While I like this game, watching Cyrax, T-1000, and Havik was becoming boring.
This victory spices up the meta.
Agreed, and a big reason for that is because it has been turning the game into a one sided affair a lot of the time. Because these characters have unrelenting pressure that constantly force you to straight up guess. And the issue is, it’s not like every time you guess correctly you are rewarded with a full punish. While this is sometimes the case, a lot of the times all guessing correctly does is allow to get out of the pressure and constant guessing situations. However, this ultimately goes back to my biggest criticism of this game. Because after you finally guess correctly and are able to reset the neutral, here comes the safe or even PLUS fck neutral moves and you’re put right back into the pressure and are forced to guess correctly again.
This is why I believe a good Sektor player is able to counter this meta and these characters. Because they can keep their opponents from doing this constantly, or at least makes them work a lot harder for it. And not
just by zoning them out either, she has her own good offensive pressure which puts her at a health advantage
and a positional advantage where she can take… well,
advantage, of her good zoning kit.
That said, it isn’t exactly easy to accomplish. You need to put in a ton of work and really study Sektor and the matchups. And even then, being able to execute her gameplan effectively over and over again against these offensive titans would wear down ANY good player. So the fact that ytecz was able to do this at the highest levels in an insanely stacked tournament, he deserves all the props in the world imo
