Injustice General Discussion

Grodd is an ape. Stupidest character gimmick ever. They could have just made a badass cutthroat psychic with strength but nooooooooo they gotta give Flash yet another gimmicky stupid looking villain by cashing in off of Planet of the Apes. I hate that Gorilla and the whole Gorilla city concept. Its cheesey in a bad way and needs to end. The concept of Grodd would have been Magneto level if it was just attached to a guy whose hidden city saw themselves as further evolved and surpassing humans. Use an alien, use a monster design, use a human even, but a stupid zoo creature known best for pooping and bananas? Bad choice for a good backstory.
Grodd debuted before Planet of the Apes. Late 1950's or so.

That makes it even worse...if it was a cash in on a trend then they were just moving with their times (which would have been dumb), but now that I know someone LITERALLY thought a super powered Gorilla was a good idea with no Hollywood or pop culture influence to mislead them into this conclusion makes it even worse. Why would anyone want this? Its a God Damn Dirty ape with super powers. Theres corny then theirs just plain imbecilic.

Well, you don't like Gorilla Grodd, but what do you think about Monsieur Mallah?
Him and Ultra Humanoid are wannabe knockoffs of a bad idea. Dont get me started on the last justice league before New 52 with good guy sniper gorilla. Monsieur Mallah is an idea of "Lets make another Grodd! But wait...what if instead of one smart monkey whose tough we had him as just tough and working with a smart dude!"

A brain in a jar that does next to nothing. All the monkeys need one big genocide storyline that wipes them out in my eyes. Their like a turd that just wont flush.

shall i remind you of egg chu? the wonder woman villain that has a prehensile mustache and well, it's an asian egg. there are tons of idiotic things in comic books, a gorilla isn't that bad

we will not be entertaining character validity complaints from the guy with The Ray avatar.
From 93-96 he was one of the front runners of DC. They just kept stuffing Ray in teams. How is guy that visually marketable that has golden age history in his lineage as low tier as an Egg in a spider mech and a psychic monkey in terms of design? He's not very well known these days, but at least he's not known for sucking.

Speaking of validity and all that jazz, has Lobo ever been relevant? Also, I never got what was so special about him.

My only knowledge of the character is the DCAU and the wiki, JSYK.

Freeze is a good character... but with only story to tell: Nora... Nora Nora Nora.

He's one-note.

Captain Cold has a lot more depth and range to him. I can see him siding with anybody in the story of Injustice.
If anything, he'd go with Batman. A world policed by super-humans who kill is a place where he can't pull his heists. He'd probably agree with Superman though on killing people who deserve it though.

And if the price is right, he could side with third party... or even act as a mole to another side.

Why does everyone hate Gorilla Grodd so much? I think he's fucking awesome. A super-intelligent, evil with a capital E, gorilla who uses mind control technology and DNA weapons to control the human populations he wishes to conquer.

So what if he's a gorilla? That makes him so much better. He's one of DC's front-running villains and therefore deserves a little respect. Oh wait! Fictional characters don't deserve respect. Sorry guys. My bad.

I pointed out why I hate him which is generally why most do. He's. A. Gorilla. Man fighting a gorilla just comes across as cheesey and silly no matter how violent they make it. Bububu he tears off Tricksters arm, eats a dude and crushes a skull in that fight! Still a gorilla trying to act like a master mind strategist super villain and thats corny. Takes me out of the scene. Being a gorilla doesn't make him better. It makes him a joke. When you take an animal that is stereotypically viewed as silly, foul, and known for doing stupid things you can't shake that stigma no matter how he's written. It takes people out of the scene.

This is the entire point of his character. Everyone believes gorillas to be retarded simpletons. He believes he is superior to them because of his heightened intellect and psychic abilities. He's trying to secure a place for his people in the future that doesn't involve getting murdered by poachers and shit. This isn't hard to grasp son.

I "grasp" the concept of the character. Always understood him. However it is hard to LIKE him. Grasping a concept and liking it are two different things.

Fantastic discussion on Gorilla Grodd, great read and I believe both sides of the debate have grown thanks to it.

I believe we can all agree that he will not be on the initial roster, so let's move on.

Swamp Thing, thoughts?
