MK11 Sonya Blade General Discussion

You can always punish with a d1, then immediately b1 as the d1 jails. It's not a true punish, but making the opponent block b1 is like half of Sonya's game anyways.

If you're in RM you can do like any low normal cancelled into drone to stop them from mashing. A few of those will either make em chill or make em dead, and either outcome is good here.
 
So this character is very much shades of Black Adam from Injustice 2 with the added benefit of decent mid and a more robust mix game.

Forward advancing highs that lead to huge damage and an overall weakness to low pokes.

In I2 early days Black Adam had death star level damage. Not an exaggeration, 2 touches and your life bar was gone averaging in at 500 damage per combo. That was nerfed after the first patch.

Sonya can get over 400 mid screen if you cash out on both bars or use crushing blow mid screen.

I don't really feel the need to nerf her damage though. It's fairly easy to keep her in check and her launcher is full combo punishable.

Liu Kang already got a damage nerf in the day 1 patch, but his f43 is a brain dead string and the character plays itself. You still have to space with Sonya and you're rewarded accordingly.,

NRS has gotten better with balance with I2 though. What do you guys think?

She has two amplified launchers but they're both as a result of anti airs specials.

Which means Sonya can be kept in check. But it puts more pressure on Sonya players to go for that damage when an opportunity arrives.

Yeah, agreed. I'm hearing some people complain about damage. I'm not even a Sonya main. I'm over here trying to make Raiden work, but I spent yesterday playing as her and got the gist of her gameplan. The damage is justified. It's risk vs reward.

It's actually surprisingly well balanced with special consideration paid to each characters strengths and weakness. Sonya has no specials to pop and if she wants damage must commit to a high unsafe string. (With the exception of Erron Black and Geras - both desperately need nerfing.)

What should Sonya be doing against lots of pressure? I have trouble against chars constantly being aggro on me.
 
I tried her a few sets and she's like the exact opposite of Jacqui lol. I love her damage but I still can't figure out how to play my neutral. Right now i'm just jump 3 like crazy

Hey guys, I'm still strugglin' with advancing strings and opponents with ranged footsies. I don't know how to reach them, I found out her f4,1+3 or her F2,1 but nothing more. Any help? Maybe I should d4 them and dash? Or maybe bait them dashing back into my b123 combo launcher?

I have found after you poke with d3 your best options are :
134
F13
B23d3
B234 or the cancel into 112
Or the cancel into b12
B2 us underrated. Very good up close. I havent found a use for 2122/4 yet.

Im going to post my private matches so you guys can see how I get in. The audio in the beginning will not sound good due to me not lowering the volume on the video before I put the audio clip in. Also I'm gonma eat my words and reTRY the dash cancel because in the heat of the moment its hard to land the bnb w/o the cancel.

D3 is her best poke btw

Yea man poke a lot to condition them with that d3 try to cancel it into leg grab and after poke shimmy and wait for a counter poke thats whan you back up and hit that b12, d3 on hit is plus 10 I believe
