Question The Buffs Bane Needs?

Ok, let me go back in the thread and give me some time to skim it all. Keep in mind it's just my opinion, so I'm just going to put good ideas and bad ideas and not put names cause I really don't want to offend anybody

Well the idea's on the front page a good. I know it'd be some time to re-organize, but I don't think you should remove them.

Perhaps catagorize. For example Prioritiy's: Venom changes Secondary: charge cancel, few frame changes. Then a third for "other ideas." Doesn't have to be exactly like that but you get where i'm going.

I've seen changes in other games and of all the idea's only a few end up being used or implemented. But that doesn't mean something isn't a decent idea that could be used down the road next gen.

- Remove venom debuff (PRIORITY FUCKING ONE)
- Buff normal damage a bit
- Raging Charge cancel
- More combo damage or better positioning for MB Body Press
- Standing 1 needs to come out faster or have better hitbox
- Invincibility frames on Ring Toss
- More damage on Double Punch
- Better hitbox, speed and...everything on Break the Bat (seriously, it's probably the worst super in the game)

These are the most sensible and frequently requested changes I've seen. And also the ones I believe are priority and need to happen for Bane to be viable.


And if I had to choose a reasonable "cherry on top" it would be this:

- Make Body Press ignore invincibility frames on wakeup attacks (doesn't work on supers)

Ok so after reading ALL the pages, I am putting in a general list of what I feel is what the Bane community would like to see. Overall I think these are fair and naturally we are lucky to get any buffs at all, so hopefully we get one or some or all of these:

AA

-AA Grab has invincibility frames in the 9-frame start-up.
-AA Grab does more damage
-You can choose which direction to throw the opponent

Normals

-112 becomes -6
-Faster D1
-Replace F2 with the F2D
-Standing 1 changes to 2 frames faster

Specials

-Cancel charge or cancel charge into specials only
-Double punch more damage on hit and block (only a little)
-Leave opponent closer, if possible

Venom

-Level 3 all hits break armor (like Superman's trait)
-No increased damage taken when Venom runs out
-Increased speed the more levels of Venom you use
-The more venom you use, the higher level of armor

Super

-Fix inconsistent hitbox issues




I know I did not get every single thing but if I missed something MAJOR please let me know. Also RYX maybe put this on the first page so when NRS comes to read it (if they haven't already) it's easier to navigate?

I saw where Bane is getting a new skin with the compatibility pack next Tuesday. I would love to see the Venom debuffs be lost along with it. Getting rid of those is a great start, and at this point I feel like that's what we should kick around ideas about.

I dissagree with completely getting rid of Venom Debuffs, Venom managment is pretty interesting to me and working around the drawbacks is cool, it would be interestign if their were ways to either level down your venom dosage so the penalty isn't severe or ways to get around them.

Why does he have to suffer debuffs but nobody else on the cast does?

And if you really main Bane, the drawbacks are not "cool" by any means:(

I main Bane, the debuffs as they are now are pretty dumb and I think they should be lessened. I also think more really powerful traits should have came with drawbacks.

I think it's more work to mess w/the entire cast's traits than it is to just have Bane's be on their level. It doesn't even need to be broken, just not a horrible penalty where you get prison raped just for trying to play offense. Or, give me great defensive tools for the inevitable ass rape I'm about to receive from anybody with a cape or machine gun

His trait definitely needs a buff. I would say to take out the nerfs while the venom recharges and slightly decrease the venom buffs. This way, you can get a pretty good buff, but you still need to use it wisely. Right now it's like if you don't use it perfectly, your screwed.

EDIT: Just played a match against Batman. I can't believe you can parry the charge, that's bullshit (Just picked up Bane so didn't know this).

We need to keep venom penalties on cooldown. We don't need another superman with no projectiles. Aside from the defense penalty being removed, I don't mind the other penalties staying. If Bane still needs help, the solution is to buff him outside of Venom (more damaging AA/Super, better Charge, better MB moves) or buff the Venom bonuses (Level 2 gains projectile invincibility, Level 3 grants F3 and B3 armor). Removing the penalties makes the character just flat out boring.
 
