Right to the point, well put, I like that, no wiggle room to misinterpret, thank youImagine you're deaf and blind now learn your combo. Couldn't comment on the monitors sorry

The only reason you'll drop combos on a laggy monitor is because you're looking at the screen and timing your inputs to what you see (using visual cues). The lag of the monitor doesn't affect the responsiveness of your console. If you learn to time your combos using innate timing (or something like the clicking noise of your controller buttons) monitor lag shouldn't cause you to drop combos (since you could just close your eyes and execute the combo anyways).May I ask, could you give a detailed explaination of what you mean by not using visual cues, so I know that I apply this properly, can I also get your opinion of which monitor is better, the asks mx279h or the benq rl2755hm for psq4 console and mainly for mkxl, both are rated at the top for best monitors, for mkx TN or IPS, both have about the same lag input, the tn is a little faster for image responsiveness, I want the monitor that will give the best color and image clarity, with out ghosting effect, thanks
Thanks for clarifying, I do exactly what you described about innate timing, like the button clicking, thanks for being very precise. The only reason you'll drop combos on a laggy monitor is because you're looking at the screen and timing your inputs to what you see (using visual cues). As for which monitor is best, I'm sorry but I'm not the best person to talk about that. I'm not all the versed on the technical side of stuff, just how it applies to playing video games.
Wounderful information and accurate explaination of lag inputYeah a lot of misinformation at the start of this thread. Response time and refresh rate don't really matter as much as actual input lag.
Look at it this way.
1 frame is 16.67ms. Some monitors can achieve input lag as low as 5-10ms, while even the HDTVs with less input lag than most other HDTVs usually sit around 20-30ms of input lag. That's over a full frame more input lag than a monitor and that's if it's one of the best TVs you can get for input lag.
So if you try a combo with a 3 frame link on a tv with almost 2 full frames of input lag, if not more, it's going to feel almost impossible.
Try that same combo on a monitor with less than a frame of input lag and it's going to feel like you have all the time in the world compared to a TV.
Confirmed beyond he-you know what, just refer to my avatar. I have nothing further to say.No it doesn't and if you disconnect your ps4 from your tv so you can play on a monitor, that doesn't make you a pro gamer,it just means you're a dork.
i've never talked to you and i could care less if you have anything further to say lol. if you want to huff and puff and act tough to a 9 day old post or whatever that's on you.Confirmed beyond he-you know what, just refer to my avatar. I have nothing further to say.

Wait so how much do you care though? If you could care less it means you care some. Do you care a whole lot? Or just a little? Your statement is ambiguous.i've never talked to you and i could care less if you have anything further to say lol. if you want to huff and puff and act tough to a 9 day old post or whatever that's on you.
The dude is a confirmed wackjobConfirmed beyond help.
no it is really not ambiguous you are just trying to look cool and own me over the internet. lol.Wait so how much do you care though? If you could care less it means you care some. Do you care a whole lot? Or just a little? Your statement is ambiguous.
He doesn't need to. You owned yourself with your bullshit statement in this thread, lol.no it is really not ambiguous you are just trying to look cool and own me over the internet. lol.

As a TO, I've seen this happen to 9/10 people. If anyone wants to be competitive, just get a 1ms monitor. The people that don't experience this are already at a level where they can adapt the fly.Put it this way, after playing on a big tv only and then going down to my local for the first time, I couldn't hit my combos. Was dropping all my bnbs.
It definitely matters. So I ended up buying a monitor.
You are pressing b12 too early.@everyone out there, started using a monitor from a tv, I play grandmaster, on a tv when I performed b12, to punish a blocked unsafe move, I would press the back, then swipe my other thumb from 1 to 2(instead of depressing each button spereately) and the kombo comes out consistently, and with hit confirm, I will cancel it into IB's, but when using the monitor(much lower lag input), when I do the same technique for b12 , only b2 come out, and that is constantly, I look at the monitor to quickly check my inputs, and they are clean and it displays the back, the 1 and the 2 buttons, can anyone explain this, tell me what iam doing improper and how to fix, please note when I depress the 1 and the 2 buttons seperately the b12 comes out. I am just so use to doing the sweeping action, and very comfortable with it, if I have to change , I will, thanks
Does this really work?I have a Asus Ve278q and and plasma TV. The only way I'll even play on the plasma is by dropping the ps4 to 480p. It looks like shit but I can still be just as efficient as when I play on my monitor. I rather play better and have it look like shit than drop combos than it look the way it's supposed to.
You are going to early just slow down a bit@everyone out there, started using a monitor from a tv, I play grandmaster, on a tv when I performed b12, to punish a blocked unsafe move, I would press the back, then swipe my other thumb from 1 to 2(instead of depressing each button spereately) and the kombo comes out consistently, and with hit confirm, I will cancel it into IB's, but when using the monitor(much lower lag input), when I do the same technique for b12 , only b2 come out, and that is constantly, I look at the monitor to quickly check my inputs, and they are clean and it displays the back, the 1 and the 2 buttons, can anyone explain this, tell me what iam doing improper and how to fix, please note when I depress the 1 and the 2 buttons seperately the b12 comes out. Yes to the subjectA simple question for serious gamers out there.
Are monitors required for high level gaming?
I have always played on a TV set. I currently have a Panasonic TC-P42S1 and I recently saw a post about monitors.
Do all the high level players play on monitors and do they make that big of a difference?
I don't know what the input lag is on this particular model but it does have a game mode.
Would those extra lost frames be significant enough against those high level opponents?
I work often and when I am home and management to find time to play, I want to be as competitive as possible. So if monitors are more necessary to achieve this, it might be worth the investment.
Thanks for,the reply, I will do what you adviseYou are going to early just slow down a bit
Thanks, it's kind of what I thought, I will practice your adviseYou are pressing b12 too early.
You are used to having to preemptively press buttons in order for the required move to come out in time. Now that you have a monitor, your inputs are being displayed on the screen as you press them. You are getting b2 because you're pressing the b12 too early. The b1 is not registered as you're in block stun, and you get b2 because the game buffers the "back" input from the b1 and the 2 input from the string.
Delay the timing of your input.
This is why monitors are important if you want to play competitively. The timings are vastly different.
