I suppose I can see both sides of the argument, but has anyone mentioned the numbered ping option? If it's less than 100ms then it seems pretty smooth. The game gives you the option to decline a match (ranked at least, not sure about player matches) if the ping is over 200ms or something. With that option it doesn't seem to matter if they're wired or not since you can decline if the connection speed is slow anyway.

Just so I understand correctly.... in order to be considered competitive I must have a wired connection?

If this is correct then why not enforce mbps upload times as well? I mean let's be honest if someone has 900 ping on non of this will matter.

Go all the way keep your tournaments behind your pay walls.

Wired or unwired is stupid, separating the community is stupid.

I blows my mind people are willing to play 20 mbps on 100 ping as long as they are wired but catch someone wireless with 100 mbps and 20 ping? NO WAY!

I pay out the ass for great internet and I am in fact wired. But if my friends who are fucking poor can't wired there dam console and they body me everytime we play I won't dare tell them "well guys your kinda not competitive cause well your on Wi-Fi" which is what this thread promotes... it's the height of fucking hubris unbelievable.

If you play in online tournys, or take the game seriously at all, you should be wired when playing fighting games.

If you are a casual or just a fan, then you have nothing to worry about, play the game and have fun. Watch the tournys and be a fan of your favorite player. But don't expect competitive players to want matches with you, that's all this thread is about. Its not a witch hunt. If you are competitive and lied about being wired, yes you will be exposed, because lying isn't cool.

Lotta rustled jimmies on TYM today, I'm gonna guess 80% wifi players lol.

Nope, I don't believe I said that. I believe I said "WiFi is aids for a competitive fighting game". There's plenty of competitive players that play on WiFi, myself included. Just don't be surprised if people don't want to play you if you're running on a wireless connection.

Its more important to invest in good internet then a $10 cable for your bad internet.

If you have bad internet you shouldn't be trying to play fighting games seriously online then, bottom line. Or if you have 7 cousins 2 brothers and 4 dads all watching Hulu netflix downloading torrents and surfing Porn Hub, you should think about other online options when playing fighting games.

i dont know if this is mentioned, but i wish they gave you an option to deny a match based on the connection. Im getting a bunch of wifi connection in ranked and i dont have the option to deny.

You still don't understand that your ping will HEAVILY fluctuate when using WiFi, and so your precious 20 ping will go down to maybe 200+ and go back to 20 ... randomly (hiccups / packets loss / etc) ... exactly why you have random lag in online games and you see so many "teleport-fests" in games that involve rollback (NRS games / SFV / etc).

Better have a ping a bit worse, but stable all along ...

Anyway, people have been trying to teach that for years, now it's finally over : we'll just filter out all WiFi users and be happy with that ...

Been a pain for so many years ... Google stuff and learn yourselves guys ...

So if you cannot control other people then you shouldn't play games competitively?

So you if your isp just plain sucks i.e. anything non fiber then you shouldn't play competitively?

Is there anything else I missed. 3%?

Not online if you expect to be taken seriously by your peers. Find an offline scene or if online competitive fighting games mean that much to you, figure out better online options.

I've played over 1000 online games with random players on wired connection and I rarely if ever have bad laggy games. Its usually nearly as good as offline and I'm sure a huge portion have wifi connection. I don't think what you're saying is much of problem if you have good internet or unless you want to fabricate an excuse for why you lost. It's very lame so many people are trying to alienate a large portion of the community. You honestly have no idea what they may have going on in their life and they are playing with what they have and just want to get better.

Are any of you actually hearing what your saying??? I know everyone likes to just mouth off about something that they think they know about so I'll run it down for you..

Regardless of wireless or wires connection if your not cranking out 250mbps your CONNECTION WILL NOT BE TO THIS ETHEREAL PIE IN THE SKY COMP standard period.

Isps may vary form state to.state but that shit ain't cheap your putting up a Paywall for people who could compete. Come on guys were better then this.

@Pig Of The Hut Do you know if powerline adapters are any good? getting a wire to my PS4 is pretty big safety hazard but if worst comes to worst i can probably just disconnect and reconnect the cable when i need it