I don't mind the damage penalty at all, actually. I just think the insane defense/health penalty needs to go completely.

I think getting rid of that would be a great start before messing with his normals or cancels.

would be cool to get a launch from a meterburn special. maybe add a MB option to his AA grab that launches seeing as i hardly ever use that move

Fuck I gotta go to work so I'll keep this short. Bane needs changes on two things:

1: Charge desperately needs a cancel, and it also needs projectile invincibility at Venom2. This would be huge in terms of his ability to get in on zoners. if fucking Kabal can cancel his dash-attack for free advancement on an opponent, and Grundy can cancel his Walking Corpse with three fucking hits of armor on it, Bane should be able to do the same with his charge that's far slower.

2: Double-punch needs an MB groudbounce. Bane is supposed to be the big rushdown guy; if you can get in and make something happen, you should be rewarded with big damage, 'cause you're a big, realtively slow guy in a game full of strong zoners. as it is now, double-punch does absolutely pitiful damage and can't be followed up, and Bane's overall damage output is pretty poor for a big rushdown type. his oki game is strong and his armored specials are great, but you can't win against a competent opponent with wakeup C. Grabs and DPs. throw in a groundbounce so we can get in on that sweet 2-bar 40%+ combo action that so many other characters have.

B23 + 123 + MB DP + 123 + MB C. Grab. Come on, tell me you don't want to do that combo, or that opening up Bane's damage potential would make him a broken character.

if those two changes were made to Bane's game it would do a whole hell of a lot to make him viable for zoner MUs, and having a MB groundbounce would open up his damage potential.

Bane fan and lurker here; just wanted to share my thoughts...

I understand why people think Venom penalty should be removed, but it makes playing Bane fun. The problem is the Venom buff is not worth it. If Venom boost made all special moves act like MB specials without actual MB usage, then the risk/reward factor gets more interesting. Level 1 should increase speed + armor, Level 2 increase speed a bit more + power +armor, Level 3 increase power a bit more+ armor + health gain. Also increase the # of hits of his super depending on the Venom level. Leave the penalties for Venom EXCEPT on MB special moves; that way people can decide if they want to sacrifice MB for extra damage or hold it to be able to defend themselves once the penalty hits.

But, to fix Venom, first they have to fix his special moves and his MB properties. The charge needs options (cancel/low sweep/etc..)

i'm generally okay with the Venom debuffs as long as i block Superman's trait out of my mind. i think most of us agree on the excessive nature of the damage-taken debuff, but other than that, Venom1 debuff isn't that bad. maybe shave off a second or two of debuff for Venom2.

Slightly longer/faster forward dash.

Charge needs reworked. Either a cancel, or how about charge having 1 hit of armor without venom, 2 hits with venom lv1, projectile invincibility on lv 2?

Make current fd2 his f2. Make current f2 animation his b3. Currently his b3 is pretty ass, and fd2 is an awkward command, this would fix both problems.

He really needs a way to extend combos with MB, he's one of the few characters that can't. I think the idea of Double punch MB giving a bounce is a good idea. Either that or db2 MB into his current j3 animation, giving ground bounce.

BRAHMA! From Rock to Bane... we are destined for the low tier Manly Heroes of every game!

And I keep pushing for more damage on air throw and plus on block venom charge for the same reason you just said. It's NOT okay for him to be subpar without venom, because he is garbage during the cooldown. So without Venom, he needs to at least be decent.

Well...it's apart of the character and makes sense. you would kill the uniqueness of it. It would be a simple damage buff...and being to get 3 and do ZOMG damage with no drawback is kind of unfair.

Also after the venom is gone what is keeping you from hitting them? Screw how much your doing. A trick I learned with Raven is that after demon mode is gone and needs to recharge you can do a long combo that uses lots of meter while it recharges.
