. What does jax have over kung lao in the matchup? Imo the only reason this isn't 7-3 kung lao is because jax can get dangerous if he has momentum.
Lmao sure he does.Jax beats Lao 6-4. Easily.
F4~Overhead elbow can be blown up too. If you want to be safe with your punish attempt, just uppercut, but you can actually punish it with standing 2 into ex hat for a 42% combo (timing is pretty strict though). Which means that as you said, Jax would have to spend meter to do F4 into ex overhead smash. And if that's the only way to pressure, then he's fucked. The thing about the KL-Jax match-up is you can literally blow up every single one of his post F4 options unless he spends meter. You can just mash uppercut after F4 (if you're not confident in 21 spinning F413 or punishing F4~OHS, although the former is quite easy) and you'll beat anything he does including F4~square wave (or whatever his fireball is called) and even a raw F4 since it's punishable on block.Kung lao outdamages jax in the matchup. I don't much about Lao however it's most likely a safe bet to say Kabal is one of the few who beat him lmaoWhat are KL's losing match ups in November 2014? Somebody tell me please.
Edit: He was 5th on REO's list the other day.

Like every other post, you don't even know what I am talking about. I was talking about after KL gets knocked down, jax cannot do a groundpound mixup on kung lao because kung lao can punish that on reaction with ex spin. This is not overlooked, every decent kl player knows about this.couldnt have said it better myself. and i like how u mentioned ex-spin. that move is so overlooked. its really quite a good wiff punisher.

Moreover, Kung Lao's straight hat avoids ground pounds because he has one foot off the ground (it's a weird property. It works for Liu Kang's high fireball too and there might be others), and Kung Lao can blow up all of Jax's ground pound cancel set-ups on knockdown by doing wake-up ex~spin.
F3 avoids all of Jax's wake-ups, including his armored ones, and if timed right can actually be cancelled into spin (you have to reverse the input since you emerge on the other side) and blow up his wake-ups completely. 21 spin is also one of the most reliable punishers for Jax's dash punch in the whole game.
Kung Lao can just zone, D4, F2, 24 overhead, and blow up whatever Jax does in this match-up. Whoever thinks Kung Lao loses is probably teleporting like a mad man and getting blown up.
@Nuke Which character do you play and what's your experience in this match-up?
I use a lot, I'm an average player (Reptile, Kung Lao, Jax, Kano, Sonya and Quan Chi = my favs/mains).@Nuke Which character do you play and what's your experience in this match-up?

whats your opinion in mileena mu? imo its 5-5 coz of the low hitbox.Kung Lao's hard match ups
- Ermac, Sektor, Sonya, Cyrax, Cage and depending how you play it Kitana.
top 5:
Kabal (who I feel is overrated)
Sonya
Cyrax
Smoke (I think smoke beats everyone in the top 5 other than Kabal)
Kenshi
He can throw low hats forever and she has to deal with it and get punished by spin if she jumps since she doesnt have armor. He also can end all strings with low hats and she cant punish low hat on block up close.whats your opinion in mileena mu? imo its 5-5 coz of the low hitbox.
6-4 Lao, she has to take too many risks to open him up. He can just check her with 50/50's all game because her best answer to a blocked low hat is grab, and If I read that I might be able to sneak a spin in there. Lao can punish tele with spin or 2 ex-hat. D4 is annoying, U4 into 42 string/tele mix-up is annoying. Fuzzy guard B3,U4 mix-ups and this MU is freewhats your opinion in mileena mu? imo its 5-5 coz of the low hitbox.
Ermac controls Kung Laos neutral. Can't zone, Can't teleport, Can't Play footsies.Ermac, Mileena, Sektor, Kitana and Cyrax give Lao trouble because they blow up sloppy play with fat damage or quick punishers. Out of these 5 I think he loses 2 (Cyrax & Kitana). The other three just wait around for you to screw up and have mediocre at best offense.

Why can't he play footsies?Ermac controls Kung Laos neutral. Can't zone, Can't teleport, Can't Play footsies.
Agree to disagree on Kit.Ermac controls Kung Laos neutral. Can't zone, Can't teleport, Can't Play footsies.
Kitana does not beat Kung Lao.
Sektor controls Kung Laos neutral too for the same reason ermac does.
What about Sonya? How does she give KL a hard time?Ermac controls Kung Laos neutral. Can't zone, Can't teleport, Can't Play footsies.

Drastically out-footsies Lao, safe and very effective mix-ups/pressure. More Mid screen damage, Low hitbox, anti-cross-up uppercut bs; and last but not least, the moment we've all been waiting forWhat about Sonya? How does she give KL a hard time?
