The Food Thread

EntropicByDesign

It's all so very confusing.
I cook occasionally.

Doing Chicken Florentine Crepes tonight or tomorrow. Just made pocket potatoes for some friends (and myself) and have agonized over rice pudding recently, with a ton of posts on the site to that effect..

Interestingly enough, I have moved on from my original rice pudding tests and have been fiddling with "Mexican" style rice pudding.. arroz con leche? Is that right? Whatever it's called it's vastly superior imo.

Not a huge fan of a lot of South American foods and such but that's mostly because of very little exposure to the real deal, mostly just recreations and bastardizations.

I'll post some recipes a little later

Here's a question though..let's separate the men from the boys. Assume all ingredients to be absolutely top quality. how do you all like a good steak prepared?

I live in a country were we know that they are the same fruits but just different variety of the same fruit. We don't act like we are some kind of Banana connoisseur
Then you my friend have not heard of guineo. Either boiled or escabeche style.
Not the same preparation my friend. You cannot make tostones with guineo, nor mangú, mashed plantain with these. Here in our country exists also bitter plantain called rulo. This one is very bitter and can only be eated (Unless that person is a masochist) by cooking it.

Yeah.. You can say plantain banana or rulo banana or saba banana if that makes your feelings happy.
But the point is that there's a difference.
You usually never eat plantain or rulo in raw. Only the banana, and You usually not cook the sweet banana bar for making candies or something extreme sweet.

You normally don't make a main dish from sweet banana only. With plantain You can.

I totally didn't see the 'cooked' part.
Tostones are awesome.

Counterpoke with armoured DB2 at all times.
I remember when someone was complaining that this website was meant to be based around NRS games and was upset that DBFZ was getting a lot of attention.

And then @Braindead comes along.

"Food".

This website never ceases to amaze.

Son, this website used to be so much more than you can imagine. A thread about food would've been the least strange topic you'd come across a few years back.

We call them banana poyo in my country(the bitter ones) some people eat them raw. While it is true that the plantains are eaten cooked the classic banana can be eaten cooked too with stuff like chips

I cooked this yesterday. Feijao with rice, oven baked meatballs and potatoes. Where are my Brazilian peeps at?
First off, just say beans, second, that is the most fraudulent thing I've ever seen and you're banned from Brazil.

Salt, Pepper, grill to medium rare or medium. Rest for 10 mins and eat.

Salt, pepper, cook in pan in butter basting until medium rare. Put in oven to finish for 2-4 mins. Rest for 10 mins and eat.

Any other ways and you're not eating steak.

No need for debates Chicago is better
There is no debate.

For deep dish, Chicago. NYC for all other. If you've been to both cities and have had both, you know what I'm talking about.

If you think Pizza Hut/Papa John's/Dominos is pizza, I have some wonder bread with v8 and american cheese that you'll like better.
