Fatal blows are too strong. They really need adjusting.
I've also noticed certain Krushing Blows don't work at all and they removed the capability to Krushing Blow mid combo which was a huge blow to the rosters potential. I guess we share tech and hope NRS listens to us and adds more combo complexity in the near future.I agree. There appears to be limited creativity for combos. I guess the crushing blow system is supposed to compensate for the short combos. However, some characters have nonsensical, if not utterly impractical, requirements for certain crushing blow moves. Aside from the universal throw and uppercut crushing blows, I have yet to connect any of Noob's. I am aware that other characters have identical issues.
For someone with shit execution like me this is great newsflawless block must be the biggest shit a game dev. ever has released
NO ONE is using it.
i havent seen any of the top tier players use it ONCE in their streaming sessions.
nor did i ever see some of the NRS guys use it at the kombat kast gameplays lol
Totally agree with the tournament variations. They kinda suck. They need to do away with it honestly.Tournament loadouts are absurdly thought out and make no sense. The fact that Kotal only gets to use the damage totem in an official loadout is a perfect example.
The lack of a run mechanic destroys Kotal and makes the game feel slow and clunky in general.. Kotal was already weak to zoning before but now he has literally no recourse at range and his Oki is nerfed into oblivion too without the ability to cover ground quickly after a knockdown.
Story mode was crap. No big surprises, no teases for the future. Characters needlessly buried (Shao). To me MK11 was the hardest of hard resets lorewise and I almost feel like the next game might as well not even have a connection to the original lore at this point after an ending like that.
Yeah exactly. I really would like an explanation from NRS, tbh. Like, okay, they made the decision to not allow Kustom Variations in ranked and tournaments. But I believe we deserve an explanation on their reasoning. And why the absolute main thing they were advertising for the game, even AFTER announcing their decision, was 100% Kustom Variations.
There is a lot of the game that just seems like it was changed last minute and/or half-assed.Yeah exactly.
To me, it feels like a slap to the face to competitive players. “
NRS: “We’ve made this awesome new feature to make the Variation system new and fresh! Introducing Kustom Variations! Now you can build your character from the ground up and choose loadouts you really want to use! Yeah all the Kombat Kasts will feature Kustom Variations! We really made an effort to balance them out as well with the stock/slot system. The better variation moves will costs multiple slots!”
Competitive players: “This is amazing and extremely fun. Probably the best feature to date! Good shit NRS!”
NRS: “... Oh, I’m sorry, that isn’t for y’all”
Competitive players: “... wait, what do you mean”
NRS: “It’s only available for single player and player matches, you know, for the casuals. BUT! We will make tournament variations for you! We know what’s best for you and the tournament scene! Yeah half the moves a character has won’t be utilized and a lot of the fun characters will be boring now, but it’s okay because now you won’t have to worry about having fun creating your own!”
Competitive players: “Yeah no thanks, would rather just have kustom variations”
NRS: “oof, well that’s a shame. Because we made this decision without consulting the competitive community so I think we know what we’re doing. Just use the variations we kustomized for you and be happy. Having fun is for casuals only silly goose!”
People are really calling characters trash on day 3? lol
Luckily for me I like Scorpion’s variations. I really wanted a Misery Blade + Demon Dash variation, but since they nerfed Misery Blade for literally no reason (his cancels cost meter now), I’m not worried about it anymore. There is a lot of the game that just seems like it was changed last minute and/or half-assed.
First of all, how the hell are you not going to make the tournament variations the default ones if you are only going to use that for tournaments? Casual players will want to go in and change stuff anyway, this just screams laziness to me. I also have no idea how they thought not providing UI to change the variations in character select was a good idea.
A lot of the tournament variations are haphazardly thrown together and make no sense. I think Baraka is really good but he legit only has his throw move and a couple of pokes in his first variation...that's it. The movesets of every character I played are barebones as hell, even for NRS standards. The variations also aren't even based around any theme, which again screams laziness.
Ironically the more I play the more the game is growing on me, but objectively I think this was a rushed game and the quality has suffered immensely for it. I'm trying to be optimistic that they can fix these issues, but they better do it fast or i'd bet the game doesn't last more than a year if that.
I don’t know, perhaps read the other comments in the thread and reevaluate. In what way is the game unfinished? The Krypt and Towers have nothing to do with the game being unfinished, they're just unfair.
Day 3 for the vast majority. LOL. Day 6 for me. Day 7 or 8 for a small minority of high level players.People are really calling characters trash on day 3? lol
Glad you like the variation system! I too like having to google how to look up and set up the tournament variations!Ladies and gentlemen, Mortal Kombat 11 has finally officially been released!
If you have known me over the many years that I have been part of this community, you know that I am infamous for my Zod and Tremor day 1 hot takes. I am interested in your Mortal Kombat 11 hot takes. Is this the best Mortal Kombat game ever made? Is this the worst Mortal Kombat game ever made? Which character is top tier? Which character is low tier? Which move is overpowered? Which move sucks? Post your day 1 hot take in this thread. You are immune to getting blown up even if you are catastrophically wrong as long as you keep your hot take in this thread.
My hot take is that Noob sucks and needs buffs to his normal attacks.
Your turn.
I think it's pretty obvious. They either A) Felt it wasn't balanced or B) Thought that it could be balanced, but felt they didn't have enough to time to carry our that process before launch.Yeah exactly. I really would like an explanation from NRS, tbh. Like, okay, they made the decision to not allow Kustom Variations in ranked and tournaments.
