No not being able to parry without stamina is the best decision these devs have made
We'll see. I hope so. It doesn't seem like a good way to go in my mind, but I'm not going to judge the change until I have played with it for a while.

Highlander moveset has been leaked. It looks to be very uniquely powerful in theory.

LMAO THEY ACTUALLY HELD A TOURNEY AT THIS STATE OF THE GAME HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA.

THESE DEVS HAVE NO IDEA HOW BAD THEIR GAME IS HAHAHAHHAHAHA.

THESE DEVS CANT FIX THEIR GAME FOR SHIT AND THESE TOURNEYS JUST EXPOSE IT.

what in the world did they expect but just a bunch of abusing of moves and glitches, theres no way to open your opponent up with these certain characters, its the only way to win.

I think their changes might be good, but I am completely befuddled as to why they just don't focus on fixing the exploits instead.

Dedicated servers will be good though and 2 new heroes tomorrow. I'm leaning towards the Highlander as my next project.

The exploits are not the problem. There will always be glitches, its just when a game is at its state where it is literally unplayable at high level play unless you exploit, of course people are going to find exploits and use them to their advantage.

Also new heroes just makes me more upset. They are add ons to a game that hasnt been completed yet. Fix the game first before you create new characters for the broken meta. Adding more characters just gives more excuses to not fix the game and to ignore the bad characters. These devs need to change their whole mentality on how they should do balance. They look at wins and losses which gives them this distorted sense of reality with their game. They think that nobushi and orochi are fine characters because oh they get an even amount of wins and losses. But if you look at high level play the only time these characters are even being played is if they are being used to exploit glitches or if literally they only parry. Certain characters are literally unplayable at this state of the game and the devs will never get it through their thick skulls because some noobs will still lose to the characters

A Nobushi just won the tournament using the unlocked zone attack.

No one made it far in the tournament without using exploits.

yea like i said they exploit glitches and tech to make the characters actually viable. Otherwise they would never win. All the devs see are glitches they dont understand why
Their thought process eludes me, but the game is good so far.

You can't cater to one group or you lose the other ones and you need every one.

first thats not true you can cater to one group more and not lose the others just look at real fighting games and any competitive shooter. second if you try to cater to all groups you lose them all. lastly the game is not good and the tourney proved it the game is complete aids at competitive level

You can focus on all levels. Thats what I think they are doing.

If its not fun for beginners, you lose them before they become intermediates. If its not fun for intermediates, they never become high intermediate. So on and so forth at all skill levels. The game has to work at all levels in order for it to grow to survive as the player base inevitably degrades.

Not all playerbases start at the very bottom. Most pros have high experience in playing a lot of games in general and will advance easily and fast through the skill gap as they are more used to gaming which makes top players that do not have to be raised up like infants. You can cater to other players but the highest level of play is the most important, that's the point all players should want to get to, especially when they're creating tournaments and using them to show off the game.

Sure you want to encourage players to stay but when they see and experience that if they stay they will just be met with more and more frustration they won't want to.

I think they are all important. Make each one better in ways that don't detract from other levels of play is the way to go, IMO.

So, I ran a few games with each of the new heroes. I have both at rep 1.

Highlander (B+)...

You need to use his defensive stance to go into his offensive stance mixups, but his offensive stance is where his bread is buttered. Even if you land a parry, follow up from his defensive stance and it will push your opponent back enough to set you up to go into his offensive stance - which is done by holding R trigger. His moves from his defensive stance all push your opponent to a range where their quick attacks and GB will whiff - so you can wait to sit on a parry - or - hold R trigger to go into his offensive stance. From there, you can quick attack with RB, which works like an armored jab, unblockable kick with X, which has to be dodged because its unblockable and quick, or let his unblockable heavy go, which hits anyone dodging and has to be parried. So, rather than a 50-50, its more like rock-paper-scizzors. You need to start in his defensive stance though and commit to an attack to space it perfectly or just be patient and walk them there, but he is very slow - hence the need for his defensive stance attacks spacing it perfectly if not parried or countered. Some people think he's only good in one on one while others think he's only good in team fights. He's solid in both, but they take different skill-sets. He doesn't close well in team fights, so you have to pick your spots - but a cornered opponent is a dead opponent if you know what your doing. I'm still pretty new to him, but I think HL is upper-mid tier.

Gladiator (A)...

Pester them with quick attacks until they try to move in. Then, he shines. He has a great poking game, but his counter game is where his damage lies. His light attack combos (or just one) into his stab or foot stab to keep them bleeding or to flank them. If they dodge those, GB or let loose his heavy as either will effectively punish dodging. GB opens them up to more punishment, but heavy is quicker and has more reach. I'm pretty new to Gladiator, but I think he's top tier. If you like Valkyrie or Centurion, you should give this character a good long look.
