Let's Talk About Skarlet Design

To think that they actually kept her glare, one of the first things that attracted right into this character in MK9 was the way she stares, and stayed so true to this and it really captures her personality.

Though I like her hair, I do wish she would've remained a redhead. So many black-haired characters in this game (and a few blondes), Skarlet having red hair made her stand out more.

As a character she looks very interesting, but i just don't like her design at all.

She looks like Catwoman in Injustice 2.

we have to see yet, if the MK 11 customization system, allow us to change the color shades of different parts of the characters, their costumes, hair, skin tone, etc .... anyway, I'm glad to see Skarlet talking first time with her own voice (in MK9 she just did some screams and grunts), and now having an own personality .... nevertheless now she surely will appear as active character in MK 11 story mode, and no as an useless background npc as her was in MK 9 story participation

Skarlet is one of my favourite ever MK characters and I went crazy when I saw her. I love her new design (especially the mask) other than the changes to her hair and face, I really feel like they should have kept the red hair. Her face seems like she's wearing a lot of make up, which I find kind of weird.

Other than that I think she looks great design-wise and her gameplay looks absolutely amazing. Also as already mentioned it seems her 3rd variation has her wearing a skin tight bodysuit similar to what she wears in the MKX comics so that is still an option.

I am a bit sad about how NRS are completely stepping away from having any revealing designs on the female characters though, I feel like it's always been a huge part of the franchise.

I feel like MKX did a good job of balancing Mileena by giving her a less ridiculous outfit without losing her sex appeal.

Skarlet's default kind of looks like an over-correction to me. I like the suit itself actually, it's the headgear that's throwing me off. But you know, blah blah customization means we aren't allowed to critique the default design.

Saw this on Twitter. It’s quite a drastic change... polar opposite even! I did like her design in MK9, and I’m not a fan of the headgear in MK11. I do like the in-between costume shown off though. Looks great.

Her gear reminds me a lot of Enchantress. I feel like the same guy worked on their costumes.

I've always loved her abs.

MK9 was literally just generic sexy female ninja nothing special about her design at all. Now She actually looks unique and with personality. Only the fucking creeps and Henti weirdos are mad she doesn’t look like a swimsuit model playing dress up.

This costume, with or without the mask is badass. I do think the primary we saw was a bit jarring, they're just trying to flavor her in a different way. The whole blood mage thing is really cool.

My head canon was that she absorbed peoples blood through her skin, which she uses for her blood magic to make people bleed more in a never ending cycle. It explained her showing so much skin in the last games. Nonetheless, give it time. It'll grow on you.

Edit: To add little more info about why i opened this thread and what is my main issue.

This change imo. is just too radical. And it's not even close to Skarlet, character that i love for years and one of my favorite MK characters ever. This is not the character i know and that i love.
Imo. they went into completely wrong direction here.

An educated guess would be the SJW crowd had something to do with her radically new feminazi-ish appearance. I wonder if her prematch commentary will include man shaming and other “progressive” ideas.

Having said that, her fighting style looks pretty amazing. I really just hope social politics haven’t infected this series too, seeing as how the tone otherwise really hasn’t matured much.

The real test will be if Mileena is in it, and she follows suit. That would probably break the MK universe.

Exactly. The violence has gotten into truly squeamish territory with UE4 visuals, but a traditionally feminine look with some cleavage showing is apparently too appalling and unacceptable.

That's not really an achievement. Reveal was pretty meh and Skarlet was the only real surprise.
