We’re gonna be sitting pretty with our goddesses it looks like.

Her zoning potential is insane.

We don’t even really have to worry about about people getting in.

If they do literally all four elemental auras provide an answer.

You pick earth and they have to eat rocks if they the so much as touch you. You pick water and you can block whatever they’ve hit you with. You pick fire and no matter what they do they have to suffer through DoT. You pick wind and, well, they’re going right back out.

Her projectiles are all nasty good too.

Chunky damage and bit boxes on the boulders and they’re a ranged mix-up, fire beam has a great arch and can be done in the air. The vines are mid(even though they previously said they were low) and track and can be amplified for aditional follow ups. A two hitting full screen low ground pound. And probably the nastiest, the tornado that pushes the enemy back about a dash and a half on BLOCK. Midscreen her reflect knocked away too.

I mean we don’t even know what that weird water gyser ice attack they showed in the trailer does, but I’m betting it’ll be great anyway.
I'll be honest, I'm feeling good. I love the fact that zoning is more complex rather than throwing fans or throwing clones. It'll give her more longevity and less bandwagon (not that she has one but still). I'm curious what her 2 variations will be, but given her core specials and the moves we have seen, they'll likely be good regardless. I think that water geyser move will be a custom only though, just have a feeling.

The Projectile Reflect seems useless imo the way they were showcasing it though. I mean how many times is your opponent going to throwing projectiles in Jip range, for you to absorb and KB them? Never going to happen. Good thing is I think there is a more practical use. What I am thinking is, say you are facing Kitana. You absorb a fan full screen away or 3/4 away, and you store your KB. Later in the match you land a hit/string, and you use Reflect KB as a combo ender. This will probably land major damage, leave them near or at full screen, and set you up with enough time to get a projectile on screen. Seems like a much more practical application of the Reflect KB.

Only issue isn’t that for those of you(not me) who seen only playing ranked, you’re probably only getting 2/4 of those auras.
This can only go two ways. The way I hope doesn't happen that you mentioned, and a multi-function activation. What I am hoping is that one of the variations has all four auras, and the other has ground pound, wind push, etc. Kinda like Summoner Quan Chi and Sorcerer Quan Chi. Probably the only realistic way we get all four.

They can make a variation where each special is activated with a different button. So if Water Shield was activated by pressing DD1, Fire Shield would be DD2, Boulder Shield DD3, Wind Shield DD4, for example. Whatever the input motion is doesn't really matter, but at least all four would be available and can't be summoned easily since they require two full D Bars (making risk/reward a huge factor). Would give us players the flexibility to call upon whichever we felt fit the moment best at the time, the few times a match it would be available. It would be a travesty to have a couple of them locked away in casual-only play.

The way I imagine it’ll get most of its usage is against characters with good mid-range air projectiles who think they’re cheeky.

Jade, Noob, Kabal, etc.

I just had a dream crushing thought.

So I was rewatching the Cetrion part of the Kast and it hit me. The competitive variations also seem to be restricted by the "3 slots" system, so at best we get only 2/4 Aura abilities since they are all separate moves, and we have no idea which ones. You called it. Wow. Now I'm devastated. -.-

Yeah that sucks for you competitive people.

I’m not going to any major tourneys and I don’t care about rank placement so I probably won’t even touch ranked much.

Playermatch is skill based and has no stats, and has kustoms, so until they figure out competitive kustoms that’s where I’m going to dwell to get my money’s worth in fun.

EDIT: that said I’m still learning her presets and using them along with kustoms so I can still share tech and discuss the character more accurately with you guys.

I feel the same way. :( I've tried to stay upbeat about the competitive preset variations news and not join in the doom 'n gloom going around, but the truth is that this affects Cetrion quite a lot, probably more than most other characters.

Since it seems likely that all of her auras are 2-slot abilities, right, we'll only have access to two out of four of them AND--assuming each variant gets an aura--we'll only get to use two of her 1-slot abilities as well (ground pound, teleport, cyclone projectile, water geyser and other possible specials from the trailer). I'm actually more upset about the latter, since I think her 1-slot abilities provide more utility overall than the very costly auras do.

Argh. I hate to say it, but my excitement to try to use her competitively has cooled quite a bit. I'm sure more variants will come eventually, but still...

Honestly, what do game devs have against redheads? We don't have ONE proper redhead in MK11. They changed Scarlet after a lot of people criticized her new look, and I get they didn't want Cetrion to look like Poison Ivy (but let's be real she still does) still, she'd look 100x better.

I WANT REDHEADS. WITH CUTE FRECKLES.
Do Kira, Taja, Omegis and Ciaan count? :p

Cetrion's alternate is like a red, darker hue and then you have her somewhat evil look.

I'm pretty sure those aura moves will conflict with one another anyway? They presumably all have the same command. We've never seen a variation that used more than one of them.

Yeah, she sounds Godly plus that line was so funny because she's like "This is Mercy" then throws a huge ass boulder at your face lol. :D
Ha, maybe I'm making things up, but I thought it made perfect sense.

She's saying that killing her opponent IS mercy. Like, "Pitiful mortal, your existence is suffering. As an all-powerful god, I will put you out of your misery as an act of mercy."

Sounds badass no matter what.

lol yeah or she could be referring to just going easy on you by not destroying you instantly like her fatality lol.

Cetrion looks like the new Starfire based on what I have seen so far. Rather than making her a mix of all elements I would prefer if they they made her elements take over her appearance separately (like Kotal's totems) effecting her moveset accordingly.

I heard other ppl say she seems to have similarities to Poison Ivy. Both are generally 'keepout' characters, both are very mother nature-esque and both have two little intenna thingy's sticking out over their shoulders

Good point! Kira counts, Scarlet counts, but they don't have a REAL redhead with freckles D: I cancelled my pre-order!

Everyone take a moment. Bow your heads. Let us pray to the Elder Gods that Cetrion's abominable launch day Takeda level frame data is buffed on the Day 1 Patch. Let us pray.

I'm not that worried because most of this stuff isn't even finalized as there's always a patch day one, and her rock boulder moves NRS said from the start have slower start up. This is why I like how she has the vines, the water teleport, the air zoning fire blasts etc to mix it up with.

She looks like a pure troll Kharacter Lmao
lol I actually think Noob looks way more trolly, some middle eastern player posted a clip on his twitter pointing out how great regular specials are at AA in this game I said the same thing in the beta with Jade, I was waiting for people to jump at me and I'd time it so I did Jade's floor energy move and they'd land right on it lol. Noob's klones work the same way but easier lol. From far to mid that's going to make a of people rage :D

So if the leak variations hold true (at this point it seems legit) we will have-

Variation A- Cyclone and Wind Shield
Variation B- Boulder Toss Delay and Water Geyser.

I would be very, very, very happy with this outcome.

keep in mind those are incomplete too. the jax one is missing moves so expect every slot to be filled out
