I am liking Jade right now.
@GLoRToR wish we could play some sets so I could show you why I think she is fair. She has a lot of hidden strength and she can be very oppressive. I honestly had the same first impressions so i started with Kabal, I then got rekt by a Jade player mid screen.
So I gave her a try for about 200 games and started understanding how dangerous she was becoming.
As far as facts, she has good frames on her strings to push players away from close range.
A lot of people are complaining that you can punish aura on reaction. If you couldn't punish a raw aura it would be overpowered. Currently it is strong, but you have to use it in reaction or set it up.
Facts about her mid range dominance. Everyone agrees her d2 deters any jumping without aerial mobility. This grounds anyone that is in the cast without an air move that can hit a grounded Jade. If you did get aura going, this also grounds anyone that relies on air projectiles. This alone is very strong.
If you use low spark. At mid range it is very difficult to react to. This let's you control them pushing buttons. It beats most footsie tools like baraka knee, scorpion b1, and skarlet strings. If they are close enough to tag you at tip range you can slight backstep and punish any of those with B2. This is the ideal discomfort zone for them. So what options do they have. They have to walk and block. Get your damage here and use the screen. If they play as perfectly as you, you will get cornered. This is where you will suffer and you may need to take risks to escape. If they didn't play perfectly then end punishes with shadow kick and swap sides if necessary.
It is you outplaying people. It feels less rewarding if the other player is better than you or if they are about even. But if you are slightly better than the opponent it is extremely oppressive. I get constant hate over the mic even if I drop a game. Your goal is to make them less patient then you and capitalize. And if they are patient punish this with chip, it's a delicate balance.
I hope this helps some.
