Tekken Tag Tournament 2 General Discussion

I know how to deal with Dragunov, and kiiinda know how to fight Bryan. I haven't really played much Tekken since DR because I hated T6 so I'm still getting accustomed to all the new stuff they gave him in T6. I'll try and catch you online.

I hope they just buff Sebastian in general =P. He needs longer legs!
I dropped T6 after 1 year of playing it competively , couldn't stand the constant close range game forced by the game itself the spacing was non existant.
Im probably gonna explore some Steve , Lars and True Ogre to get a real feel of their mixup game , just watching breakdowns isn't enough for me i guess XD

Well i hope to not face a Lili / Sebastian team lol , i kinda know the Lili MU , i just don't "have it" in my hands.

STB CharlieMurphy Link? Can't see it either on youtube or his website

Does Bryan get anything guaranteed after a succesful parry? What are the best follow-up options after his parry?
After the punch parry always input 2 , if you parry a left punch you get a free mach breaker ( ff+2 ) , right punch you get a punch wich doesnt knockdown but it's advantage on hit.

Not really useful parry tbh

Any tips on how to improve my play with Alex specifically what moves I should use to punish because most of his lauchers or either slow or have little reach (I should point out that I mainly have trouble punishing Kaz Hei Jin Jinpachi and Dragunov).

To Bob or not to Bob? Jinpachi's horrible backdash and limited poking game is something you can work your way around, but still... I kinda feel tempted to play Bob because he has that "fun trolling factor" about him like Kano did in MK, at least for me lol.

Someone help that man! he's clearly being raped by an invisible bear!

but in all seriousness..

Are there any exercises or drills one can do to get used to movement and getting up correctly?
This is the biggest pitfall I'm having learning this game, and "You just gotta do it" doesn't help
a non-3d fighter out very much.

Use defensive training and practice against setups any player is using against you, this way you can figure best way of getting up correctly.

avoid backrolls as much as possible, some characters can punish it ridiculously

MOVEMENT: This will come with time. You may see a lot of people posting about practicing their Korean Backdashing and all this other shit. Ignore it. You do not need that to play. If you can "dance" back and forth with dashing, and do simpler, standard backdash canceling with bb~d~bb~d, you have what you need to begin playing. Far, far too many new players are worried about working on the high-level polish of Tekken when they don't even have any fundamentals (but have no fear, they think they do).

STANDING UP: You have two main choices when you are on the ground.

1) Take a hit on the ground - after any grounded hit, it'll knock you slightly away and you can press a button to techroll (which is invincible). Someone can still run up and attack you directly afterwards, but at least you're standing again.

2) Try and get back up. Rule #1 for a newer player: never backroll, ever, ever, ever. The advice that serves new players best 90% of the time is that when you're knocked down, STAND STRAIGHT UP. Simply tap "up" to stand directly up, then start blocking immediately. Yes, sure, there are some setups that are made to catch someone trying to stand right up, but while you're learning the rest of the game, it's almost always the best option, and what I'd recommend you do.

Just use a more splintery spoon to dig in asses with. No need to Bob it up. SPLINTERED. SPOON.

I was playing in KaraStorm's live lobby yesterday that was being streamed. It was fun, but I got my head turned into a skull, and I got KO'd grabbed and my steve fox danced to death....but other than that, it was a good experience. Learned a lot.

I laugh everytime I hear/read that comment.

Seriously...... Jinpachi doesn't need movement..... he punishes like a mac truck driving the splintered spoon into dat ass. If you know how to block.... this character was MADE for you.

I am dropping Jinpachi for Kazuya. Any advice would be appreciated.
Work on your fundamentals. Strive to stay in that "right outside of pokes" range and look for punishes. At your current level, that will serve you well.

As Anakin used to simply say, "Break throws. Stay solid."

PEOPLES OF THIS THREAD. I'm looking to get a 3-4 person private PSN room going for a session, maybe on Saturday? I live on the east coast. Anyone interested in playing early Saturday afternoon? How does around 11 AM EST work for people?

I'm still working on my hwoarang, but need improvement on whiff punishing and JFSR
I play with arguably the best Hwoarang on the east coast, so I actually know that matchup! =P Everyone plays him so differently though, he's always a fun fight. Are you on my friends list yet? If not, whats your PSN?

Kazuya punishes just as hard as Jinpachi in that 10-14 frame range. I know how to (at least in theory lol) deal with the negative edge caused by his mist step, figuring this out helped me with some stuff as Heihachi too. The only downside is the higher level of execution required aka more challenge, more depth and ultimately a more fun and rewarding Tekken experience. I can always go "easy mode" with Bryan/Bruce who are both better characters than Jinpachi.

Good players are not just gonna throw unsafe moves out there that allow Jinpachi to dig in that ass. I watched someone beat Knees Bryan/Bruce using Jinpachi/others and the Jinpachi player was practically gambling most of the time.

Can anyone here Taunt Jet Upper w/ The Fury? I never could do it in T6, but I did it several times in TTT2. Just in practice mode, no matches yet (still need more practice). I don't get to Taunt much in a match due to all the freaking spammers in this game.

If anyone wants to fight on XBL hit me up. GT: RollTide8569

Yes. Taunt doesn't track like in T6 I hear. I haven't used the taunt-JU in an actual match.

^ yea in T6 I would use Taunt after wall combo ending with D+1+2~F, 34 then dash and Taunt. But I heard it doesn't track well so I haven't tried it. But I've seen Knee still do it in his matches.

On TekkenZaibatsu they say you can do his new B, DF+4 move and cancel it to a B4 for a good mix up which leads to alot of damage at the wall. Haven't tried this yet either, but this requires them not blocking.

bdf4 is a nice oki tool, it's at least +14 on hit.
