Are you saying that black people have a special gene that makes them good at basketball? Or that white people have a special gene that makes them more susceptible to becoming President?
All human beings are the same in terms of genes. Given the historical context, it is more difficult yet not impossible for a black man or woman to become president. Becoming president is obviously an extremely rare accomplishment that few men and women of any race will ever achieve. Despite being white, someone like me could never be president anyway so I would not use this accomplishment to prove or disprove white privilege. Besides, Barack Obama was the first black president of a major western democracy in a country that some of you swear is irredeemably racist. The better question is how much opportunity the average person has for upward social mobility.

finally its possible to understand you better on a personal basis. to me it seems that the USA have brought great improvements to your life, but sadly this has impressed you so much that you cant see that it doesnt work for everyone and there are still better systems out there.
Which system is better? Before you reply, you may want to know that one in five potential migrants would like to move to the U.S., a highly racist, sexist, and xenophobic country, according to many people in this thread.

"White Privilege is a nonsensical term invented by far-left scholars whose objective is to shame people for their achievement."

@M2Dave This is straight up NOT the definition, objective, intent, etc behind the term in any way at all.
I am well-aware of the dictionary definition of "inherent advantages possessed by a white person on the basis of their race in a society characterized by racial inequality and injustice", but I still stand by my opinion that the term is bogus which explains why it is not taught in public schools. I do understand that the far left has been attempting to indoctrinate the public with pseudo science such as white privilege and the 1619 Project.

I completely defend your right to have an opinion and free speech, but it doesn't change the fact that you are wrong. Enjoy your opinions.

I also defend your right to free speech and opinion but vehemently disagree with your Marxist interpretation.

Hmm.. So every term not taught in public schools is bogus? I didn't learn 'ad-hominem' in public school, but it's perfectly applicable in this thread

Not sure about this line of argument.

That feeling when even non-minority members of the NBA staff admit that this exists:

Yeah. It's kind of hard to categorically deny it when the very people who are involved are saying otherwise.

Steve Nash has always been -- pardon the pun -- a straight shooter; so there's little reason for him to be disingenuous here.

I would have figured about 40 pages ago when Dave admitted Dave Rubin to be one of his go-to sources that there was never going to be intellectual bite to his responses
You seem to be obsessed with David Rubin, whom I mentioned once in this thread. He is not even in my top five "go-to sources" for news analysis and commentary.

  1. Ben Shapiro
  2. Young Turks
  3. The Officer Tatum
  4. John Oliver
  5. Secular Talk

Arguing over this liberal vs. conservative media nonsense will get us nowhere. It's a clickbait dichotomy.

You can't have a true discussion when everything you say, and your analysis of everything everyone else says, is fed to you by a Youtube video before it starts.

It's better to try reading history instead -- analyzing based on history-driven personal analysis, rather than repeating somebody else's prefabricated talking points.

Ben Shapiro and Brandon Tatum are the definition of hucksters who are paid pundits, they are not given platforms to find nuance in the news, they are mercenaries paid to do one thing.

Jon Oliver is a comedian who does comedy segments on news stories, which is, again, not news.

TYT is a good one, I think they have done a pretty good job of building up a credible, more publicly funded news network.

My point is, of course, is that it should behoove someone to, when they want to read news, consult with people who seriously want to report the news, like a newspaper. TMZ is probably a more reliable source of news than Ben Shapiro and Brandon Tatum

Oh noes! Dave listens to conservative as well as liberal news sources instead of only listening to one or the other. What a fool!
It's more the fact that you take that insufferable fuck seriously in the first place.

Also, I love how THAT'S the thing of all things I say that you respond to. The one where you can't make it more than a sentence without ASSUMING I DISLIKE HIM BECAUSE OF HIS POLITICS, AND NOT BECAUSE OF HIS CHARACTER.
The man is BRILLIANT. And THAT'S what makes me so angry about him: for all his intelligence and capability, it goes to waste being a pandering and argument-baiting weirdo with an unhealthy fondness for my former Congresswoman. I could care less that he's a conservative. I listen to Glenn Beck sometimes, for christ's sake. But noooooo, I'm a fucking diehard leftist who only sees the side of the situation Stalin saw. Good grief.
You need to drop your damn label maker down the incinerator chute already, man. It's making you look quite...foolish.

@M2Dave @Onryoki if white privilege is nonsense, can one of you respond to the house appraisal article I linked earlier on ITT please? Conveniently, those of you who don’t acknowledge the FACT (it literally is one) of white privilege existing ignored that post. I wonder why.
I only read some posts because the amount of paragraphs written in this thread makes me feel like I’m reading a J.K. Rowling book. I just share my own thoughts and beliefs that came from my own life experiences. White privilege may be a thing to y’all but I refuse to believe in it. I don’t want to get put into this mindset where I have to be jealous of white people because they’re more privileged. Or that they have to apologise they’re more privileged. Life isn’t fair and you just have to do it with the cards you have.

I understand that you dislike big money affecting news and grassroots movements so you must also dislike Media Matters and Black Lives Matter to whom George Soros has allegedly donated millions of dollars, right?

Why can’t people just be on the side of politics they want to these days? It’s like “be left wing or you’re the devil”. Everybody has the right to have their own beliefs and political standpoints. It doesn’t matter wether or not someone is right or left wing.

Seriously, it’s just stupid that people end friendships, etc. Over who they voted for. I remember people getting publicly humiliated and get labelled as so many negative things simply because they voted for trump. Its more starting to look like the left is a hive mind instead individuals voting for what they believe in.

oh lord not the “white privilege argument”. Honestly in what way are white people more privileged than black people? This whole “white privilege” nonsense has to die. People should stop defining themselves or others by the colours of their skin because it literally says nothing about one’s capabilities. Also “white privilege” is also very strange. You think a white woman would have more privileges than Oprah Winfrey, or the Obama’s? This “white people are more privileged that POC” argument only divides people more and make POC think they should work harder to achieve something opposed to white people.

Me as a black person has never experienced white people getting more privilege than I. If I don’t get a job I’m most likely unqualified for the job. I don’t blame others for not hiring me because I’m “black”. Employers shouldn’t hire people based on if they’re black or white but if they’re suited for the job or not. People need to quit behaving like victims and act like they’re less worth than a white person simply because they’re white and supposedly have more “privilege”. I don’t see myself as less than a white person simply for being black.
This response indicates to me that you didn't actually read anything written by the people you disagree with in this thread.

I'm gathering from these replies that you do not believe that white privilege or systemic racism exists. Let me ask you a question: Do you know what red lining is?

The source is in the post.
Get a better source next time. This is what happens when you rely on people like Ben Shapiro for your news and analysis. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/riot-act/

Yes, something that has been illegal since the Fair Housing Act of 1968.
Do you think that because it's illegal it no longer happens, or that the damage done by red lining hasn't created ripple effects that we still see today?
