Street Fighter V General Discussion

It's all so very confusing.
I'll be home in about an hour, give or take. Anyone want sets? U.S. player, located in Kentucky.

I main Vega but will likely be playing Ryu and/Nash. Not playing to win so much as work on some things.

Lemme know.

Laura's normal projectile is pretty shit it can be low profile with a sweep depending how long it's charged if it's charged all the way it's most likely will trade hits but it can also be stopped by a jump in or dp on wake up. Imo i only see it being useful when you have v-trigger activated or if it's ex'd or during a stunned opponent. Only time she's plus is after a command grab and ex projectile everything else is either negative or 0 which is 50/50 chance you may hit them or not and she has shit range too. I wish she wasn't so damn unsafe and gimmicky on everything.

Would you know why @ 0:22 when mika throws her opponent and they bounce back mika does a f.HP~vtrigger~cr.MP then resets, but whenever I try to do the same combo when I do the cr.MP it barely lifts the opponent up so I can't connect with anything after that, and in the video the cr.MP juggles the opponent like twice as high as when I hit them. Would you know why?

Sounds like you're triggering after the f hp instead of canceling the f hp with trigger. If you can't nail that timing try triggering after the cr mp, less strict and you can still side switch.

@MylesWright_

I'll be back 3ing
Lol. I only came on to do the daily challenges and got coerced into playing games

When I play this game nowadays I just don't feel anything. I want to do more things with the characters I use but the game will not allow it so you just end up doing the same things over and over which I find boring

I'm having an SFV crisis.. debating on learning a secondary character but can't decide. I feel like I'm stagnant and just not improving. I'm backsliding because in just getting frustrated and annoyed. Thought about Guile, Ibuki, Urien, Cammy.. I don't know.. I love Ibuki but she frustrates me, so maybe not her..

Bahhhhhhhhh. I main Vega and dont plan to change that. Just want to switch things up and try to break out of this slump. Maybe I just need a break from V in general I dunno.
I think Cammy is the perfect secondary character because she has very clear matchups and execution isn't an obstacle. You can keep your attention focused on your main character, but Cammy is a nice character to break out as a change of pace.

Cammy is an option. She definitely teaches patience with her 11 health and unsafe nature.. forces hit confirms and meticulous play, but she has excellent rewards for going a little crazy

i need a character to start out with. Which characters takes the least execution for pulling off combos?

Also which is the best one to learn the basics and is easy in general

Normalize grab immunity.
What kinda no talent bum do you have to be to not take a game with Mika? Fraud exposed.
Hey Mika is a simple misunderstood character with a high skill ceiling. There's a reason there's like 3 Mika's worth talking about but they all talk highly about me.

They're all generally easy. Just pick the one who fits as your avatar and excels in how you prefer to engage.

Sf execution is all very easy outside one of two edge cases. Even those cases are easy by typical standards.

Ryu is always good to start with. Ken. Cammy. Just depends on what you want in a character.

Ryu and Necalli are probably the two biggest damage vs 'effort' required characters in the game. Ans by that I simply mean ease of combos and converting in to big damage.

So like what are the tightest links in this game frame wise? Cuz if I remember correctly, SFIV had a ton of 1-2f links right?

In terms of links, I think I read 3f was as bad as it got, but almost everything is crazily generous. Just about every character's main bnbs can pretty much be mashed out to get the combo. I've had my 11yr old niece do combos before by just saying ok hit this button then just hit this button as fast as you can until you see her kick then hit this button as fast as you can until... Etc, and she landed a couple combos that way.

Now, done characters do get tight.. charge characters tend to have some tight stuff. Guile and Chun both have combos that require a 'late' cancel to link, and those are pretty tight. With Guile , it's linking his st.fp x Cr.mp x flash kick, with chun it's her st.mp x Cr.mk x mk.spinning bird kick. There are others I'm sure, but those examples stand out.

Other things that arent links are tight as well. Ibuki has some setups that are 1-2 frames from working vs failing miserably.

It's not that SFV doesn't have execution, it does, it's just that it's not really a hurdle outside a couple edge case scenarios (Ibuki really stands out here, she is probably the most execution heavy character the game has, and I'd argue that she holds that dubious little crown by a wide margin.
