Street Fighter V General Discussion

@MylesWright_

I'll be back 3ing
I don't know how to approach match-ups when you get bodied in neutral. You get barraged by attacks with no hurtbox at a range where you can't do anything about it.. you land a hit by random dash, random jump, random crush counter or buffering into thin air and praying

It's a mix of confidence (understanding of your skill and opponent's/decision making) , reactions (whiff punishing/confirms), spacing ( understanding of ranges/ possibilities), funneled through pattern recognization (reads/calculation/observation) and technical knowledge of the game (hurtbox/hitboxes/framedata/ when you can button and which) . This is the only layer that separates bumdowns from the good players in sfv and it's something you can develop. Watch GGHalibel stream he'll teach you better habits and plays Juri

It might seem random but I think you know there's more to it than that by just playing me

It's all so very confusing.

Honestly this is my number 1 weakness in this game aside from execution. It's getting through a wall of normals when they outrange/beat mine, when so many (maybe s2 will be different) of them are utterly safe to just throw out and spam. With recovery fast enough that even if I read and, say, jump in, they recover and jab AA me, or dp, or whatever, and if I move in to whiff punish I can't get in to effective range before they can throw more.

I know this is a matter of leveling up as a player, I'm not whining (I do whine about this, ask Kroaken) I'm just stating a fact as it pertains to myself.

I am super happy Ken is still solid. Puts him back on my list if Akumer turns in to a long term project/ends up not being as fun as I hope.

I have had almost no time with s2, tried to.plsy the first night but found out my work Network security blocks game connections or something and the next day I just didn't have any time between RL and work.. really need to start grinding out my Guile and put some time in on Akuma and see where he stands for me. My 20m in training mode fiddling with his normals and execution are promising..

What are his go-to combos that I need to know? I know his cr.Mp bnb, cr.lk x cr.lp BNB, a couple things off st.rh , but that's it. Haven't had time to explore CC stuff or anything.

He is interesting, from what I've seen of him being played by stronger players.. really seems like he doesn't want to play the poke/footsie game long, as has been stated here, he really has to get in and get his damage rolling. I was watching some matches, I think it was WNF, and I'd watch Akuma land a BnB and a poke or two and maybe a couple blocked projectiles, etc, and think 'hes controlling the round, nice' look at the life bars and they were even, off nothing more than him eating a few stray normals, given his low life.

I certainly have ZERO opinions on is tier placement/relative strength, but I DO think in the hands of average players he will be weak. In the hands of experience, we shall see, but he's going to be one of those characters with a really high skill floor to start seeing success with.

Meanwhile, Bison is looking pretty legit.

My main is Cammy, and to be honest, I'd say playing Akuma feels akin to playing Cammy if she was a shoto. He's all about bullying you up close, pressure, traps, etc. Toss in the DF mixups, etc. He just doesn't have her speed, but he makes up for that in pure damage when he hits you. Similar gameplan though, get in your opponents face and stay there untill they get you off them, and capitalize as hard as possible when your poke connects.

Yeah I need to find time to look up Akuma tech and frame data, I just haven't had time to do much of anything with him. I haven't looked at anything except his very bare minimum BnBs.

Just an aside, Urien is a beast.

I wonder how permanent these changes are right now? Has Capcom said this is it until s3?

I just started thinking of the possibility that Capcom released these changes into the wild and intends to tweak and fiddle with them a little bit until a 'final' state is reached at a predetermined time - putting the game in its previously locked state through the CapCup season.

I'm not advocating anything be removed or added or anything, just kinda popped in to my head and got me wondering.

remember that part in the early interviews that Combo and Capcom were saying that, they wouldn't nerf the top tiers too much, they would try to buff the lower ones instead ?! yeah... RiP Nash (i understand the Mika nerfs) but, Nash just got de_stroyed...

Its not the throw loops. I can deal with those. Its the aa jabs that have me salty. I was just answering a question about the throw loops. Hell kens are easy as to do now lol. I had the air tatsu before to help with the aa jabs and now its gone. Just need to find a way to avoid them i guess. I didnt mind them taking it cause they said the aa jabs would be weaker but here i am getting crossed under by ryu again.
Sorry to bring this up again but you had a move which was busted to help you get in.
You did mean normal air tatsu and not ex air tatsu right?

O: what'd she get?
St mp is plus 3. St mk is 1 frame faster startup, cr lp has 3 active frames now, cr hp is plus now. V reversal isn't punishable anymore. Etc etc.

She lost some dmg and gained more stun, but with everyone losing dmg across the board she came out on top. If guile/Urien weren't/aren't buffed to number one she's my new #1

v-reversal is when you hit all 3 attack buttons (kick or punch) while blocking and do a sort of block breaker right? (told you i havent played it much) and Hers was punishable? o.0

anyway, those buffs sound great :D

Yeah. I had a busted move to deal with busted aa jab. That was what i used it for so when they said aa jabs were gone i had no issue loosing that busted ass move. But as we know aa jabs are still here and they took away the move to keep it in check. I dont have an issue with aa jabs like geif or sims they need it.its the ryus and the cammys who have good aas but dont use them because they get mix ups off jabs.

does anyone get combos off them or nah?

TBH i love the fact that AA's are strong in this game, better than MKX where certain characters get to jump in for free.
