In general what game or strategy do you guys play with ancestral? I have always been looking to get my stun arrow out but do you guys use the other arrows in the neutral too? Also my zoning is not that effective but perhaps I should use the other arrows for that.

Hell yea I use all of them in the nuetral. With the latest patch ancestral only got better. If you use fire arrows fullscreen and make them respect the low one they wI'll try and jump in which u can do straight arrow. If they try and run in and get clipped by the fire low, they are stamina-less and it's back to square 1. Ancestral is a very good character now imo since he doesn't really rely on 50/50's. He gets those arrows out for free fullscreen unless you get teleported on reaction. With the game being more nuetral heavy he excels especially without armored launchers being too relevant to get through his gaps. He has great meterless damage , air control, spacing,normals ,and zoning. I like him a lot

Bump. What do you guys think about ancestral now?

I think it still may be his worst variation but it's too early to tell with the new patch. But with the changes he got, I believe he is much more viable. Straight fire arrow being completely safe is huge and the block stun and pushback it gives, he can zone much better with IA arrow, low arrow and ia straight arrow. And an extra 60 frames of the arrow timers is extremely helpful too
I personally think he's good now. I'm not saying top tier or A+. But he's def way better . With the way the game plays now I think he's better than shaolin

You know I thought I had great execution but what the heck? The run cancel 34 after the overhead fire arrow has to be near impossible
You have to hit the overhead arrow very late into the jip, and run immediately into 34 it is very tight though.

Your ancestral is great. I notice you do the jipxxoverhead arrow (fire) and then into instant dive kick - any advice on that link?
Ok so this one took me awhile to get the hand of but basically when you do Jip2 (make sure ti's jump in punch 2, it is much more consistent and lets you be further from your opponent which helps with the next part) make sure you cancel immediately as usually, then, don't do a neutral jump, jump forward and do an instant dive kick, you won't be close enough with the neutral jump and it will whiff. Other than that just keep practicing and good luck!

They are plus 3 in the low shot and have 10 additional block stunt frames, so the opponent feels very slow after they block it and this allows kung jin to go for some mixups and stuff. This makes using fire arrows in the neutral very good. So switching between stunt and fire is a viable strategy. I found vampiric arrows only good when your opponent has only one bar or meter. If they have more they will usually break before allowing you to steal it from them. I will keep exploring the character but so far he is feeling very good.

How did you test the low fire arrow?

fire arrow equiped, jip 2, dd2 in the air is plus 3 depending on height. You can then follow with a d1 to check if they respect it once conditioned you can follow with other mixups. I tested it today against sub zero in with regular slide reversal, but I'm positive it will also beat pokes. You can also use the same strategy with stunt arrow but it requires meter yet its plus 10 which also jails into 1.

I think the vamp arrows have their place. If you do j2-b214-ex db2 after a stun you are +22. If you think they'll break, hit them with a vamp arrow instead of continuing combo and use hit advantage for a free follow up. I'm not opposed to fire arrows and they definitely have their advantages but so do vamp imo. Just depends on what you're trying to do.

nrs has treated this variation so badly. the most complained thing is the time limit on stun arrow all we say is take away the limit and he'll be decent like come on

Not anymore bro. This variation is solid. They don't need to remove the timer anymore.
