D4, the slow, energy ring long reaching down. Pretty sure that's D4. He used it consistently when people jumped in at him, low profiling their jump in and bumping them up enough to do a F4 or some sort of advancing combo. Check Dreamhack footage.

Hi guys. I could not read all the threads looking for this topic but please help me out:
What is the trick with F4 1+3 2222 string to come out on hit? I tap 2222 like madman but it does not work.

I could do it 1/20 times... after a juggle combo... I think I miss the point or I am too slow for it?

The moment you see Sonya punch them in the gut, mash out 2 as fast

Anyone try using the kustom ability d3 in the air? Does a quick double overhead. Basically allows you to start a combo off a long-reaching double overhead air kick. I like it so far.

I always have it equipped, it's not as useful as her dive kick but it atleast gives me a better jump in kick and it can be used as a cross up tool like chunli,s head stomp.

So I just thought I would jump in say hi... just picked up Sonya and she's quickly become my main over EB and Jax. Is there really any debating that she is 99% likely the strongest char in this game? Lol

By the way quick question, anyone else using JK to F21 into combo or is there a better suggestion out there? Seems like it works well since she darts forward quicker on that string.

Not only is it better in terms of her auto moving closer but it's also safer cause its not punishable among block. For me its preferable to jump kick, f4 into combo.

Just new to Sonya & having trouble with the ring cancels, any advice would be appreciated. I could do Liu Kangs easy enough in mix but on this I can barely even get the EX ring to come out, never mind the cancel.

How do I get f4(1+3)2222 to come out consistently? I've tried mashing the shit out of it, timing it, delaying the mash, and every other combination I can think of, and it still only comes out about 1 in 5 tries.

So uh, I can’t believe i’m saying this, but I don’t think Sonya is as good as people say she is up close. She has below average footsies, and her mids are weak, characters with good pokes can abuse her so much.

Not saying she isn’t top tier, but there are more characters that are better than her than you’d think.

She has insane pokes now stop throwing such blasphemy around here. Johnny is sometimes placed in A+/S tier even though he only has a 14 frame mid that's not hitconfirmable. B1 is a fine string and whiff punisher. And good thing she beats everyone fullscreen when she finally loses up close

Watch Scar play. The energy blast poke she has low profiles so much shit making it a really solid anti air. And footsies arent just mids. She has the scariest anti air in the game leading to some huge combo damage. She doesnt have to commit to her unsafe stuff to win, and that's what makes her scary. But when it hits it's 40 %
