This is the most important part of our conversation so I'll take this first.

Yeah, she's moved down in power. She was overperforming, she got normalised.
She'll perform under the margin where she previously performed but that's the POINT of a NERF.
This was necessary, because she was breaking the game on multiple levels.

They had two ways to go about it: either buff everyone else, or nerf Catwoman and Supergirl. Sadly, they probably weren't going to do extra work when they can solve things the easy way.

Please understand, tier placements are NEVER cemented and her being in a tier of her own had to be fixed. Tanya in mkx had the same issue that Catwoman is having, and Tanya got hit way harder than this. Every top player dropped her, yet according to pretty much everyone, Tanya was still fine.
It's early to judge, though. Catwoman very much still might be a force to contend with. Wait and see.


I'm not sure what "backhanded" means. I'm guessing you took offence. I'm sorry if you did. At the same time I feel you're missing some crucial information about the character, or you're such a zealous loyalist that you disregard the fact that this character NEEDED those changes.

I've mained bottom tier before and I've done everything in my power to raise awareness to how bad that character was. Sadly, this community does not take kindly to character loyalism where you want to win matches by crying tiers.


Then go and do fine with her instead of arguing on a forum. And if you end up not doing fine with her, you can always pick up another character.

What you're doing in this thread is unwarranted, unnecessary, causes you stress and makes you look 5 levels lower in skill than you probably are. You aren't going to get her buffed, you aren't going to get sympathy and you definitely aren't making any friends here with this attitude.

I've spent most of my NRS career maining bottom tiers. In MKX I played Dualist and high tech for a large part of the game's life, and I understand your sentiment. However, I think that there doesn't really exist a place to discuss one's opinions about a character or NRS decisions other than TYM. I'm not looking to make friends, I'm just looking to discuss this. Additionally, having mained Tanya and CW for a significant period of time, my impression is that Catwoman's nerfs are comparable to that of Tanya. Tanya, though, was extremely viable at a high level at the end of MKX (speaking from experience), and I'm not sure if the same can be said of CW right now. I think that CW could have received fewer (albeit major) changes and would have been balanced just fine. E.g., a nerf on b3 and 1f2 instead of adding damage scaling, completely destroying 33b2 and 333, etc. I just think that they went overboard, but I agree that changes were in order.

Give her a whirl for the next few months and see how things pan out.

I'm surprised Supergirl didn't get hit as hard as Catwoman given that Supergirl has gotten so much more representation at a high level tbh, but then again I guess Supergirl's meterless damage isn't that good and she didn't low-profile overheads...

I think the Catwoman nerfs are good. Maybe I'm biased as a Superman player, but it always made me mad salty that she outdamaged my 1-bar trait combos midscreen without using any resources, especially after watching tournament sets where they'd always be like "uh oh back up Superman gets monster damage."

I wouldn't say I've done so to an incredibly thorough end, but I have considered it pretty heavily. So many of her matchups change, and areas where she was capable to overcome certain obstacles are now totally adjusted. I would like to see how things turn out in the tournament setting but i'm pretty confident in my evaluation. I'll try to add you on PSN later though

I would personally like to see how she fairs as well in a tournament setting but to be completely honest, I wouldn't go as far as to say that she is this bad without actually grinding out her MU's thoroughly with her new adjustments.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion but have factual evidence to support it, not a "she's bad because" kind of thing. Trust me, I felt the same way you did when I played joker in the beginning of this games life. I straight up was fuming over how garbage he is and why NRS would take away so much of his reliable tools and ignore him etc etc etc but it turns out, he fares much better in this game then he did in injustice 1.

He's still trash though lol just give yourself some time first.

Uh, buff/nerfed.

And not good ratio between the two apparently. If I remember correctly only his 112 string is plus off a stampede cancel, which is a high and jails into 22, but 22 stampede cancel is now -3, B2 stampede cancel isn't plus anymore I think. Stampede cancels got easier but they're not as good as they were before, and it was one of the only things he had going for him and basically his only way of opening someone up to get his vortex started.

Tbh I'm kind of fine with the low profiling now that I am not eating 400 damage for it. You can B3 meterlessly through that F3 as well but I was only able to get it once or twice out of 30 minutes of trying.

They literally nust balnced her... and a poor job of it imo. She still has every single fucking annoying tool that made her win mu’s, except she now doesn’t have oki loops into + frames & can’t spam B3 as much-she can still spam it decently through gaps, and still low profiles. I wouldn’t be suprised if it didn’t even knowck her out of top 5.
