Doctor Fate General Discussion

@OmGxBdON do you have any suggestions to connecting f2u3,f2xxdf1,df3,b3 when you hit the f2u3 from like almost it's max range, because I find that on some characters the immediate f2 right after doesn't connect, and when you wait a bit it becomes difficult to hit f2xxdf1. I was doing it just fine on Superman and Green arrow, but then tried it on Scarecrow and was hitting it like only 1/10 times...

Just do f2u3 then link a fireball into ankh instead of doing the f2xxfireball. That's what I do

So f2u3, fireball, far ankh, fireball

I don't think so man. from full screen fate actually wins now.... have you played it?
Have you tried relying heavily on traited zoning with deadshot to beat Fate from full screen? The meta is probably just different now and you gotta play differently? Idk you're the deadshot expert, I'm just curious

Well, in that scenario I go for f2u3xxdf1,f3,11,f2xxdb2 to get damage, but it still does like 40 damage points less than f2u3,f2xxdf1,b3,J3,f2xxdb2 conversion. Of course consistency is more important)

wrong. fate is a mediocre character who desperately needs buffs to have any chance at being competetive.. stick to the plan...
Man, I suck at this downplaying game... Here, let me try... I mean... He is fun because... I love the low tier struggle with a character who has super intricate mechanics in combos which take execution to master but do not make the character any better... Is it ok?

You know me as RisingShieldBro online.
This character is bottom 5.

Glyph needs to be plus on block like..

Why do I have -8 special when supergirl has a plus on block string?

I CANT PRESSURE.

Also he actually needs 6 ankhs to make up for the lack of tracking of the 3rd, because ankhs are completely useless and should never be used as they are right now.

While we're at it, why do we have to spend bar on an orb to keep it in place? People can just walk up and block it so I spend a bar for nothing.. It needs to be unblockable so he can actually zone his opponent out.

Am I right or am I right?

I disagree with him being bottom 5 lol. That is almost as bad as the Adam tym wanting a better mid.

I wouldn’t change anything about him

But if I could...

Airshots, I want them now

Edit

Imo, airshots are needed and he is bottom 1 without them

while i obviously agree completely in every single way, all i'm gonna say is remember what happened when buffalo said sub vs batman was a 2-8..now "sub is top 5". we gotta keep fate under the radar..because we like the low tier struggle...

guys he's mid tier character. he struggles to compete with anyone of the top 10 characters, which is why he has almost no top 8 representation for the entire life of this game. pros look at this character and wisely choose to avoid him because he's just not viable. that is a provable fact.

here are a list of buffs. he needs this at the very least in order to compete:

1) his d2 is completely useless and it is a huge issue
2) his j2 is the worst j2 in the game, leaving fate without an essential tool

hopefully nrs will give fate the love he deserves asap

so i want to learn this character, kinda worried about how to use his ankh's properly as well as how his corner bnb's go, he can juggle off a lot of stuff that u wouldnt normally think you can juggle right?

Learning how to use his ankhs properly is like learning how to use another character in itself which is wt makes him complex and fun

You have to just take opportunities when you are at advantage or safe in example you hit someone with a df1 build an ankh , you knock someone full screen , your behind a mb orb etc. ending a combo with f2u3 canceled into ankh call is also great

Having two is ideal it's not too necessary to have 3 at a time since the 3rd one most likely whiffes in most cases unless traited

When throwing out your regular ankhs use stuff to keep your opp from moving like df1 or orb so that they don't whiff then build another ankh and do the same the ankhs stick to the opponent for a while so it gives you time to throw more on them

Once the beam drops if they block it I like to activate trait and build another ankh depending on who your facing you might b able to squeeze in two

Once in trait of you can use them to zone , pressure ,extending combos or keep yourself safe

Df1 into far ankh is great if they are in the right position if they get hit I take the opportunity to throw an orb and build more ankhs

Waking up and throwing close ankh at the same time is fairly safe and covers a lot of options

B1d2u3 while throwing ankhs is a great way to get in and b plus depending on if you have more than one a competent opponent will punish you if you only have one

Ending in 211 is your best friend it's a hard knockdown and if you are in trait you can throw a far ankh and it lands directly on them

There is so much more but you kind of just have to start playing him and then any other questions
you might have I'll b happy to answer

For combo extensions or setups refer to my YouTube bltemperorninequads

Also another great thing to learn is building an ankh while throwing one at the same time if you don't know wt I mean by this I can answer in more detail later

There are many different ways to integrate ankhs, many players barely use them. Usage is mu dependent for me, but my simple rules of thumb are...

Try to have one at all times for meterless combo extension (activate trait off b2 aa etc.)

If opponent is comfortable/trapped at mid to long range. Cycle all three untraited ankhs amidst other projectiles (attach 2 then summon another, the fear this instils normally allows other zoning options, but be ready to punish a panicked mb roll).

If the opponent is eager and able to get in your face, build min 2 ankhs whenever they’re out (or mid/end of combos), to help create traited block pressure when confronted. Fate is decent up close anyways, but those character that can get into this range comfortably are normally better. I find this adds an extra dimension to catch those people off guard and allow you to create space.

Ultimately, they’re one of the most versatile tools in the game, so I don’t think there is a correct way to use them (if you even choose to). I just think they’re swag af.
