why so much fan emphasis on females?

Everyone is used to the Masculine Hero or Villain that is cool and awesome.. We see a lot of that. We don't see it too much of it in Females.

i only meant that i dont prioritize female over male, not that they are any less valuable, hell i think sonya is one of the best characters in MK9 and Sakura is my Main/favorite SF character of all time and ive been playing SF since i was 8(13 years)

Muscles in a world of super powers is hardly practical, its not about omg tits or omg too much penis its about diversity(not only gender but ethnicity and robots(ohai Jamie Reyes) and of course they'd be interesting characters as well, Capcom's SFIV roster would be the best example of what Id like in a games roster

Well, on the level that some of these dudes have muscles, it'd actually be a detriment to your fighting ability. Sources: 1) something Arnold Schwarzenegger said on the subject of being unable to kickass when your ridiculous biceps and ten-pack abs hinder your range of motion and overall speed, demonstrated here in this documentary:


But the real reason people (men) complain about the muscles in comic books is because when you Google image search "comic book enthusiast", this is the first picture you get of a human:

hmm i dont know much about killer frost but from what ive seen from tv shows/comics i like her character, even the angry ex girlfriend version lol but i think captain cold would be a better choice for this game, i could see him playing a pivotal role in the story seeing as flash is kinda the villain now and cold always had a anti-heroish thing going and possibly even having cold convert Flash to Batmans rebellion

Because just like there are essential male characters in DC there are also essential females. If we can have both Harley and Joker why can't we have Batman and Huntress (if you don't want batgirl).

Some essential females that haven't been announced IMO are:
Huntress
Starfire
Star Sapphire
Black Canary
Circe
Ivy

define essential? because by the definition im thinking of the only essential one on that list is Black Canary
and granted that Harley was not necessary (unless she's a key player in the story) these females arent either, and Harley plays nothing like Joker from what ive seen

Women in comics and video games seem to have the same proportions of porn stars, fitness models and lingerie models.

Well the men all look like Abercrombie & Fitch ubermenschen with squarer jaws and better hair so it's only fair.

It is a video game, after all. The "aw, c'mon, what the fuck?" doesn't arise until crime fighting/causing women dress like porn stars and lingerie models.

i also forgot to mention MK vs DC had 4 out of 20 female playable characters, 22 if you count Darkseid & Shao Kahn....so it really isnt likely we get 8 or more females

Yes, most the males look like bodybuilders or heavy weight athletes.. its part of the reason I dont read much Marvel or DC, too much superficial bullshit.

It should be noted that not once do I objectify to video game characters in fighting games looking like this though.
