I am having trouble seeing why this is an issue? I mean sure they have both placed top, but why is them playing early in a tournament bad? I suppose the opposite is also an issue, I could end up playing you first round and REO second round and im sure I would get quadruple babalitied, but hey thats on me and I should have been better and beaten both of you.

Here are the pros of using random select.
1. No blame game/ rigging accusations. (Mostly this)
2. Much faster than having to sit down and make pools by hand.

in all tourneys top 16 seeds are given then it is in fact all random

this only applies to the first few fights, of course im not saying that it should be pros vs pros only, thatd be retarded, just saying that you dont hve to completely slaughter almost every newcomer by forcing them to fight top tier players

or maybe we need more players, this will probably be solved in mk10

Qwark28, you're using the system they use in soccer cup tournaments and even though I love soccer, I think it's a bull way to create artificial hype.

Having a newbie up against REO in semi-finals just because of a stupidly easy draw doesn't justify anything more than to see if he somehow can upset the best MK player (which he is probably 99.9% not going to do). Randomized seeding only works for something like the first few tournaments of a new game where anyone could be the best.

A serious question:

Who should make the brackets for grass roots?

I really want to discuss this because with fr coming up ive said NUMEROUS times i dont want dare be near it. Shinblanka and I talked about it and i voiced my concerns and recently txted him about the nec stuff and just said "we got to avoid this and we have to get it right"

It sucks cause it has to be someone whose very knowledgeable of the scenes players. This needs to be discussed.

What shin and I discussed was forming for FR a "Elder Bracket Gods" and have 4 people from different areas (TOs, community members, etc) collectively make the pools, bracket, seeds, etc.

Thoughts?

Got a feeling this thread will start up some fanboy talk but I understand where Soonk is going by switching to Xbox 360 for tournaments.
I play on my 360 all the time and sometimes go on my PS3 and it's just very different. The FPS is much better on 360 and nobody can deny that, I've never seen an X-ray on 360 with terrible FPS drops. It's not only the x-rays though, there are enough examples of general gameplay causing FPS drops.
The game feels a lot smoother and that it's made for 360 and ported to PS3.

The only argument you have for using PS3 is controller, the majority prefers the PS3 controller over a Xbox 360 controller. Nothing a converter won't solve.
Other than that it isn't possible to change what controller your controller is on 360(change your controller to controller 2 or 1), easily avoided by using wired controllers and waiting till the players unplug their controllers and leave the stage.

They play sf and Marvel on xbox ow because of the frame rate drops i don't see why we don't follow suit. I know that as an xbox player primarily when switching over to ps3 the game feels a bit slower and I have to get used to timing things that I already know. It's just why not take quality over quantity. Alot of tournament players play on ps3's ok, but if it's gonna lag the game, in and out of gameplay why use it? Also with the whole wireless controllers thing. Haven't those been banned? I feel like people do that on purpose to be honest. There is no way you can say well I don't know how to turn off the controller when it's exactly the same way as you would an xbox one or ect. I think this is a really good point. I admit I don't much care for ps3, but obviously with it's frame rate drops with some of the most heavily played games (sf, mvc3) it's obviously not the console for fighters.

All I'll say for now on this matter is that I was standing right by the big screen during you VS Curbo, and I forget who I said it to, but I very distinctly remember asking someone if the game looked like it was lagging.
I've played Kabal 1000 times online, and that fight looked like it was dragging a bit. Just like it would in a lobby.

The one thing I really agree with Soonk on is the stream monitor. I didn't really notice anything when I played there, but that shit was VISUALLY lagging during the Curbo-Soonk match and could've cost Soonk his spot in top 16. However, the problem here is that they didn't complain enough to the TO's

The funniest part about all this to me is that I asked GGA Soonk to report his information for a project that will, as one of several benefits, help solve a lot of the seeding issues completely. And he told me "yeah I'll do it later" and then never showed up.

Then fast forward a couple weeks, and he's here complaining about seeding issues.

So I'm going to restate this here: in order to resolve certain things, we need the help of the entire community; and if you aren't going to do your part, don't complain over the havoc that results from not having proper systems in place.

And, I'd like to extend my invitation again -- to everyone who's interesting in bettering the community, I'm working on some things to help in a number of areas.. But I need everyone's help!

So? I play and switch between both constantly. I'm not the only one calling for this change. We have more evidence now than ever supporting my side of the issue... Dave is biased against it unfairly. I am biased for it fairly. That's the difference.

Kombat network needs to shut cd jr and stop him from coaching maxter during a match. Even the commenator said it wasent legal and should be " DQ" for doing that... But i forgot is cd jr, he always does that. This cost a lot of people winning a match over someone that doesnt know the MU.
