Why did NRS think ranking down your progress for 48 hours of inactivity was a good Idea?

Mr. Righteous
its like I know they wanted to take things slowly and not rush anything but goddamn. even if they did nothing but acknowledged what we are saying and state that they got something in the works would definitely be a positive.
If this is how they plan on supporting the game for years, then im afraid people wont even care to support the game anymore.

casual player . . stops playing. . . wants to keep his rank. ..

why should you keep it when the rest of us are still grinding?
I play everyday, i say kasual cause i dont go to tournaments but i literally play every day. I dknt deserve a rank down. I didnt play kombat league but i played the rest of the game including towers krypt koth and 1 v 1. Now dont be so smug about it

But you did, thats how the system works. And you knew how it worked, and you did it anyway. Stop blaming anybody but yourself.

I don't get this mentality? Goes back to the entitlement that's been shown since MK11 was announced. "I want it all, i want it now, and i don't give a shit about what plans are in place because it doesn't agree with mine".

"I got to X level and i want to keep it, even though i'm not playing". Like WTF? You get all the bits up to the highest level achieved. The only thing you get outside of that is bragging rights. You won't drop down to grunt unless you don't play for a looooong time, and even then why should you start where you left off?

I can't recall what happens in subsequent seasons, but even it goes off your current level, is it that much of a big deal that you play a few games and work you way back up?

Do people really care that much about their rank even though it's somewhat pointless seeing as the only thing you get is some pretty things?

I honestly have to agree.

I'm in the Army and have to go to drill weekends. It sucks that when I come back, I've lost 100+ points just because I had to go to work.

I completely understand why NRS has done this.

They don't want someone to get a high leaderboard rank early in the ranking process and then just camp on their rank. It doesn't give the best indication of who is truly the best at any given point on the leaderboards when someone is just sitting on their easier to get ELO ranking from a month ago.

That said, 48 hours is literally NO TIME AT ALL. It's crazy how I felt I had to rush home on Monday and play a match so I wouldn't continue losing points.

I have to agree with @CO-KANO about the Kano thing too.

Battling to God as an exclusive Kano main is rough. At the higher levels it seems like 6/10 people play Erron Black and that matchup is just absolute hell as Kano.
Not only that but i did it with mainly dirtbag lol so middle fingers in the air

if they wnt people to keep playing they should reward them instead of punishing. for example.

10% increase in elo up to 50% on a streak - resets on loss or if you are offline for 24hrs
if you play 5 matches everyday for 7 days you get some free points (equivalent to 1 or 2 sets.

elo decay just punishes people with other priorites. for example a job, in the army as @Circus said. or just wanting to do something with family or friends.

Dammit, I worked my way to demigod with Kitana only and got deranked today! I thought I played within the 48 hours... oh well, stupid system though, 100 points is a LOT

Because they want to make it grindy and keep people playing, it's probably a remnant of that Towers of Time grind on release business.

They already do this with the KL challenges. At least for the first 10 days. On top of that, they have the daily time crystal reward for playing 5 matches. It's not an incredible reward, but it's more than nothing at all.
