Injustice: Gods Among Us, Season Pass Announced

I still hate the whole idea of DLC. Especially it being announced way before the game is out. They have probably already finished the work on the DLC but are just holding it out on us to make that $$$$$.
The idea of DLC is not bad for what it was meant to be.

Content that, after the game had shipped, developers thought would be cool to finish or something that they never had a chance to do... to release to the fans afterwards. Charging a small fee, but it was nothing to affect the story or make the game feel incomplete. And it most certainly wasn't on the disc to begin with.

When you're making DLC before you've even shipped the game in plans to release it on the same day the game comes out or you're locking things on the disc (disc locked content lol) and requiring people to pay for it to get the complete product they already purchased is when it becomes a problem.

DLC has become corrupted as most things involving money do. And it sucks.

I still think it's bad business practice on their behalf. Oh well, at least they have a bit of decency and will give us a reach around while they stick it in, the same can't be said for other thieves.
HAHA Of course he would say that, or anyone affiliated with NRS for that matter. Do you think they'd tell you otherwise? Please man don't be so naive.
Go away.

Well, if the game ships and people find characters on the disc, unlock them, and start playing with them online, I'll eat my words.

But I wouldn't bet on it. You've clearly played too many Capcom games.

Here's the ONE guest character I could really tolerate:

V. Only Evey Hammond is V.

I think this would actually be cool. Stupid. So very stupid. But not like getting stabbed. Like, if I unwittingly paid in advance for a guest character again, this deal would bother me the least.

Just if there is a guest character, he/she should at least be from a comic/"graphic novel" published by DC.

Agreed. This whole "season pass" is nothing more than a ploy to make more money. What message do they think they send to the consumers by announcing a season pass with 4 extra characters before the game even comes out or the full roster is revealed? They're pretty much telling you "Hey, we could have sold you a game with more content but guess what, we won't, we want you to pay more money to us in the long run to get the complete product you could have gotten on release day. But hey don't worry, you'll get 4 CHARACTERS FOR THE PRICE OF 3!".
lol DLC... the game isn't even out yet.

freakin money grabs...
Did you guys have a problem with MK's handling of DLC? If not, do you realize they announced their Season Pass on March 26th? Whereas this time it's on March 21st. People loved MK's DLC and how it was handled, and this will be no different.

Guess what, the game goes gold around a month before release. In case you don't know what gold means, it's when the game is finished and going into mass production and sent out to retailers etc. What do you want them to do now? They are jumping right into DLC. It makes sense, because it takes time to make these characters.

Oh wait a minute, I know what's going on here. You are just one of those gamers stuck in the past. You think anything not in the initial game is a scam. Always thinking each company is trying to nickle and dime you, making you pay for stuff you should already have. Paulo has stated they just started working on the first character. You can choose not to believe that, put on your tin foil hat and "stick it to the man". Claim we are all victims of shady corporate tactics... You're the one missing out.

YES!!!!!

..........Wut.
Maybe spoilers but... You know V dies at the end, right? And this game is like... 20-ish years (more? not clear) after that death. And Evey carries on as V? And this game is about Superman: The Despot. So there would be some decent story there.

Evey Hammond as V 2.0 vs. Superman's army of Killzone boxart cutouts. I'd watch that.

No, of course not... b/c like

randomdude is saying... it's a GREAT business practice, for the companies.

It's the players and their wallets that it hurts.
Is $15 really that bad? I make $10 an hour plus tips, so maybe it's not that bad imo, but if someone has a job, that can't take more than 2 hours worth of work. 2 hours for tons of hours using the 4 new characters...and added skins as a bonus? Sounds like a fair price to me. Plus it's more money for them for the next game. The more they make, the more WB is willing to shell out to promote the game and whatnot.

Eh some people just dont have that luxury becuase they dont have personal income or can only spent set amount of cash.

As for me I have more or less 200 bucks saved to spend on the game so no big deal to me.

Principle of the matter. A good deal of game companies are sectioning off parts of games that could easily be part of the full release and selling it off as DLC (Mass Effect, Dragon Age 2, Assasins Creed etc. etc.). Now, this isn't the case with MK9 or Injustice, but DLC in general these days is a dumb concept.

Yeah, they definitely could've added the characters if they pushed the game back 3-6 months to add them to the game. Then, when they decide to start the development of the DLC in the final couple months where it's just balancing, testing and touchups they can push it back another 3-6 months to add THOSE characters, and it can go on and on.

If the DLC did not exist, would one say that Injustice is an incomplete game? I can't imagine that I would. I can't imagine that I'd have said it about MK9, either. Super Street Fighter IV is a complete game, it certainly didn't suddenly become less complete because AE came into existence (by the same virtue, SFII is no less a complete game because SSFIIT exists). Etc, etc.

So, I don't exactly buy that argument against DLC (or disc-based upgrades). As a consumer, you're welcome to say "Hey, I don't think that's worth what's being charged", and don't pay for it. This goes for anything. I played some Blazblue throughout CT through CS2, but simply couldn't justify for myself CSE's pricetag given what additional content came on that disc compared to the content I had in CS2 (having spent 21 dollars on the 3 dlc characters released during CS's lifetime). Said adios to the came temporarily, and am looking forward to giving BBCP a spin when it's released.

If you're feeling like you're getting gouged, just say "no thanks" and either wait til its a price you feel is worth the content or tip your hat and walk away. Ain't that difficult, really.

I'm not arguing that it can't be abused. It happens. But not every company has a history of it. I was merely commenting on this particular scenario.

I understand some people run a tight budget. Bills, school, food, supporting a kid etc. Whatever the case, $15 still isn't that much. It's simply picking up an extra hour or two. Cutting costs on a couple meals. Or, just not getting it at all. Regardless, it doesn't speak for NRS's integrity, which was the initial thing that was thrown under the bus.

EXACTLY! There comes a point where they actually need to stop working on the disc content and get it put through processing/approval. This takes time, and in that time they can either move on to their next project or actually continue working on the game outside of the disc part. The last time I bitched about the season pass was because it wasn't available for ps3 people. I got blown up because "its only $5". After that, I'm holding zero reservations for those who complain about it. #takewhatyoudishout <-not really you, just throwing that out there.

I don't discriminate. I throw the entire industry under the bus. NRS is just doing what's good business sense for them and following suit with others.

Yeah I know, but I'd just much prefer the original and I don't think the fact that he's dead really matters when it comes to DLC. Would probably be more marketable too.

I do tend to laugh a bit at comments that this is a greedy "cash grab" or "ploy" like this is something new, or some shady business dealing.

Micro transactions, and DLC extras are now part of a standard gaming industry model. It's proven that this is an opportunity to upsell the customer and also prolong the life of the original game. Good business sense. Also projects have inital budgets and timelines, once these are met ( or maybe not) there might be an opporuntity to add more to the game, but this all comes at a cost.

NRS is here to make money. The more money they make, the better quality product(s), sequels AND fan requests they can potentially deliver. I am all for DLC, if I don't really care for it wont buy it.

Also everyone is complaining about paying $15.00(USA) for 4 characters. Convert this to AU dollars and it will be around $20. I am a massive fan of DCUO legends PVP, where you fight as DC heroes and villains. ONE CHARACTER costs AU$15.95. and there are some reskin alts that costs $9.95. I've bought the 6 full characters ($95.70) and the 3 x reskins ( $29.85) so thats a total of $125.55. Put into persepective, 4 x characters for AU 5.00 each, plus bonus skins is TOTAL WIN and cheap as chips.
