@Vslayer I once climbed a mountain to find a Great old man, he looked wise and tired so I said
"good say sir, How may I help you?"
"Sit down" he said "I assume you came for the ULTIMATE ultimate knowledge?"
"Yessir" I say

the old man breaths slowly and says.....
.
.
.
.
"Everyoby PooPs"
as he flows away in dust

I think I need to add this to the OP.

This topic ties into the article I made a long time ago. On how losing helps you improve so much more than winning does. https://testyourmight.com/threads/tips-on-becoming-a-better-player-part-1-how-losing-helps-you-get-better.3674/

Learning to lose, meaning learning from your losses, not caring if you lose, analyzing mistakes, etc etc is a crucial part of becoming a better player.
Yep, I remember reading that a while ago. There are a lot of factors why people aren't improving or choosing to quit, but a lot of it has to do with laziness as you stated and letting anger and their ego get the better of them.

I'll add that link to the OP.

what people need to realize is quitting also counts as a loss

True that, but taking a large amount of losses in a row or in a short time can be extremely frustrating so just make sure to be reasonable with it. These games are very mentally taxing, it takes a ton of focus and it can be stressful.

There have been long sets where I was super tilted but I was able to come back from it and leave the set a better player. But there's also been times where I've banged my head against a wall and just didn't have the perspective that my current mind state was not producing good play. Sometimes you have to just hold that L and take a break, you can always try to add the opponent for games later.

Retired forever; don’t ask for games.
Wanting to quit before a match ends doesn’t necessarily say anything about one’s character as a player always imo.

There are those people who quit a match for probably those same exact reasons, or those who don’t want to waste time that knew they were bested.

I’m someone who quits at the end of a match, I don’t disconnect I just leave the game. Yes, I get frustrated even infuriated at the loss but it’s a spur of the moment when it comes to me emotionally and in spite of that I take notes on what I should improve on when I lab what I lost to.

TLDR; I quit but not because I have an ego after I lose but because I don’t like to waste time and would like to just go to the next match. But I still learn.

Say whatever you like, I’ll gg you after a match, I’ll commend you for the win but don’t expect me to stick around so I can waste time seeing the outros

Title: Why You Shouldn't Quit Matches.

The Team Who Animated Quitalities: "Are we a joke to you?"

But seriously, one of the most satisfying sets I had was against a really good Kabal who flipped the shit outta my salad for the first several matches, but by the end, I'd adapted enough that we were having a legit back and forth by the end.

People really do get all up in their feels about a number that ultimately means nothing as long as you're having fun.

And if your W/L really means that much, you can always make a smurf account like me.

I'm mostly talking about people quitting like in the first round and stuff like that. If you quit because you know the loss is coming I mean I think that's your choice especially if you want to change opponent well it saves time, but I mean I don't think seconds actually makes much of a difference. It's like passing a car and arriving at the same light 1 minute ahead of him, what's the point?

Spammer. Crouch walk hater.
i got vaporized by cassie walkback guns d3 mid instant elbow 100-0 and then I got poked out of my fastest mid f4 by scorp d4 100 times , lost and then got teabagged and fatalitied.

Can I quit now?

Never XD

Go into practice mode against these characters and see how you can counter those moves. Who do you play?

If they're D4'ing you just keep your distance, only go in to whiff punish.

Good? Bad? I'm the one with the fans
Maybe I'm in the minority, but part of the fun in fighting games for me is labbing all the bullshit tactics people come up with and finding ways around them. It's absolutely priceless to see an online warrior's world come crumbling down when their braindead tactic fails and proceed to have a meltdown via mic or hatemail.

Quitting isn't an option for me, btw. If you don't lose, you don't learn.

You shouldn't be happy with just winning either even if it's easy, you should always be looking at to playing that situation more optimally - discovering how to improve your character / in matchups all that good stuff. Even if it means taking hits.

Also this stuff happens in battle royales as well, generally when you die you did something wrong - sometimes the situation is hopeless but there is always something you could improve upon.

One thing we should do is message our opponent and give advice, when they lose!
or even ask what we did wrong whether not enough blocking or spacing

Oh. My. Fucking. God.

Do not EVER do that. Regardless of how nice your intentions may be, if you beat and guy and then send him a message about what he did wrong, you are going to come across as a condescending, pretentious dickhead who's going out of your way to troll him. I would just reply back telling you to fuck off and then put you on ignore.

I do understand that you in now way mean it in that manner, but it would be difficult for me to see anyone interpreting it in a different way.

I disagree 100%, if you chose to see it that way then that's your opinion, but most people don't. I remember when I started to get back into fighting games with MKX I played against a really great Cassie and they messaged me to ask me if I wanted to learn how to play her and they taught me how to be a better player overall. I never saw it as pretentious, if not for them I would have never have gotten to the level I am now.

It's not pretentious or condescending if you give the person honest feedback. People literally pay for this.
