Has NRS silenced the Mortal Kombat 1 critics?

most of the people that play the game are sick of all the hate... you can only hear the exact same points so many times and go.. "I don't agree with that at all" or something like that, before you get sick of it.

Nothing anyone can say in this thread stops the fact MK1 is a awesome game, and is currently in a great state for the paople that like playing it. Noting anyone in this thread can say will stop the fact MK1 sold really well, is STILL selling well, and is in the top 15 best selling games of all time for the Ps5, nor will it stop the fact that the game has more regular players on ps5 than tekken or sf6.

They may hate the game and love dissing it, but the fact is the game is super popular and loved by a LOT of people... but we are all to busy playing it and having fun to notice threads like this.

You don't have to respond to people voicing their grievances. You not agreeing is inconsequential, irrelevant, it's nothing. I don't know why the people who like the game act so elitist. The MK fans let down by the past two games should just shut up, huh? Genuine child take.

The game has not sold as well as prior installments, the tournament numbers ARE falling, and the word of mouth surrounding the series is poor. 4 million copies in 3 months, 1 million copies in over 1.5 years including the expansion. Come the fuck on, man, they aren't going to hire you.

To put something more productive into the topic:

I do think kameo's have a weird issue for people like me who care a lot about aesthetic/vibes, and I'm sure it bothers others on here as well.

I like sub, great, but I don't like sub kham. Why? I dunno. Some level of it is I just don't get much time to play these days and don't want to build the skills to handle her (insanely small) learning curve, but also I just don't enjoy the moves she adds for some reason.

Likewise cyrax makes perfect sense for sub right now, but I HATE up copter on sub for a super petty/dumb reason. Somewhat because of the move/sound effects, but MOSTLY because one of its best uses is to convert slide, and in doing so it causes that horribly dumb fallout animation that reminds me of max combos from MK4. It bugs me even more because in this case it stops basically nothing because sub recovers by the time copter is done anyways. Hell I'd like it more even if it was just them striking the kameo call pose when it connects.

It's suuuuper petty, but I do wonder how many players across skill levels get annoyed by similar things. Other tag fighters mostly don't have these problems because 1. tag's are usually just 1 move and 2. The system doesn't need some wonky looking failsafe and instead is all about "oh fuck yeah use that in whatever combo you can jam it into".

This is probably minor stuff in the scheme of things, but it was interesting to think about who it does/doesn't bother and how that might affect perception, sales, and play of the game.

Yeah I mean the only reason I stopped playing JC & Subzero was cause I didn’t like their best kameos.
Hope they buff the kameos cause sometimes it feels like your kameo is picking your main lol

Well to be fair the topic at hand is not very extensive, as the answer is very simple and definetive.

Nrs has not silenced the critics, because in order to do that they would need to do something extraordinary and unexpected of them, despite all odds type of thing.

What nrs has done is just barley stopped the ship from sinking completly and are sort of keeping afloat.

Basically whats looking like to happen here is by the time patrick terminator releases and possibly those 2 completed kamoes the game will be in a state it should have been at launch( hopefully that means rooms and practice while matchmaking are included) and unfortunately as it reaches that state the support for the game will end lol ( i know there have been cryptic teases by nrs peeps but lets be real here, 99% the games iced, the way they handled the leak news and their subsequent behavior points to that scenario heavily)

Resident nrs boot lickers can yap all they want and convinetnly forgett how ed said this game will be supported for years upon years upon years, 5 years if not more etc etc, but here we are...

So yeah no critic silencing was done and it wont unless magically mk 1 gets like 5 years of support with multiple additional charcater and kameo packs not to mention all the fixes and balancing etc.
