I'm not recognizing shit lol, I played Dragon after the patch and he was using Tanya and Kitana. After all the shit I talked about how he was using pre-patch Tanya I respected how he stuck with her and ate my words. I switched to Tarkatan that set and was cleaning up. I openly acknowledge the character is Tanya on crack and I've been saying thay it's a back pocket character that everyone secretly has. And now at the first DLC major he goes Kitana, gets fucked, and switches to this crap and makes top 8? I'm done with this. He can play who he wants obviously but there's nothing to recognize.

And you're right, DJT was lost. Still doesn't change the fact that Tarkatan is a mess.
So why is he the only Tarkatan in top 8?
Why would he stick with Tanya when Alien is her but better? You make zero sense.

Everyone was too focused on Acidic and the robots - no one was paying attention to Tark. The only reason Dragon knew was me. I thought he'd stay loyal to his character but he's looking for results. I understand it but I don't respect it. But hey, so is the life of a tourney player.

So no other player was aware of Tarkatan? Okay bro lol

Tellin ya now, if anyone else in that top 8 put an hour into Tark, they'd be just as good as Dragon is at the moment. It's stupidly easy character to grasp. This is going nowhere though, I'll agree to disagree

I WILL EAT THIS GAME
I still don't believe that over time Tarkatan is going to prove to be worse than old Tanya was. Not without the projectile. It's still a mess, but I'm less upset about how difficult it is to fight than I am the fact that they legit just took the same mound of dirt from one character for whom it was pretty much all she had going, and gave it to another that, to me, is overall WAY more solid.

I played JDMs Tarkatan the other day. I felt sooo helpless lol. Tanya's Rekka delays are easier to parry with Commando Kano's EX Parries, but god, Tarkatan... I felt so helpless in that matchup and even he admitted to Tarkatan being pretty dirty. The ending Rekka is like deceptively quick. Makes you think you can armor through it, parry it, or something lol.

Yeah man, the last 3 weeks I've been trying to play as many people with Tark to show how nuts it is. I break down the frames, I explain the gaps - doesn't matter.

I can understand wanting to win and I know tons of other people do it and don't have is results but at some point you have to question is it more the player or character ?

i'm pretty sure slayer tweeted tarkatan was the best in the game and it got dozens of rewteets - i think people are aware, just not as much as the casuals aka people most likely to make thousands of threads about it.

either way fishing for props this hard is weird
Lol I'm mainly just sad. I posted it where I could, told the people I play with, was met with some opposition, and then this happens. I feel like Professor Trelawny with the prophecy and people were like ah Harry Potter will be fine. Then I think Dragon is actually a character loyalist but then he whips out Tark. It's a bad Sunday - I need a drink lol

I think he places well at tourneys, how much of it is the character is what I constantly wonder. I personally think it's 70-30. This is no exception. I like Dragon as a person so this is isn't a shot at his character by any means. But I think Tanya was carrying him around and she tossed him to Alien. I'm also still extreeeeemely salty that no one listened when I said Tark is disgusting and now here we are. Maybe give it some time for people to see now, iunno, I'm rattled.

Fair enough. But why didn't everybody just play with Tanya? She still seemed present, but not like pre patch.

A character being too good is based on the characters tools and options compared to the rest of the roster. This also means how well they do in match-ups. You can't base how good a character is on how they do in tournament. There's too many factors that go into it that makes the data unreliable. Most importantly, XL has been out for what, like 3 weeks? The DLC characters will be easier to deal with once people grind the match-up.

To be clear, I'm not saying any of the KP2 characters aren't too good. They probably are. But it's too early to really say and one tournament or even tournaments in general can't really determine who is broken or not. If Kabal or Cyrax never made top 8 in MK9, does this mean they weren't OP or top tier?

You mean at this tourney or in the past? Truthfully I often wondered why people didn't just go with Tanya, but I find most people were playing Lao and some of the other characters that could hang with the top tiers. A lot of people are actually loyal to their character. Right now, Tanya isn't quite as good anymore and Tark is just nuts. I predict now that people have woken up, we'll see more Tarks floating around.

Which really sucks cause i picked him up cause Baraka is my favourite MK character. But ive since dropped him cause I know nerfs are incoming. He's far too strong. I think if you take away the option to make him safe off his rekka it would be fair. I mean he can go overhead, low, or hit confirm into launcher. They should be unsafe if you guess right.

But I agree. Some people need a top tier to win as we saw. Sell your soul to the devil or whatever lol a win is a win. For me though, Quan for life <3

Well for some if you're paying a few hundred just to be there. If it's not banned use it. Might not be the prettiest win or the most celebrated. But for some walking away with a couple thousand using a top tier or broken tech is better than going spectator mode as a character loyalist with no fight money

Fair point there is not enough data. But I do not think you can nerf/buff entirely on theory. I think it should be a part of it, definitely. But if you don't have any actual data to corroborate the theories, then its a waste, especially when you include the player factor.

In the past, after the first patch.

Character loyalty is great. I just dont understand why I hear people say that you play to not, but it isn't like I see everybody playing Tanya before March. If there is money (and status) on the line, why aren't more people selling out?

Tarkatan may be nuts. I don't think its fair that that he can B3 from across the screen into rekkas. But I do not know the matchup thoroughly enough to make a determination.

Sonic is going to start his t16 SFV game now if you want to check.

Sonic sent to losers, Ken more or less bodied his F.A.N.G (Sonic did work out a lot and kept multiple rounds interesting), I don't know much about SFV matchups but the damage difference pero opening was crazy between both characters. Apparently SF is first to 2 instead of 3 so no much time to adapt.
