General/Other KILLER FROST - General Discussion Thread

What setups for trait combos are there besides ex command grab, finish charging, mixup?
So far what I have thought of is if you have 99.9% trait charge you can do 3~4(trait activates) then 50/50. How do you guys setup your opponents to block a 3~4? Do you get them used to d1 d1 to make them not press buttons then start throwing in d1 3~4?

Also how do you guys handle the Nightwing matchup? I have the most trouble with his zoning. In my experience if I try to airdash over his wingdings to hit him with a jump attack he can MB it on reaction and it catches you. If I try to ground dash in reaction to his jump he can not wingding and do jump 3 to catch you. Are my timings wrong or am I dealing with wingdings the wrong way?

Hey all. I don't main KF at all, but my cousin would like to get advice on some specific match ups.

Vs. Superman- Okay, so he said he is struggling vs lazorbeemz. I suggested using slide to punish air laser and ground laser, but idk if it will. He said he tried to punish air laser with iceberg but couldn't. Suggestions?

Vs. Green Lantern- All I know is that you have to be careful with your jumps and air dashes, but other than that I got nothing. Apparently his rockets zone her too good.

Vs. Black Adam- What kind of punishment options does frost have vs divekick, and the move where he summons clouds around people to shock them?

And just other general tips would be appreciated too. Thanks!

You can punish air laser with Slide if he does it high enough. Slide is an easier punish/check than Iceberg because Iceberg only hits an opponent directly on the ground. With slide you can hit Superman as he's falling.

Tell him she can parry his hits after b+1. Both b+1,3 and b+1,2 she can parry inbetween.

Punishing Dive Kick with her is extremely tough. Only some can be punished and you'd probably just have to use d+1~slide if he's close enough. It's really more about figuring out how he likes to react after his dive kick is blocked and then punishing that. So for example if he's doing the BA classic of dive kick into backdash you can punish that with slide. Also she can punish a blocked magic magic cloud with an Iceberg. Beware he can punish Iceberg with his Magic Cloud. So it's mutual assured destruction, neither of you can use these moves without risk.

If they get hit by a d1 it is really their problem since they have 10 frames to enter it before her's will come out.
10 frames is really unreactable... I mean that's 1/6 of a second we're talking about, that's why i keep landing D1 after blocked slide.

I feel like the frame mechanics in the game are ridiculous sometimes...

I dont get this - someone else told me to do the same and it just doesnt work out or feel fluid / consistent / smooth. When I'm on left side of screen I can do my BnBs fine. When I am on the right side I can almost never do it. It doesnt have to do with more experience on left side cause in training mode i make sure to split my time evenly.

When I do DB, F from right side, my thumb mangles the fuck out of the d-pad, does crazy inputs, and definitely hits U a lot when im moving toward F. I really cannot figure out what to do. I have spent 3 hours since coming home from work and I can do my BnB from left side with like a 90% success rate - my BnB from right side is like 10% success rate or worse. Clearly there is something going on with the way I am using my d-pad and i cant really figure it out.

Fuck
Try one of my methods..

22 x DB2 then hit F2.

or

22 xx DB2, hold the 2 then hit F.

I disagree, people are punishing things that are -10 and lower with a 6-7 frame normal in MK9 all the time.

For the slide - U3 - 22, DBF2 - JI2, 113 BF1 combo, the first 1 in my 113 string never hits. It makes my BnBs short by 1%

not a big deal but anyone know how i can fix this? rarely it hits but idk why

maybe im hitting 2 while midair too quick? i need to fall further before hitting 2?

It whiffs some times, yeah it's weird.

Also For the 50/50 set up. Try using j2 f112~4. It gives you more advantage abs leaves them closer so, A) they can't jump/armor out if f3, B) f3 won't whiff on certain character due to daggers pushing them away. So it's a true 50/50

I'm new to learning Killer Frost as well. I am really liking her as a character, but anybody have any advice on the Raven matchup. I keep getting blown up by her.

Mini-novel incoming.

