It's too laggy to poke...
What do you guys use to punish Laos teleport on reaction? I'm not punishing it as cleanly or consistently as I want to. I've recently seen that u1 might be a pretty consistent punish for the teleport, but haven't tried it enough
D1 or jumpback ia divekick

I'm referring to the gap inbetween the two hits of the chakram.

I now know which strings it jails from though so I'm fine.
you should be aware its not necessarily the string but the distance it puts you back that creates the gapless chakram

you can have a gap in some like 22 ex chakram if done point blank but spaced out its gapless (this is actually pretty good too with 221 having a gap yet being a pretty good string)

Yeah all I know really (and really the most important ones) are that after the OH/low there is a gap.

I also played this matchup against Foxy grampa's mileena in the beta and I got crushed, did not do nearly as well as Gunshow did here. Somewhat depressing given that I have played Jin since release and Gunshow only picked him up a couple months ago. I got a lot of work to do!

I haven't watched the whole video yet so I'm not sure if foxy did it or not but last night I was playing a mileena and if I went for a f3 to break armor if she did a regular roll it would hit me every time by just rolling under the kick.

I wanna test it out when I get home to make sure it wasn't just an online thing but its something to look out for if it a thing.

Anyway I like the gameplay from what I've seen so far if your on Xbox we should play mirror sometime.

Don't be discouraged man. You're going to do just great with Jin. :D

Props to Gunshow in that ridiculously awesome long set. It's crazy how well he's playing Jin in such a relatively short period of time.

I'd like to take an informal poll here of Shaolin players regarding the following question: would making the second hit of B12 an overhead, rather than a mid, be an unreasonable buff or render the character broken?

I ask because one thing that I have noticed after playing tons of strong players in the beta (players that clearly known the shaolin matchup) is that it can be very difficult to get them to respect our existing overhead options. They default block low and don't seem to have any difficulty reacting to relatively slow overhead options such as F2, shaolin drop, F3 or flipkick. We of course have B21,2+4, which often connects even on the strong opponents that I am referring to, but this does not lead to a combo so the damage is obviously limited. If you fail to get opponents to respect the overhead option, things like ex chakram are a much less potent weapon.

Making the 2 in B12 an overhead would force opponents to have more respect for shaolin's overhead options in general, but I could see an argument being made that it would be too strong. What do you think?

B12 being low, mid is perfect. Mid, overhead would make blocking low, high, low that quickly would be hard.

I do B12 over f24 around 5:1 in the first match of the set so I can then play more randomly moving forward because they are looking for the low more often but kind of preps for the overhead.

Mix up with ex flip kick for the mixup finishers. I don't see people blocking my overheads too much.

If they made it an overhead, they'd probably either make the overhead armorable or the option afterwards armorable.

Pick your poison. I like it mid because it's guaranteed block damage and sets up for a 50/50 ender.

I think what Shaolin could use an oh that launches. Something to make opponents well versed in the MU respect it a tad more. Many other characters have over heads that lead to massive damage. The most you eat for an overhead from Shaolin if you fail to react is 8-12%. Maybe make b21, 2+4 bounce instead of knockdown. I think that would add a 50/50 type element to the end of the b21 string. I would love to see b12 go low, overhead also. But that change would solely benefit Shaolin and giving him both would be to much imo. I would love Shaolin to have them both but realistically that would be far to much. What are your thoughts?

Yeah giving him both of those things would be too much, but one or the other would provide a bit more balance in terms of what the opponent has to respect. It has just seemed to me recently, as more people have been picking up the character, that more opponents have fully "downloaded" the matchup and know that we ultimately we need to hit them with ex chakram for full damage, hence they default block low and more often not know when the overheads are coming

To be clear, I think Shaolin is a very solid character as is and does not need any buffs to be viable, but I'm trying to explore ways to increase his unpredictability.

Yeah, that'd be broken. No reason to create three 50-50s in like a one and a half second string, that's not what our character is about.
People don't react to forward 2, believe me. If they're an anime player and can react, they're just going to be blocking, not armoring. If they are armoring your overhead, they had a really good fuzzy guard planned in advance, and it worked out.
We don't always need to open them up that way, sometimes they deserve to be rewarded for good defense.

More overhead/low options would be overkill. I think Shaolin is in a pretty good place right now and definitely does not need any buffs.

What about 23 being a 7 frame high to mid pop-up opposed to whatever it is now? So we have an option to punish with meterless damage. More meterless damage options would be the deciding factor of ShaoJin being A+ to S

It looks overhead, it would be nice and it would be similar to other character's strings OH-LOW, I love Kung Jin's mix ups. Shaolin is also able to do chip, but when I have meter I like the idea of the safe-ish mix up.

Yeah. As he is already meter dependent to break 30% consistently just on more OH would go a long way. I agree and disagree with @PND OmegaK asthere are alread characters with fast oh, low strings. But as he is very safe and hard to punish, to much offensive ability and it would get out of hand. I would just like a more legitimate use of the b21, 2+4 string as b1 is a greatly deceiving poke. I'm happy with him as is but an overhead that commands a little more respect would be nice.
