It's all so very confusing.
I have hope. If we see network improvements too this could be a good thing.

I don't understand why we didn't get patch notes until now and were led to believe the patch was middish-March when in fact it's late April, but shrug, at least we know what's coming and can plan accordingly.

My own plans don't really change except now I feel like Urien may be worth learning. I'll stick to Karin as a main though and occasionally practice bomb setups on Ibuki and never play her.

I will, I guess, be returning to semi-regular play though. Patch obviously isn't here yet but now that I know what to expect and have some idea as to what the game will look like, there's no reason not to keep playing.

oh look they nerfed Guile exactly how I said they would but what do I know about the character lul

cammy, Karin, Rog, and Laura easily easily still need adjustments. Jab aa almost gone. Random birdie armor buffs again. Urien is fine now. Gief buffs were random. I think some of the lowest tier just need slighty more of a push but it's a decent start. I like the universal changes. Necalli braindead vtrigger headbutt fixed but still jab aa. Alex more annoying than ever. Ryu players got their st. Lk reverted after leading people to believe this is what ruined the character and not the bum stuff I wonder what they'll complain about now

Rashid, Karin, Gief/Laura, Rog, Cammy my early impression for top 5. Overall the patch seems to improve the game and not perfect it but I'm a fan. I wish they would focus on the player experience now and less on the gameplay with these future updates

Did Cammy get buffed again?!

I agree with the Urien and Guile nerfs.

I don't agree with the Rashid st.LK nerf. It wasn't even that good and other characters are keeping much better aa's.
Honestly Urien got off free. The cr mk nerf is kinda whatever since it was always the last button in a blockstring unless you were super max distance and going for like st mk which you got nothing off of anyway. And the ex tackle nerf is meh since you've still gotta respect the reflectors and the ex headbutt follow up.

I do think people are overlooking how big of a buff it is to Laura and probably Rog as well that the jump back is tech is gone.

Also is capcom trolling with giefs new parry? "Only works on horizontal kicks"? That's oddly specific.

I know Ryu's j.lk, aa jab into mix ups and his advantage on throws made him very good in s1. I think the st.lk and st.mp range buff will help him in s2. What do you think he really needs?

Very conservative.. I mean, it seems like the good will stay good. Balrog lost a jabs worth of health.. and kept everything else. That is kinda crazy to me.

Urien seems to have come off pretty well. I don't see anything that will break him, just some qol stuff for his opponents really. I'm actually glad to see that. I like him.

Karin and Ibuki really didn't get fooled with much/at all, so super glad to see that.

Chun probably needs something. I dont understand the Fang changes, while they are a buff, I thought his issues were damage and the fact that poison builds opponents vgauge like crazy.. but then, I don't know Fang well so I can't picture the changes in action exactly.

Laura came out ok imo. Again, qol improvements for her opponents.

Yay Ryu.

Cammy is now STRONGER? For serious? I guess I should have kept up with her=\

Alex. Fuck you Alex.

Gief. Undecided. I personally think he's broken, so let's see what the changes do.

Yay Nash!

Etc.
A large problem of FANG in S2 is that he lost punishes in various situations due to the crMP startup change. Also, the stHP change, if the hurtbox isn't too detrimental, allows him to link it from stHK. So his damage is improved in terms of punishment options.

Chun is fine. She generally still makes you mad with good buttons, just she can't use an option that gives her + frames while jumping over stuff and beating your throws.

He needs a better fireball if they're not going to revert the throw changes, unless the stLK and stMP changes are done well and do address problems with him.

He honestly should get his loops back in the corner and let him get midscreen what akuma gets. Let him at least meaty you with a button to hold you down and keep you honest or if he conditions you to block get a dash up and get an unsafe mixup if you're sleeping.

His mid range game should be better most likely through buffing his fireball and Cr MK range but the meta doesn't favor a playstyle of death by a million pokes like Guile's so it'd still be rough but at least he would have a gameplan

And get rid of his jab aa too now that dps are back. Same for Necalli's, but it doesn't seem like they'll take away Sim, Gief, Karin, kolin so I'll just have to settle for characters with dps

I agree with jump back tech helping Laura. Pretty big indirect buff for her and other grapplers.

I think Urien took a decent hit. When he was +0 you said I should just hit my 3 frame attack, but I found out later that my 3 frame gets beat by his cr.LK due to pushback/low profile stuff. Now, I'm sure I can beat all his normals.

As for cr.MK, it was a great poke and he didn't just use it in blockstrings. Long range plus on block lows like that have a lot of utility.

I'm super surprised there weren't dmg and stun changes in this patch. I feel like half the characters that are considered strong are only there cause of their dmg/stun potential.