Don't recklessly throw out Iceberg or she will punish with Soul Crush. But it's a double edged sword, if you block a Soul Crush you can punish with Iceberg. If you MB the Iceberg you can either go into another Iceberg or dash up Slide into full combo if your close enough.

Frost can interrupt her 223 string in between the second 2 and 3 with parry which can lead to a full combo if you decide to MB it (which is what you should also do if you're gonna parry anyways). So it would go 22(parry here)3. Pick Raven in practice mode and do it on Frost with Parry reversal on to see the timing.

Raven's fireball hits high so you can just duck and dash forward after it passes. If you decide to block it, remember it is NOT punishable with Iceberg on block, the best thing to do would be to dash forward and figure out your next course of action from there.

Try not to recklessly Slide at Raven because Soul Crush/Singularity will pick Frost up right out of it. Granted she probably won't be able to do this on reaction at close ranges, but if she reads it or if you do it far enough away, you're screwed.

Frost's air dash is pretty risky in this match because the fear of Soul Crush and her lift (I forget the name of it). So just inch in, be patient, and vortex the birdy every chance you get. Once your in be weary of the usual: wake-ups, MB b3/f3, etc. Raven has a competent up close game, but so does Frost. The main to remember is that Frost can punish Soul Crush anywhere on the screen. Abuse this.

In practice I'm having absolutely no luck parrying in between b+1,2 just 1,3. Is it timing based or is there some kind of trick? I also notice if the opponent likes to b+1,2 overhead a lot, you can interrupt with 1,1,1 slide into full combo.

It should be easier to parry b+1,2 than b+1,3. b+1,3 is a tight window. No trick just timing. Gotta be quick.

Just to make sure, this is GL we're talking about right? If so, yeah, the over head b+1,2 can be parried, interrupted, all sorts of things, but I've only managed to parry b+1,3 once. I suppose it's not viable in my case online. I use a controller (yeah yeah, I know) but have yet to find something I wasn't able to do..well....except parry that move consistently.

Yes, Green Lantern.

I am not that good at parrying b+1,3 either. It's very tight timing. It will be easier in time.

Hello!
I like Frost very much. Her 50/50 games is awesome, but in ours Russian community we found this. Your opponent can avoid F112-4 mix-up by armor b3 and f3
Is this a glitch?
How could this be?
Frame advantage around 20(? or less) frames, start-up overhead Frost is 19.
I think the problem in "canceled" animation your enemy.
F112-4 duration "stun" animation very long, but if the opponent mash button or direction, animation will be canceled early =\

If this a technical bug, maybe this will can be fixed?

P.s. Sorry for my English, i'm in learnings)

A lot of moves put the character in a stagger animation that can be canceled by anything. It's just cosmetic.

We don't know the real frame advantage on f112~4, and there are definitely ways out of it like f113~daggers. The only airtight 50/50 is mb freeze --> j2 --> b1 or f3. Everything else I've looked can, at the very least, be supered through.

I really thought 16 was going to take UFGT free after his earlier performance.

Still, amazing work showing off what the Ice Queen can do. It was crazy fun to watch, and really inspired me to work harder on my game. Time to level up some more.

Dont know if its been said yet.

disregard me if someone has said this but if you MB parry a MB F3 OR B3 and try to punish on the next frame their armor may still take the hit even though they are frozen.

One of my favorite parts about KF is the animation during her Super Move. If you look closely, right after she summons the two lateral sheets of ice spikes, you can see the opponent crying. Their mouth is open and they are shaking their head like, "no, please stop!" as they are trapped on the ground spikes waiting for the sheets to collide. Whether it is Superman, Batman, whoever, you see them begging for mercy. "No, no!" Well, if they aren't consciously pleading for mercy, then it is some autonomic twitching because they just got impaled through the nether realm. Either way, it is pretty funny. I know, I know, there are better uses for meter usually, but that head-shaking, mouth open, body-twitching animation is hilarious. Sorry, pal, no mercy here. I'll freeze your heart.
