Most consumers ain't high level offline players, tho.We all know MK11 is far from a perfect game, even though it's probably their best take at a competitive fighting game yet.
However, it pisses me off when people start complaining about stuff that happens at a low level of play as if the game is defined by that.
If you're gonna criticize the game, you should criticize things that happen at a high level of play. Every single game in existance, as perfectly designed for competitive purposes as it may be, is gonna look ugly at a casual level.
The meta's problems lie with a core root problem that Kotal Kahn is bad. Happy Kotal = Happy meta. Buff Kotal.I don’t want to get into a fight with anyone man, but it’s easy to see how people don’t enjoy this game’s meta.
I get that. Some people in this thread are questioning MK11 validity as a competitive game because of the "online scrub meta" though, and that's my problem with the discussion. Most consumers ain't high level offline players, tho.
It's my opinion...but the core gameplay-wise, it comes off smoother jumping into some other games...even Tekken 7, before one hits the inevitable Tekken wall.
I think Mk11 could have a great system, but it's missing some stuff I think. Injustice 2 still seems better to me...but I guess one can see what changes NRS makes.
Actually up close, just about at anytime there’s a 50/50 at play. Attack or throw.Guessed wrong?? Who were u playing?? Only some parts are 50/50 and that’s in every game.
What a scrub.Tbf...I don't think I'm good lmao.
And they are pretty easy to setupActually up close, just about at anytime there’s a 50/50 at play. Attack or throw.
I really didn’t mind throws at first. But the fact that they have only 10frames of startup AND are a 50/50 within themselves (after the already 50/50 of even going for a throw), throws are definitely dumb as hell in MK11. Especially online, they are a 1 button god tier mechanic online. Not to even mention if you do try to tech and guess wrong a couple of times, most characters end up getting 30%+ off of just a throw, lmao.
The only thing I don’t like about MK11 is how braindeadly strong throws are.
I don't believe the wife story simply because this appears to have been written by an angry 13 year old who got bopped. If the wife thing IS true, then I'm calling the fucking feds.I've played fighting games online since they have existed, this is my first MK game that I made an effort to try and learn and it is by far the WORST online game I have ever played in my entire life. Fighting games are supposed to be about reactions and making reads on your opponent. This game is 100% guessing and 50 / 50 scenarios which is complete garbage. Basically skill level is irrelevant its all about who can get the first knockdown and guess correctly from there on out. My wife watches me play, never touched a fighting game in her life nor does she play video games. She actually beat someone by picking baraka and mashing buttons without a clue. Why is this possible? Because it was so unpredictable her opponent had no idea what to do and by the time he realized she was clueless it was too late. He guessed wrong a few more times and by then it was over.
There are literally 0 mechanics of a fighting game at play here. Its literally just an advanced version of rock paper scissors, but I guess thats what the modern fighting game is since you have to cater to people who are mentally challenged just so people will play your game. I tried to approach this game objectively and patiently as possible but its straight up trash.
Add all this up and combo it with the cesspool servers that support online play and I nearly put my arcade stick threw my TV. Seriously some of the crap I experienced in the last hour of online has been unbelievable that I actually have a headache from it.
I wish i knew some people that actually showered who I could play this game offline with, but I am not that fortunate.
Well I do feel the game behaves different online...so it will get judged on that too.I get that. Some people in this thread are questioning MK11 validity as a competitive game because of the "online scrub meta" though, and that's my problem with the discussion.
If one wants to complain about the casual experience, sure, jumps are too strong against casual players and so is mashing pokes. If we're gonna talk about problems with the game at a high level, neither are valid points. If that's the level we're talking about, let's talk about the wonky hitboxes and the fact that some characters feel like they play a different game altogether. There are quite a few problems we can talk about without getting into the "I keep getting rekt by jumps online!" territory if we're gonna question if the game is good competitively or not.
No one believes any part of the story. Just another whiny scrub.I don't believe the wife story simply because this appears to have been written by an angry 13 year old who got bopped. If the wife thing IS true, then I'm calling the fucking feds.
P.S. I did laugh though, good troll post.
@TheReal-Ex_Matt You need to understand that a forum is meant to discuss fighting games, and if you can't do so in a civilized manner then perhaps this isn't the place for you. Calling people pedophiles because they disagree with you is immature. If you want to pick a fight, I suggest you hit a punching bag. If you can't talk about fighting games without keeping your cool and flamming everyone that disagrees with you, there will be infractions.
Now, there is a lot of discussions y'all can have about the game and its mechanics, but if you can't keep it civil and mature then I will close it.
And @Matix218 thanks for the tag, thread cleaned.
Then be the bigger person and respond to them without insults or simply ignore them. How hard is that to do? It's an online forum, no reason to try and prove your point to people who don't want to listen.I tried to keep discussions civilized but was met with a barrage of trolling comments and somehow mine get singled out??
Makes a lot of sense. So insulting people is tolerable depending on how people word it? Got you.
main reason at certain spacing I miss aa’s in this game is due to the fact that when at a certain range my first reaction to opponents movement is hitting block. Which then means I can’t aa as he’s already in the air by the time block recovery is gone from just tapping it, it’s too late. This isn’t an issue in sfv and means shoryuken is always available.Only of one those things can be done on reaction. No, “baiting” something is not on reaction. Jab aa in mk11 requires certain spacing, which requires you to sit still doing nothing but wait for jump. In sf, ryu is constantly moving around with the threat of antiair anywhere on the screen. He can throw a fireball or buffer a normal and recover to antiair dp, happens all the time. Thats real antiairs, not low profiling. Jumpins arent less plus MK11. They literally jail into double digit strings on block lol. Jump kicks can be easily up to plus 7 and higher too, even crossups.
Jumping isnt bad in mk11 because you have damaging punishes? Sure you’re given options to punish them hard.... in training mode. I could set the ai to jump in training mode and do the sickest punishes. In a real match you’re lucky if you’re d2 works ( which is about equal damage to dp by ryu, without the invicibility, speed, or execution). Let’s chill on the theory fighter stuff. Jump kicks are way too fast and way too high priority to just aa jab in general outside of halfscreen predictible jump ins. AA Jab is def possible but loses more time than it works at a lot of spacings

God, this is so true it hurts. loleven Tekken 7, before one hits the inevitable Tekken wall.
You don't get to say objectively and demonstrably false things and then defend it as "an opinion"So if someone has an opinion thats different from yours that means theyre automatically an angry 13 year olds?
There wasn't anything false about what I said. Maybe slightly exaggerated and possibly some generalization, but not falsified. My point remains doesn't matter how you or anyone else decides to read it. (some of you straight up cant read)You don't get to say objectively and demonstrably false things and then defend it as "an opinion"
Look, I get this is an online forum but if you're not going to try and intelligently discuss why you disagree then don't bother posting just to make someone angry and to insult them. It's immature and unwarranted.loooool at this wackjob hahaha
