For Honor

GG's @buyacushun you picked up on the game real fast. Raider is definitely the character for me. He plays to my strengths the most and his simplicity allows me to focus more on other things. I gotta get used to canceling heavies into stun tho, don't use it enough.

Don't have much exp vs Raider so I'm still free to him. So far I just learned to stay away from hallways pretty much similar to fighting any Viking class char.
Yea his wall splats are pretty good. Rarely anyone PLAYS him in 1v1 i've noticed. He's super popular in Dominion tho. Idk why every 1v1 player is a Samurai player.

btw in that video, skip to about 1:10:00 after the dominion games start if you don't feel like watching me be bad with Berserker and then proceed to have a shitty team on Raider.

Ive been playing Raider, Warlord and Warden in 1v1. I love shield break, light attack into unblockable on Raider, good mix and if their reactions are even slightly off they eat a shit ton of damage.
I've been using Raider in 4v4 and hardly dying. If I get low on health I either self heal with the "items" or go back to the side points to heal. And he can throw people off edges so easily and from so far away that I've gotten several hate mail messages from it.

The most annoying game type is 2v2 because my teammate always dies and 2v1s are really hard to win in this game. Yeah revenge mode is a thing but 2v1 is still too hard to beat. So I prefer 1v1 and 4v4's.

I've done multiple 1v3's in Dominion as Raider. It's fucking intense but ya know, sometimes 3 people at once don't react fast enough to the giant sweeping unblockable attack lol.

Normalize grab immunity.
Raider is my fav, but Nobushi is the guy to play for fighting game people.

Gotta play footsies, attack canceling, stances, stance canceling, whiff canceling, etc etc. Much more complex than the rest of the charactesr.
I didn't even look at the the roster once I saw her moves and abilities. It's great but I really have to make sure to try the others out too.

Thanks. I think most of the depth and difficulty will come from the mind games and mixups.

Anyone add me for for honor games. Idk if I'll get this day one but I'm very interested from the little bit I've seen.

I know its a beta but who do you guys think are the top three characters?

From what i've seen i'd say peacemaker, Nobushi and Orochi.

Yeah, those are probably top 3. But Warden and Conquerer are also really good, as is Raider.

So far I've only used Nobushi and Raider though, I'd say in 4v4 Raider is top tier for sure.

Raider is BUSTED in 4v4. He can clear grunts with ease and is excellent in group fights with his ability to support the team with his abilities and his long sweeping unblockable disrupting the enemy team. He can also take most characters on 1v1 with his considering his heavy cancels are among the strongest in the game with the stun he gets from them. His unblockable isn't even THAT gimmicky since it covers so much area. ALSO he has one of the strongest grab games out of the whole cast. I feel like he's being underestimated in Duel too. If you have solid spacing and mind games he gets fucking terrifying, especially next to walls.

Okay with the shield characters, how the hell do i full block?
Hold down on right analogue, then you block from all sides. Easy peasy revenge mode access if you getting 2 on 1'ed.

Fuck I like this game a lot but my big concern is its timing. After this game comes out 2 weeks after that is Horizon zero dawn, and tides of numenera, week after that is Neir: Automata, 2 weeks after that is mass effect, 2 weeks after that is Persona 5.

Like, if I get it i'd basically have that first 2 weeks to play it only :(

I'll be playing For Honor and Horizon Zero Dawn, that's about it. Shit I'll still be playing these two by the time Injustice 2 hits, and I might get Injustice 2 late if I'm still enjoying these two. Injustice 2 is literally Injustice 1 with new characters, stages, and a couple new mechanics, I can wait lol.

Yeah Nobushi is the character I've been using the most. She has great range on her pokes, excellent footsies, quick attacks and some of her pokes/combos do bleed damage. Bleed is very good and I have a feeling it might be slightly nerfed when the game actually launches.

But at high levels I can see the duels getting turtley and slow. However there's tons of mixups and unblockables so I think it will be fine in the long run.
After extensive play with the game I disagree with the notion that turtle play is the best. I've learned that you can get some serious offensive mixeups even in the neutral that are too good to not use. And once you get in you can keep mixing.

Ah you know what fuck it, I just pre-ordered. What game sets out to do, it knocks it out of the park. Ill make room for it with the other games.

Actually put some time into the beta and Warlord seems to have displaced Orochi as the best character. The deflect change actually matters, especially since the lag seems somehow worse. Guess since it's p2p it has always been luck of the draw.

In 1v1, you have what the game calls superior block which is basically auto guard from KOF on start up of all light attacks. So that is a pretty nice unique trait since it is harder to punish a baited light then it is a heavy.

However this isn't even needed, and actually is more prone to user error with the bad netcode. You can just abuse headbutt, which is forward + jump + guard break. On hit this gives a guaranteed light. The headbutt has insane tracking, is fast, unblockable, has quick recovery and is immune to guard breaks. You can spam it like crazy with little downside. If you somehow find yourself in a spot where you have to defend you can use defense mode that blocks all attacks. During this mode, you are free to tech guard breaks as well, so the opponent has no option to hit you unless it's an unblockable. Note you can also cancel this mode into the headbutt at any time, and blocking an attack in this mode gives a guarenteed headbutt. He also seems to have one of the highest health pools in the game in case you make mistakes.

Some characters may have a chance at being better then Warlord at 4v4 since clearing grunts could be important, as well as how good at you are being outnumbered. Speaking of that, while in revenge mode, Warlords unblockable headbutt causes a knockdown that gives a free heavy attack. So that's really powerful as well.
