Bottom 5 Character Project

IKizzLE

BloodHound
1) Jade - too slow, punishable, no block strings, no mix ups, meter dependent

2) Sheeva - too punishable, too slow, special moves and normals create for plenty of bad match ups

3) Stryker - zoning capabilities are limited versions of other tournament viable zoning characters (Kenshi, Kabal, Kitana, Noob)

4) Cyber Sub Zero - negative edge issues, minimal damage, special moves create for plenty of bad match ups

5) Sektor (I'm not trolling) - all strings are unsafe and punishable by full combo or uppercut, meter dependent, no block strings, limited version of other tournament viable zoning characters (Kenshi, Kabal, Kitana, Noob)

The only three characters that I feel are non tournament viable are Jade, Sheeva, and Stryker.
Lol at the Sektor Bottom 5. He's my main as well and I can go even with top players, but he's not bottom 5. I think people are overrating him by putting him in the top 10 as well. 15, right in the middle, is a good spot. But I will say, all those things you said are very true. 12b1 is fast but the range is terrible and you can be uppercutted out of it every time. Burns meter religiously. Wakeup game is bad and inconsistent. And before someone tells me to do ex flamethrower...not only can you easily cross him up, its full combo punishable on block. b34 is punishable and full combo punishable by some characters(so glad no one punishes it yet) by just letting go of block after the b3 comes out. The only thing keeping him away from say 15th-20th place is that a lot of the top 10 characters are excellent zoners, but they cant zone sektor.

Think about it though - when people finally learn how to fight against Sektor (with any character mind you), our days are over. The people I have shared every last bit of knowledge concerning Sektor to destroy him! Sure I hold up very well against against the top tier players, but even they don't take advantage of everything they could be. Hell, I've never seen anyone actually punish EXtu (but imagine when people start to). B34, 12b1 and 122 are all full combo punishable if done correctly. b2 is unsafe on block, f2b1 is as well. B1 is going to be jumped over/crossed up like mad. His anti-air d1 and standing 1 are nothing to write home about. His missile recover is one of the slowest projectile recoveries in the game. His d4 has bad range and aren't fast enough to compensate. The list goes on.

You hit on one thing that saves him and keeps in tournament viable: he out zones all of the top tier characters. He even out zones anti zoners like Kenshi and Smoke. Coupled with TU, he's to be feared from 3/4 to full distance.

When people know how to exploit him (since tier lists are based on the highest level of play), he becomes one of the most limited characters in the game. And his fundamentals are no good, which in my opinion, warrants him around bottom five. People keep saying he is the most underrated character in the game... I say he's one of the most overrated.

The only thing I disagree with here is the Kenshi and Smoke matchups. Ive tried to punish smoke bomb with iTU two days ago and I would get caught by it every single time. Only when I made a good read and I began the iTU before the smoke bomb was it good...but making good reads doesn't dictate the tier list. Coupled with the shake for missiles and smoke runs the whole field. Invisibility, teleport to get away, and long reaching normals that combo and his d1 lowers his hitbox low enough to the point where 12b1 is a chore to land.

Kenshi I believe is his worst matchup. If a top Sektor fights a top Kenshi, what is the sektor supposed to do? Trading is out of the question, even when missiles knock down, its still bad for Sektor. You can't iTU moves that instantly hit you, and whats stopping kenshi from just walking back and doing rising karma as an anti air? Sektor cant punish it from max range even if the kenshi players misses it as an anti air. And when you do get it in, EX double sword hit(Dont know the name of the move) gives you enough frames to get a free shoulder from Kenshi and your right outside of flamethrower range.

Sektor is really good against zoners with iFB's though such as liu kang, kabal and kitana.

I thought everybody would be like "Huh? Sub-Zero is bottom 5? Go hit the lab you lazy, stupid SZ players!"
It seems you guys have finally seen the light!

MK11 Kabal = MK9 Kitana
I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but:

1. Jade
2. Baraka
3. Kano
4. Sub-Zero
5. Noob

I honestly don't see why people think Kano is so good.

