If you're going to post to your channel I need you to post a pic of your copy of the game, the disc , and your username on a sheet of paper in the following thread.

http://testyourmight.com/threads/if-you-have-an-early-copy-post-proof-and-you-can-post-info-if.29976/
If you do that then you got free reign to post as technical as you want openly out here so long as you post no story or unlock spoilers. I'm meeting the boards halfway here since the streams went up so instead of embargoing all non NRS stuff I'm letting those with proof of early copies post. Thanks for you understanding.
Ok I'll get you that pic today I wasn't looking at the forums yesterday to often.

Yup, he's a vortex character like Seth or Akuma. It can be hard for him to get that initial knockdown, but once he does - look out.

So how do you stop shazam's down 2 or whatever his double uppercut launcher thing is. Online it seems he can just spam his teleport and then down 2 you out of whatever you were thinking about doing. Any thoughts?

You can cancel into Shazam's trait off of quit a few strings. Might be useful if you end a weak combo and instantly go into I guess. Pretty matchup specific but ending with a 112 and guaranteeing a trait activation is nice.

Also he does some crazy chip while it's active, 12, f+3 is 3 hits of all fists and is positive -3 on block. If you wanted to chip someone out it's pretty much a guaranteed 5% as far as I can tell. Who knows, could be an interruptable string. Wish his strings didn't push back so much on block, not sure why they designed a trait around his fists and give him awful options for those fists.

I'm just throwing ideas out there but maybe if you get someone in the corner f1,2 could be a semi decent frame trap into some quick start up moves that would normally miss due to the push back on f1,2. Like a d1 would catch jumpers or you could try the b12 or any low startup string or normal. If you catch someone with a d1 it's an easy 113 loop in the corner. Assuming you have trait during this you can get easy 40-50% damage.

His down 2 gets beat by most jump-ins and teleport is punishable on its super slow start up.

Don't give up!
I like Shazam. A lot more than I thought I would pre-release.

But I have a terrible secret. I can't... successfully land his standing command grab, which I understand is a big part of his game. I don't know if I'm just clumsy but the motion for the grab won't come out. If I could just get it down my Shazam would improve substantially!

Have you tried using alternate controls?

Corner BnB that ends with you still facing the corner and them sucking their thumbs in it.

(Excuse my notations if they look kinda weird, had no clue how to exactly write them out for ppl to understand)

f223, 112, f12 xx Crouch Grab EX (sorry on move names), Standing Grab
The combo is just 36-38% but its more position based.
Then you follow this with a dash up D1 into his glomp mixups.

After the EX Crouch Grab you'll be facing away from the corner so just learn to do your Standing Grab input correctly, but yeah this puts them right back into the corner and gives great space for 1 dash and time to get things going. Its my BnB right now. Right now my whole mixup after that corner combo is dash up 1 into the usual grabs but also dash up D1 delay till the D1 frames are just ending into B2 (which is amazing btw guys get on dat) which then perfectly puts me in the corner for the B2 started combo and actually I've just rinse repeated the Cr.Grab EX into Standing Grab again into a different mixups over and over. Had a nice comeback on a dude just putting him into this vortex lol

Well enjoy, tell me if you guys find something else cool out of it, but for now I think this is the ideal corner BnB for the big guy. You'll see ;)

if you ex the standing command grab at the end of the combo you can b+3 and get the stage transition for free damage at the end of the combo

end your combos in db1 grab. immediately do dbf1 grab ex into combo that ends with db1 grab. repeat.

escapable with reversals but they're punishable so you can be a dick and bait them with teleport and punish or something. shit is mad good.

I'm gunna try and show people Shazam can be cheap at WNF tonight

Can you back dash out of it?

idk if people have different backdash properties, but when I tested it GL couldn't backdash out. it's hella cheap.

edit: made a quick video with my cellphone to show you guys. pretty sure this is how you're supposed to play shazam. I'll link in a sec when it's up.

I just tested this in training mode and you are correct. It looks like even if they hold down back on wake-up it still grabs them as they are standing up. It almost seems like you can command grab the get up animation if you time it right.

yeah that's how grundy works too. it was definitely a playstyle plan by the devs. spacing on the knockdown is perfect. I have so much juice for this now. it's too nice.

chucking projectiles is what it's about right now but when people realize you can work cheap stuff like this into offense the game might balance out!

video is at 80 percent. sorry it's taking awhile I have poverty internet.

edit: ex torpedo, dash forward, dbf1 is also guaranteed in the same way.

here ya go

Arturo mentioned this on stream the other day. On get up you are forced to stand for the first frame, which makes it possible to catch people with a well timed standing command grab. They can still get out of it with a wakeup attack, but they can't jump, duck, or even back dash. Shazam's command grab is I think the fastest in the game (10f?), and impossible to react to, so once you've conditioned them to this they essentially have to guess.

You can cancel back 2 and 112 into forward teleport . This leads to some pretty easy wakeup shenanigans on most people. Puts you in a good range to go into you stand grab and various other things. Hitting back 2 into stand grab online seems pretty tough. Hard enough offline. So I like this better, it's also good cause you can teleport back. Not sure if it's safe but it's amusing to poke with b2 and back away.

What are you guys using for AA or AA combos? I've been neutral jumping with 2 and sometimes using d2 but I don't know how to combo other then some obvious stuff like bf2.
