A character being too good is based on the characters tools and options compared to the rest of the roster. This also means how well they do in match-ups. You can't base how good a character is on how they do in tournament. There's too many factors that go into it that makes the data unreliable. Most importantly, XL has been out for what, like 3 weeks? The DLC characters will be easier to deal with once people grind the match-up.
To be clear, I'm not saying any of the KP2 characters aren't too good. They probably are. But it's too early to really say and one tournament or even tournaments in general can't really determine who is broken or not. If Kabal or Cyrax never made top 8 in MK9, does this mean they weren't OP or top tier?
Fair point there is not enough data. But I do not think you can nerf/buff entirely on theory. I think it should be a part of it, definitely. But if you don't have any actual data to corroborate the theories, then its a waste, especially when you include the player factor.
You mean at this tourney or in the past? Truthfully I often wondered why people didn't just go with Tanya, but I find most people were playing Lao and some of the other characters that could hang with the top tiers. A lot of people are actually loyal to their character. Right now, Tanya isn't quite as good anymore and Tark is just nuts. I predict now that people have woken up, we'll see more Tarks floating around.
In the past, after the first patch.
Character loyalty is great. I just dont understand why I hear people say that you play to not, but it isn't like I see everybody playing Tanya before March. If there is money (and status) on the line, why aren't more people selling out?
Tarkatan may be nuts. I don't think its fair that that he can B3 from across the screen into rekkas. But I do not know the matchup thoroughly enough to make a determination.