Noob is NOT as good as people think he is. Once people learn how to fight him, he will be blown up by more than just Raiden and Kabal.

All of these characters can compete, and I believe that all but Noob or Jade could win a major.

For those Sindel players getting salty because atm we feel she's bottom 5, please link a youtube vid or something to show us otherwise. I WANT to be wrong. Every Sindel I have ever come across online did nothing but zone.
Locally, we have no Sindel players so naturally I feel she's low tier. Please prove me/us wrong.

"Game... Blouses."
-1- Jade
-2- Baraka
-3- Stryker
-4- Sheeva
-5- Ermac

HMs: Noob Saibot, Rain, Sektor, Sindel and Kano

Obviously, this is in my opinion and as you can tell, I did mention my two mains as weaker options.

I honestly don't see why people think Kano is so good.
Good specials, decent zoning, a lot strings being 0 on block, safe command grab mixups, EX knives being plus frames on block. He's not S tier, but he doesn't lose real bad to anyone except Sub-zero and kabal.

He has everything, but it's just not as good as what others can do.

I wish we could show the talley based on who people claim they main.... it would make perfect sense really. The "controversial" ones are normally ones that someone's main just blows the fuck up. True story.

ive played plenty of noobs online shadow shadow shadow then once you dash block in enough upkick shadow then when they see that you don't jump in shadow or slide shadow this is just too easy to beat I guess i haven't played a really good noob that knows how to use all his tools that's why i have him in my bottom

Worst Sub-Zero Ever
Not sure about what you mean by that. But I guess I must agree with you either way.
Too much time spent talking about how bad the character is, and not enough time spent working things out with Sub-Zero. Sub-Zero is a character you really have to be prepared to put matchup time into, which is why I am not joking when I say I am a bad Sub-Zero, because I don't practise enough and take the game seriously enough to take Sub-Zero where he needs to be taken anymore, but I still come across a lot of misinformed comments in the Sub-Zero character forum and there's lots of stuff about Sub-Zero winning or drawing a matchup based on clone or losing matchups because he just gets "outzoned". Stuff like that shows me that Sub-Zero players haven't got anything like the full potential out of this character yet.

I don't really think there is a bottom 5 in this game because so many of the characters compete just fine in the right hands.

My personal tier list goes like this

(In order)
- Top -
Kabal, Jax, Raiden, Kitana, Sonya,
Cyrax,

- Top-Mid -

Kung Lao, Scorpion, Smoke, Freddy, Liu Kang,
Quan Chi, Mileena, Shang Tsung,

- Mid -
Reptile, Cage, Sektor, Noob, Rain,
Kenshi, Sindel, Ermac

- Bottom-Mid -
Baraka, Sub-Zero, CSZ, Nightwolf, Stryker,
Kratos

- Bottom -
Skarlet, Kano, Sheeva, Jade

Too much time spent talking about how bad the character is, and not enough time spent working things out with Sub-Zero. I think Tier Lists are about how the characters would do when played in the highest possible level. I think Tom Brady did took the character to the highest possible level, but patch after patch, new tech after new tech for other characters, he got less and less success with the character. Let's face it, there IS NOT new worthy tech for Sub-Zero out there to be found. There just isn't. If anything, a combo with 3-7% more damage than the current standard ones, with the use of meter. I dare ANYONE to prove me wrong. Really, do it. (Please).
The only thing that could possibly change his game right now would be a hard to escape reset or something like that, but I bet that won't happen.

You might get around a few bad matchups while playing decent-good players with SZ, but when it comes down to top player vs top player, most of the time the other character can adapt quite quickly/easily to your tactics.

Most of the people who say sub is top-mid or even top-tier (lol) don't play the character (and never will, most of the time saying they have done good with [supposedly] worse characters) or don't/can't take the game seriously enough to see how weak and avoidable his (few) options are. To me he feels a little like cage, but he doesn't really destroys anyone anywhere anymore while at least cage has the hope of getting in once and win the round.

Damn, how on earth can someone say both Liu Kang, Kenshi, Ermac, Sektor AND SCORPION are bottom tier? You really think the likes of Sheeva and Jade are better characters?