See, this is my belief. I know that balancing by just cutting some damage seems lazy and overly simple, but in many cases, it seems just damn fine. I mean, if Laura couldnt output 400 fucking damage one bar combos (yes that's an exaggeration, but that bitch hits HARD under the right circumstances) her mixups are much more easily dealt with and the risk/reward starts to go from stupid to reasonable, because if I DO read and punish a command grab I can even out the damage a little more easily. Same goes for Rog. He SHOULD be oppressive and he SHOULD be a bully and he SHOULD be a bad-ass that hits hard, but there's a difference in hitting hard and punching through your character literally into your face in front of the monitor. Just shaving some damage lets characters have very powerful tools, oppressive offense and crazy pressure and neat setups and all this stuff, but keeps it from getting out of hand because the opponent gets an extra wake or two to try and get things turned around.

Ima be honest, I am kinda flabbergasted by the 'Rog changes.. Or change. a jab's worth of health isn't going to make that fucker reasonable, lol. Almost makes me want to pick him back up. I was going to main him, but after seeing how ridiculous he had become I THOUGHT he'd be neutered by 2.5, so I dropped him because I didn't want to waste time on a character I didn't think would survive the incoming nerf bat. Oh well. He's not a compliment to Karin in any meaningful way, so Id have to drop her for him for it to make much sense, and I enjoy her too much I think.

I like the Ryu changes. I hope he sees a significant jump. I still feel more comfortable on him in Ranked than anyone else.

You could hit a 4 frame button and trade then lol. Also nah, it has the startup of a sweep and can only be canceled into v trigger it still does what it's supposed to. If you were getting bopped by uriens doing up close cr mk into cr jab combos it wasn't cause that button was too good.

Your thoughts on Guile? Im seriously not being ironic, or snarky or anything, just purely wondering what you think. I want a fireball character to compliment Karin and Guile is top of my list next to Ryu, so just wondering what you think.

Yeah, I think that's actually kinda insane for them. You already cant get up off the ground.. Gief too should benefit from this. That one change, even though I dont use the OS (im just bad and have enough to practice and worry about, I planned to learn it eventually, but I wanted to work on how to deal with the shit without it first) is probably my biggest fear.

Also no proximity block change on Laura's fireball. I thought we'd see that.

you know it's funny that chun's air legs move is basically Guiles upside down kick now

he's guile, solid character if you know what you're doing just more boring than ever now. I hope these nerfs mean people don't talk about the character like he was ever actually top 2 no question yet nobody choosing to play him. The nerfed his forward throw like a billion times now for no reason but whatever

people like this guy is why we have Balrog and Laura still how they are as if they know anything about guile like guiles playstyle is what's wrong with sfv lul

The way people complain about Urien, Rog and Laura is about to leave Guile sitting pretty as the #1 character in the game after the next balance patch.
ya man you know all those guile players tearing it up in silver rank there you go Capcom got your back lul enjoy Balrog/Laura for a year

Yeah, Rog got off with basically nothing done to him lol. At the very least, Laura lost something mildly meaningful. Cammy's getting additions still for whatever reason, too.

At least they're reverting some of the things they did throw out of wack with the original balance update.

Fair enough. Thanks.

Welcome to Akihabara
I dont know why they nerfed ken again. Thunder kick is slow enough to react to and now he gets punished for it.

God Confirm

We're all from Earthrealm. If not, cool pic brah.
What else changed about her that was harsher than that?
cr.lp nerf was the biggest nerf
if crouch jab were still 3 frames, IAL would still lead to decent damage and a setup without meter, now it doesn't unless you hit while they are crouching. It took away meaties that can lead in to st.strong and it took away a get off me jab that was +2 on block and traded it for one that's -1 on block with crouch lk
it also lost a bunch of combo links

but honorable mention to the Vtrigger timer being p much cut in half, activate it during a combo and its already half way gone by the time your opponent gets up, people deliberately not quickrising vs her and shit to make sure you get practically nothing

plus the insta air legs, just those 3 alone are fucking massive nerfs

then add expanded hurtbox during footsies, expanded hitbox during crouch (which has just been expanded again), massive nerfs to AA's on a neutral-focused character, extra whiff frames on ranged normals, extra start up and recovery on projectile, massive damage nerfs, and slower startup on bunch of key normals and specials

her changes were a lot more than just "can no longer beat throws while being slightly plus if your opponent doesnt anti air"

Anyone want to play? I'm going to mess around with Cammy some. As much as I like karin, I really feel like Cammy is a harder, but even better version of her and I want to kinda put this nagging doubt I have to rest, or prove its validity. One or the other.

I actually forgot about the projectile change lol.

The AA change...eh, from the little Chun I've seen in S2, it's not horrific. I've actually seen very little impact...but my exp is obviously limited. Not that I'm saying you're wrong.

The VT duration will probably get adjusted in a future update, but that definitely needed to change in some manner.

Doesn't crLP still combo into stMP? I'm not saying it's not impacted any, but if that's the case, it wouldn't surprise me that Capcom was simply trying to give more justification as to why it can even do that.
