Is it clear what you can parry? Like staggers? Jump ins?

A stagger is just a regular normal so definitely. Not sure about jump-ins. But trying to time catching a jump-in with a 3-frame just-guard seems pretty risky anyway. Assuming people will mainly use it for things where they can anticipate the timing since the window is so tiny.

Could someone explain what this new “air escape” is that is mentioned in the OP? Like, what does it do and why you would burn 2 defensive meter to use it?

It's a mechanic from Injustice 2 where if you're in a juggle state, you can spend the meter to 'flip' out of the combo and hopefully back to safety where you can counterattack or get away. You're spending the bars to get out of the juggle and save yourself from the rest of the damage.

Not sure yet how it's been changed for MK11 but I'm curious to find out.

Like a combo breaker but a little riskier and you have to be in a juggle state. You flip out of combos and theres is some recovery when you land. Your opponent can read and punish your air escape

I had skipped Injustice 2 so I was completely clueless as to what others were saying about it. Seems like a more fun mechanic than a simple “get out of jail free” card.

There's a perfect block which can be meter burned into a parry-like punish. It's more like similar perfect guard/just guard/just defend mechanics in other games though, not like traditional MK parries which you can just leave out there with active frames and bait someone into.
Judging by what you said, I'd think it's "Instant Block", which in other games is like perfect blocking, and then counter hits with any move.

From what I've seen, controller options make it look like you can customise input timing
 
Also, am I late and is it just me, or was the MK11 reveal also the first public display of the new skinny 16bit meta?

Dude must have lost 100 pounds or something. Looks great now. All that MB cat-dashing cardio paid off I guess.

In the Sonic vs Tweedy exhibition matches you can see Sonya grabbing Baraka out of the air for a reset. Unclear if this is Sonya specific move or a gameplay mechanic
I believe it's a command grab she has. It restands if you don't follow up with the ender. I believe 16bit touched on it during the tourney

I agree, but idk if they will do that. I wish players would just not do it while on stream. Literally anywhere else doesn’t really matter. But tournament players need to start thinking about how it affects viewership. It drastically kills the hype, suspense, it’s anticlimactic, and it’s plainly just unsatisfying as a viewer. If all you had to do to enhance the experience of viewers and viewership in general was to wait 10-15 seconds or so, why wouldn’t you do it? I know the bs argument of “that time adds up”, but we are talking about streamed matches here, not regular pool matches (off stream ofc) or casuals. Also, wouldn’t you want a little extra stream time anyway?

Idk, just seems like a no brainer to me.

I understand why they do it. In tournament, they just want to get to the game and go through the brackets in a fast and smooth way. I see no reason to remove it. The tournament players aren't there to put on a show, they are there to fight and win.

This upset me so much during the exhibitions. Tweedy DCing on the last match...

I want a new kind of "Quitality" specially made for this. Like "Hold-this-L-ality"

You just don’t get it, which is fine. It just doesn’t make sense when all it takes is a few seconds and only while you’re on stream.

But seriously, those few seconds getting skipped... it shouldn't be so important.

It's used for the defensive options in the game like the new "combo escape"

Does it work both for the air escape or flawless blocking?

Really interested to know.

Also I saw new options for the input configuration that has new things besides alt configuration, release check ect.

I think there should be a tournament mode that you can set.. that has its own save system. So you can set up the streaming station, set all the values like audio levels, gama in game, position the health bars, set random gear and all that. THEN SAVE IT... so if the station reboots or new players screw about they just need to select tourny mode and it load all the setting for a perfect stream.

I would also love those settings to have a "lock out". So you can not do fatalities until the last match of the set and if you are doing a fatality or ending on a xray / brutality or w/e the players are locked out.
