Street Fighter V General Discussion

Anyone interested in sets in.. oh, an hour? Give or take? I'm looking to experiment and fiddle around some on a couple different characters, so I'll be playing to learn more than win (ie you may see me do weird shit,or repeat certain actions, etc) . I don't care if you bring your A game, I'm just stating my purpose up front. Ill also go ahead and put this here.. if you want sets so you can run back to the forums to run your mouth when you win, don't bother.

I just want some friendly, fun sets. We can skype, or just whatever. I'm desperately trying to make this game 'click' with me, and will be playing most likely Nash, Urien and/or Ryu. I *might* play my main (vega) but dont know. Anyway, lemme know! 930-ish est. (getting dinner atm)
While I would love to play everyone here I've already mentioned that my internet is mostly horrible, plus I have to renew my ps+ this week lol. But as to someone beating you then coming back and talking smack im pretty sure everyone here just clowns around when they do that. You really shouldn't worry about things like that. I mean if you lose EVERY game every round, so? You're not living off playing SF 5. You're playing to have fun and learn, that's your goal. Will you learn from losses? Most definetely. And unless someone here has won Evo or capcom cup or is #1 ranked online then nobody should talk.

It's all so very confusing.
Yeah I seriously doubt it would happen here, but it happened in a different thread not so many days ago after some sets in MKX, so I just feel like I should put up a disclaimer.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not birthing over trash talking or competitiveness, I just wanted to stress I'm looking for laid back games because I'm trying to work on some things. Like. I may literally spend two or three entire matches doing nothing but jumping in, or repeatedly try a specific button or sequence or whatever, because that's how I learn. I focus on one specific aspect and I work on it.. bah.

You get the idea. Lol

Hey man, GGS, but apparently my internet is being a douche, I am laggy as fuuccckkk. lemme see if I can figure out WTF is going on and Ill hjit you up.. We were teleporting all over the place in that match. The game I won I saw you block like four things I did, and it rewound to me landing them, LOL

I like Nash though.. That was the first time I've used him and with the lagg it doesn't equate to anything, but I do want to learn him. I like how he can check forward motion, then I can run away like a bitch and re-engage when i feel less like a bitch,

lionbae ur right i was too harsh on you, have a little snack its your favorite lul

I forgot to mention the other day Alex also beats Guile. To keep score that's like 8 losing matchups while Guile beats Gief, Laura, and Fang I guess. kewl lul
Shazzy... just when I thought we were besties. You put a knife through my heart with that one. I play both, for the record. I've never felt it was worse than 5-5.

Alex has too many ways to get in for little risk, he can play on the ground fine and easily trades with Guile's flashkick. All his pressure works on 4framers too and he does mad damage with Guile's trash vitals.

If Guile had an invincible flash kick no question 5-5 but there's only so much Guile can do take advantage of Alex's poor defense and generally has less pros and too many cons that add up in this matchup. Spawn and Chris G also think Guile loses to Alex so eh

Oh and Spawn or really any Alex doesn't do it but Alex's knee just straight beats Guile's ex flashkick LUL

I suppose I can see what you mean. As far as ways in, he need the meter to get through the booms. And his charge down specials are very risky.

Also, meant to say, I like the slant of your Guile :)

no you dont just do the stomp Guile has to commit to a flashkick to aa it. Guile has to spend the bar too its too fast and window is too small to react to risk it getting stuffed out. Even if Guile just blocks his punish is literally a jab who cares.

Guile's flash kick isn't invincible?

Why would you aa it? Neutral jump is a full punish.

because im not fl bumdown and my gameplan isnt hold up anytime alex goes in the air

you play alex right dont you know his recovery on stomp is almost nonexistent? If i react to stomp and jump sure I avoid it but then you land and jab aa me

but that doesnt fit bumdown's narrative so he wont say anything passive aggressive now

the moves got over 20 frames of recovery pretty whiff punishable.

I think you could apply the neutral jump to your game whenever he has down charge. At least mixing it in. I'd need a little more footage showing how bad this matchup can be. It still feels like it can't be much worse than 5-5. I wouldn't feel comfortable calling it 6-4.

To be fair, your Guile is better than mine. So I won't oppose it any further.

It's the sfv reaction time problem. Idk how to explain it but it is a little harder. Frames don't paint a fair picture. Otherwise kens wouldn't be getting away with half their dirt. And his aa jab is very reliable.

I feel like it's really obvious when alex is trying to hold down charge. At least I feel obvious lmao.

there's a difference between training mode theory and actually playing the game which makes these things hard to discuss if im neutral jumping pre-emptively im not sonic booming and im in the air for like 60 frames which gives alex time to dash in. his stomps can be done anywhere on the screen at any time, not just sitting fullscreen waiting. there's no commitment to charging he's allowed to play footsies and occupy space forward while im giving up ground and my space just because of the threat of a move i have to guess to punish worth anything.

I hear what you're saying. And it makes sense. Thanks for the info :)
