Dragon Ball FighterZ Discussion Thread (Game)

EntropicByDesign

It's all so very confusing.
I've been kinda juggling an idea around and I'd like to get some feedback. The recent discussions here about combo videos and notations and such relate to it, and it seems as good a time as any to bring it up and get some opinions.

Disclaimer first and foremost.. this is purely an idea at the moment, whether the idea moves into the execution and creation stage I cannot say.

So. Ive been watching lots of combo and tech vids recently. Lots. Seeing what people are finding with Zamasu and Vegito, and trying to understand the structure and routes of various GG characters as well. Lots of cool shit across the board, and much can be considered practical.

Here's the thing though. When I watch these videos, and then go on to watch tournaments, or high level sets, what I see being used is often very different than what I see in the videos, and that got me thinking.

What about a combo video series that extracts character combos from high level sets and tournament play exclusively, then compiles them, performs them in training mode, lists notations and finally, when required, gives some insight into performing the combo - showing the nuances that make it work like delays or tricky timings or whatever. Basically trying to paint as clear a picture of how to perform the combo as possible.

The videos would be character specific, and would list the ACTUAL combos used in real matches, by high level players, not just what seems optimal or cool, but what the best players on the world are actually competing with.

Credit would be given to the players the combos were drawn from, and there would be a notes section for each combo detailing how the player tended to follow up, how the player landed the combo on the first place and anything else that seemed relevant - such as if the combo required an assist for extension or the like, what other assists could be used to get the same results.

This wouldn't be for every single little multi-hit sequence, but for the main combos and sequences that I see used by different players on a regular enough basis to genuinely classify as a BnB.

There's a lot of research and work required to make videos like this, but I feel like there would be value in it. Optimal and swag is great, but ultimately the best players in world are the ones winning and when trying to lab and learn your character, I find more value in battle-tested and win-forged tech and combos than all the optimal, presented in a vacuum videos in the world.

Just curious as to others opinions.

Wouldn't labbing the combo be just the same? Also wouldn't it be kind of difficult too considering the opponts wiffs, your reads at the time that started said combo and the fact if they did/didn't tech out. Other shit as well.

It's a nice idea but I have to ask myself or you rather. How much more handholding do people need to execute things or combo's in a game?

No offense of course but games are built in mind to have a set degree of difficulty. In fighters. Labbing properly would be such a thing in fighters. As years a go resources like the intaweb and YouTube weren't available or was available but not to the wider audience like today.

TYM for example is what your looking for as you can post said combo video and then discuss it.

Besides. Look at the game tutorial itself. It's bare as fuck but compared to other games likr sfex, ttt2, I2 and others ect, ect, ect.

Both. The game now has been divided to ppl who are really horrible VS ppl who are really good. Online is still ass cheeks, so that still kept ppl away from playing as of now. And for me, i hate losing to dumb shit like bad lag so i dont play everyday like i used to.

Hey guys a question. After a couple of months away from the game I've been considering to retry it. My original team is Piccolo/Beerus/Cell in that exact order. But I was thinking to put Broly instead of Beerus and then switch between Piccolo and Broly in the team positions so it will be Bro/y/Piccolo/Cell. Do you guys think it should work? Or should I keep Beerus on my team? And if not, what other character go well with both Piccolo and Cell (I know that Vegeta is a solid option but I wanna make sure if there are other options)?

Also, did the matchmaking in the game got better? Is it now faster to get matches online or is still as slow as fuck (Back in the first couple of months of the game, I couldn't get any matches almost unless if it was in Arena matches and even then the matchmaking was ridiculously slow)?

Cell pairs rly well with vegeta, g.black,k.buu and any other with good assist.

Cell can use Broly's assist for his long block strings. Not sure how well Cell benefits broly, his beam is particular.
Piccolo can assist Broly, in fact I saw just yesterday some tech that was found for them.

So yes, I think this team of Broly/Piccolo/Cell can work. As Piccolo can help Broly, Cell can help Piccolo and Broly can help Cell, while Cell is still strong enough to be on his own, which is why he should be the anchor.

Thanks anyway.

It sounds solid as long as they’ve got synergy, Cell could probably use a stronger assist but he’s a savage either way.

It’d be worth seeing if Broly can lvl1 dhc into Cell for continuation (like Piccolo does in the vid you posted). Quite a few chars can. My Broly team used Vegeta and Trunks who can both do it.

All i know is, playing this game more online, the more Bardocks I see.....yuck. But at least I am getting more comfortable with Vegito and Zamasu cuz baaaby! All them combos I've learned in training mode aint shit until you REALLY train your mind to apply them in real battle.

Also, square color don't mean shit anymore

Did it ever?
To extent, but now imma just train however and with whoever. Im still sticking to casual matches because my team is not really official.

Vegeto, Black, Zamasu.

Just trying to get block strings down to muscle memory, and that flight cancel pressure with Zamasu. Its easier said than done, so im really taking my time with these characters cuz this DLC is swagged out as fuck! Loving em better than the 1st DLC :)

Yeah it generally takes cherry pickers a longer time to rise ranks so I generally find ranks more accurate in the start and absurd levels of meaningless after some time
