I’m pretty sure XB1 and PS4 will play the game at 60 fps, from what I’ve read. All PS4 pro and XB1X will do is allow for 4K. I could be wrong though.

Better hold your words regarding their frames there. It's true for PC, but we don't know about the 60fps for the consoles. From Software isn't used to max its games to 60fps. And this one is known since Bloodborne.

They even said about 4K/60fps, but I know that 4K can't hold 60fps right now.

There's some questions I'm gonna have though.

Most importantly being, this is actually the game rebuilt in the Dark Souls 3/Bloodborne engine, so does that mean combat functions on the rules of Dark Souls 3?

Some people were saying this is why Dark souls 3 had a poise feature that essentially was “turned off”. Basically so it could be used with this remaster.

totes getting it for PC, just wonder how the physical stuff will be handled if there are physical bonuses in the collectors / deluxe ultra plus XL version.

I just hope Demon souls gets either a remaster or made available on the PS4. I never owned a Ps3 so never got to play it!
Yeah, I kinda wish this was a Demon's Souls remaster instead. I understand why we got Dark Souls, it's more popular and it kinda runs like shit on most platforms. I love Dark Souls though so i'm super excited for this. The areas are going to look fucking beautiful; Anor Londo, Firelink Shrine, Oolacile, ugh I can't fucking wait.

I'm honestly kind of indifferent about the remaster because I already played DS1 to death on Xbox, and knowing remasters this is likely going to just be Dark Souls 1 with a couple inprovements, but no new content / changes to gameplay or areas. If you're fine with that then go for it,but I'm likely skipping this until maybe a sale.

How could it be rebuilt like Bloodborne/Dark Souls 3 and still be 60fps though? Sure its not just a reskin?

I'm thinking its the original game with 'polish', like remasters usually tend to be.

I can understand that.

My PS3 died on me shortly after I purchased my PS4 a few years back, so this is personally exciting to me because I have been dying to go back and play the game, but am unable to. It's been a long time, and DS1 was by far the deepest and most creative of the series (Bloodborne being the most polished and refined, before I accidentally start a shitstorm).

The remaster aspects themself don't mean much to me, outside of their potential practical implications. DS1 had horrible graphics, but nobody noticed or gave a shit because the artwork was so great (a lesson developers of other games would do well to learn.)

It would be cool if they added a brand new hidden area or something, but outside of that highly unlikely exception the game should remain exactly the same.

It's also a big deal for those of us who have been anxious to introduce friends to the series, but hesitant to recommend they begin at DS2 or 3.

Thing is, if you go back and play the game today it feels last gen. The controls feel unreasonably clunky by today's standards when compared with BB or DS3.

It has to be a complicated decision whether to update them or not for the developer.

I'd feel like updating the controls would be a mistake. Obviously it wouldn't bother those new to the series but to people who've played the game before it would definitely feel like something is off. The clunky gameplay is essential to DS1 IMO, I don't really want it to feel like DS3. I'm not really sure what to expect though since From has never done an actual remaster before as far as I know.
