Let's Explore This Terror Together: Scarecrow General Discussion

For the command throw after a D1 you have to input it really fast. The way I think about it is inputting a quarter circle DB then flick the stick forward. You don't have to return to neutral to do it. You just have to be quick about the inputs. Think about swirling the stick backward in a quarter circle like you would to get the Scythe Spin special, then flick it forward while pressing 3. The key is to be pretty quick about the input after hitting D1.

I realize that a bit of a muddied explanation, but it's one of those things that you have to get the timing and rhythm for.

EDIT: Also, the same concept applies to converting a D1 into command grab off a successful J3. Just be sure to input the D1 as soon as you land. Any later than that and you won't be able to get it.

It's all so very confusing.
So, I was browsing around and ran across the Black Canary Community Guide and took a look at it.. I think its an extremely good idea, super helpful for players of just about any skill level.

What do you all think about compiling a Crow guide? I dont mind to do the legwork on it, but since Id be basically gathering and organizing other people's information and tech, Id like to hear from some of the community members, ideally some of the contributors who's information Id be referencing, lol.

Just a thought.

As much as I hope this sweep launcher stays a thing... I really think they will change it

Honestly I don't think they will nerf it. It's just a character specific perk in the corner off an insanely slow plus 1 on block move that guarantees nothing if it blocked. I say it needs to stay due to uniqueness. This isn't as brain dead as say xcough "mkx scorpion" coughx. It just solidifies his corner game even more which is a just reward for working to get you there.....especially with all these zoners everywhere and escape artists (MB roll anyone or pushblock).

I only messed messed with it for a bit, but is the link as tight as it felt?

Meh, don't see why this would be nerfed..it's def nice to have but don't we have other low options that lead to more damage? Sweep is +1, so that's def a plus over some of our other options but.. I dunno.

Spammer. Crouch walk hater.
It won't be nerfed since there's no mixup as the character doesn't have an overhead starter except f3(LOL).
Everyone is blocking low anyway so nerfing it is pointless. Also the link is incredibly tight, this is something people don't realise until they go try it and drop it after a few fails.

Unless ur me and you spend 3 hours doing it and trying to find the highest damage lol.

Well it's not hard as long as the sweep connects on someone facing the opposite stance from you. It's only when both characters are same stance that it's extremely difficult. No need to shit your pants over nerfs that only you think are coming MD lol

Anyone else noticed a weird bug where your opponent takes dot damage when trait isn't even active and you're also nowhere near them?

I have but i thiiiiink its because characters like aquamn whose ftd don't count as a projectile
Hmm but I've noticed it against characters like Supergirl and Catwoman, I think I have it recorded.

And it's also when trait isn't even active at all sometimes

So I'm in the lab messing around and breaking some rust off (other games) and happen to come across something interesting. I just found this so I'm testing to see what works and what doesn't, but I figured I'd share this so anyone can mess with it too. Basically you do a command grab in the corner then the second you recover you do an ever so slight forward step into command grab. For whatever reason this registers as a cross up. The little testing I did do was against Supes wake ups and aside from armor, fast (pending hitbox) and moving hitboxes like his grab and Superman punch. Works against his other wakeups. Maybe abuse some slower characters or characters without wakeups, but still going to test more. It isn't going to be anything game changing for him except for maybe an added bonus.

If you perform a move on someone as they get up, there's 1 frame or maybe a few frames where for some reason it says it hits as a crossup instead of saying it hit same side. No idea why lol

ok, i have no idea what to do as darkseid against this character, can't really keep em out because his zoning isnt strong enough, and his reach is so damn long that it doesnt take much for him to get in. and how many frame traps does this character even have?

Takes about 10-12 whiffed IAFB to build a bar. If your opponent is content trying to sit full screen contemplating how to approach it's an easy way to make them think twice.

Personally I think this MU tilts in Scarecrow's favor slightly for the reasons stated above. Darkseid's zoning isn't as threatening as some others and up close Scarecrow has better buttons.

As far as frame traps, a lot.

so what do i do here? i'm sure one of my other characters would be a better pick, but what are my options with darkseid?

If I were a Darkseid player I'd likely focus on keeping Scarecrow out & save Trait for mix ups. Get my damage then focus on keeping Scarecrow at full screen. Never get into a zoning pattern.
